"I have been frequenting the Grupo Lounge for many years, in fact I used to go there when it was a Blockbuster! What always appealed was the relaxed atmosphere and the quality staff that up until covid really were excellent! Sadly these days it seems to be a shadow of its former self! They have kept the same licensing hours but I can only assume they only pay staff till 11 these days because when it comes to closing they are (frankly) very rude! I 'm sorry to say but as a regular you can tell there are problems as you never see the same bar staff twice which frankly is very telling! Tonight for example I have ordered a drink when the bar shut at 11 'o clock then by 11:10 have had a member of staff tell me that I have to walk home with my pint in a plastic cup?! It wouldn 't be so bad but in doing so he told me it was because of 'their license ' clearly showing a complete lack of knowledge as all their license says is about when they can sell drinks until! Here 's an idea, if you want people to leave by 11:10 maybe don 't sell them a full pint right up until 11pm?! All I read about pubs online is woeful tails about how pubs are going out of business, well guess what this is why! Make a choice, either close early (10:45pm) and don 't make it about the money or accept that people need time to drink a pint of alcohol and serve till 11pm with kicking out being 11:30 (which it always had been for years before)! It wouldn 't have been so bad but some random new starter on the bar then said we were being rude for (calmly) pointing out their misunderstanding around licensing laws! As a local this was always one of my favourite bars but as a local I can safely say that if they don 't sort out their customer service they will no longer have any customers to rudely kick out!"

"I 'm not in the business of giving one star ratings just because of one failing so this review is 3 star because the food is good if a little lacking in spice by authentic Thai standards and the service is good, especially given how busy it always is here. Now the bad bit. This is the latest in numerous (10+ visits to this restaurant and on only one occasion has the advertised large beer been available. On every other occasion I have been told We 've just sold out or we 're waiting for a delivery . If there are genuine problems with the supplier then, after 5+ years pf business, it 's time to change supplier. If it 's a problem with the purchasing department it 's time to make a change in that department. If on the other hand it is because the restaurant chain makes more money selling two small beers for more than a pound more than one large beer then it is a blatant, head office organised, rip off. It is compounded by the restaurant being so busy. A couple of good chugs and the beer has gone then getting a fresh one is dependant on catching the eye of one of the busy waiting staff. I would be happy to place a large bet that the majority of the beer drinkers would much prefer a large beer to a small one especially given that the ridiculous parking restrictions in Clifton render it virtually impossible to drive here and park and would love to be able to swig at least two bigguns whilst eating. I raised this complaint before departing and the manager acknowledged that this was a frequent complaint. Sadly the staff suffered because I refused to pay the service charge since the policy of the company is such that the service I would like has not been delivered (through no fault of the staff concerned I shall doubtless return and fully anticipate that this rip off will not have been rectified. A call to trading standards (do they still exist? will be the next action. This chain is patently advertising an item that it rarely if ever has available."

"Abysmal service from staff who couldn’t care less about their customers. Arriving 1 ½ hours before the restaurant’s closing time , our order was taken and drinks and starters arrived soon after. So far so good. It was a quiet evening mid week so we expected our meal to arrive fairly promptly. But half an hour later there was no sign of our pizzas and we were now the only remaining customers in the restaurant. Patiently we sat and waited …and waited… completely ignored by the staff who were chatting and clearing the tables around us. Finally, I succeeded in catching the eye of a waiter to be assured that our pizzas were “just going into the oven”. When another ten minutes had passed with no sign of our pizzas I went over to the kitchen to discover that our pizzas had most definitely not gone into the oven because the “chefs” hadn’t even got round to preparing them. A whole hour eventually passed between our order being taken and our meal being served. To add insult to injury the pizza base on mine was cool and barely cooked. A one hour wait on a quiet night for much of the time we were the only diners is inexcusable. So too is the “couldn’t care less” attitude of the staff towards their customers. The reputation of Pizza Express has been built on serving food of dependable quality and prompt and attentive service . This branch of the chain is a notable exception by far the worst I’ve encountered when dining at numerous branches of Pizza Express over the last 40 years."

"Three of us had pre ordered the traditional afternoon tea. One of us had arrived early but had to wait quite a while for someone to greet her and show her to the table. Once we were seated, it took a while for the waiting staff to come and find out what we wanted to drink. To be fair, once we had placed our orders, the drinks came quickly. We had to wait nearly half an hour for our pre ordered afternoon teas, even though the restaurant was far from busy. We were trying to catch the attention of the waiting staff but we joked that it felt like they had been trained not to catch our eye! Eventually, one came and said the teas would be out shortly, which they were. The croque monsieur and croque champignon were absolutely delicious and made a great change from traditional sandwiches. The scones were lovely and came with clotted cream and strawberry jam. The cakes, though, were a real disappointment: there was one lemon sponge cake with pieces of something in it but then two identical chocolate sponges. There was a real lack of variety as all were sponge cakes and two were exactly the same. I don't know whether they had run out of what should have been the third cake but no explanation was given. We would have expected perhaps a pastry or a gateau something to give a bit of variety. The afternoon tea should come with bottomless hot drinks. Again, though, no one came to wait on us and see if we needed refills and it took ten minutes of solidly trying to catch the eye of a member of waiting staff any waiting staff! to ask for our refills. Again, once we had requested them, they did come quickly. When the waiting staff were actually waiting on us, they were friendly and pleasant but were just not attentive enough to their customers, despite the restaurant not being busy. Would we come again and would we have this again? I'm unsure: we've had difficulties with waiting staff not being alert enough to the needs of their customers on a previous visit. The savoury aspects of the meal were really good but the sweet aspect was such a disappointment. I think I would only have it again if there were limited other options, staff were attentive to people waiting and I checked first what the cake options were."
