"Over many years, the food at The White Horse in its various incarnations has varied from excellent to extremely disappointing. You never knew what you were going to get it was a roll of the dice. So when we visited in August for an exceptional family meal that pleased the whole crowd I didn’t post a review. However we returned a few weeks later and were equally delighted. They know what they’re doing! It was very hard to pick a starter because the short rib croquettes are scrumptious and so are the smoked haddock leek arancini, if you like your flavours big, but in the end I had to go with revisiting the beetroot, blue cheese and nut salad because it’s a banger. Beetroot heaven. Mains of steak and fish of the day did not disappoint, and I would like to get hold of a supply of their Cataratto, one of my favourite wines but so hard to find. I shouldn’t have had it with the blue cheese but it was delish with the fish fried plaice with samphire and a quite eggy saffron hollandaise. Chocolate mousse was fun although there were maybe a few too many big ‘shards’ of tasty chocolate and biscuit; having said that I did manage to polish the lot off. The young enthusiastic waiting staff are sweet, too. The Christmas season menu looks great as does their offering for Christmas Day itself which is apparently nearly sold out already, and I’m not surprised. If the White Horse can keep up this consistency of really good food it will become impossible to get a table for a spontaneous meal out, dammit."

We had a lovely dinner last night. Can't fault anything. Excellent service , very good food and great atmosphere. This was our first dinner out after months and we couldn't choose a better place to go to. Tablets are spaced out so you feel comfortable and safe. There is plenty of hand sanitizer, gloves and masks. We will definitely come back.

we loved our journey to the white horse today! we pretend that someone in our party has certain nutritional requirements. we were resurrected by the beautiful tim that they could sort something delicious for them. when we arrived, they offered a lot of detail on ingredients and cooked a beautiful adapted meal, not only a normal meal without some elements. she was tied and enjoyed eating. also other foods (porkglocke and inkfish) were delicious. great and thoughtful service with eating to fit. give me an increase! thank you.

my wife and I went to dinner last night after I had not visited about 18 months. it has to be said: not much has changed, including the menu! we choose both the fish of the day that has been tasty, beautifully cooked and served. Apart from that, the menu was really inspiring and needs a refresh. our meal was accompanied by a bottle of viognier, which was also delicious. vanilleeis for dessert was perfect, some of the best I had in one. So, in summary, our eating experience here was excellent, but the 4 stars reflect the tired menu and the some amateur hour service. it was nice to believe that I don't take a nice meal for self-evidently) but if they change the menu and get a little more adven...

This is a gastro type pub that you could so easily walk past. Don 't! Run by a family with a clear desire to deliver 'English food with a twist ' (their words), it 's a clean, modern, semi-rustic place but not done in the large square open space style that some conversions have carried out. Cosy, relaxed feel with exceptionally good, friendly service. The menu offers a good range of dishes and a really good range of starter/sharer/taster dishes with a small range of desserts.
