"Terrible food. Terrible service. Sheik kebab was so raw the inside was just raw slimey meat and raw marinade and the chicken tikka was also not cooked with some parts of it still raw. We didn't even try our curry as the meat didn't look right. I don't usually do bad reviews as everyone has a bad day but this is a food safety issue not to mention that when I called to let them know they didn't even have the decency to offer a refund or apologise. Instead said I have to call uber eats ! Disgraceful"

"We had a party to celebrate 80th and 70 birthdays. The buffet was very good catering for vegetarians and a child with nut and lactose allergies (this was after a consultation with the chef) The room was very warm and decorated with candles and wall hangings. Staff all very helpful and friendly. We had an overflow room to put coats and where the 19 children gathered. Marshfield is a great place to have such a party as there is plenty of B, AirB and pub accommodation in the village so people can walk back after the event. Many thanks to Alistair and his team!"

"I'll be honest, The Buthay Inn wasn't my 1st choice of accommodation when looking for places to stay, but in 5 years time when I need to come to wickwar again, I won't bother looking at anywhere else. The bedroom was great, the food was exactly what you'd expect from a pub (the Sunday roast the pizza were both amazing) and the service and hospitality was excellent! Thank you Marlize for the roast beef sandwich and the cooked breakfast. They were nice touches and I really appreciated it.. And thank you for finding me a bycicle as well! All these little things that you did made my stay really great and they are the sign of a host who really knows how to accommodate their guests. Thank you Ryan, Aubry and (I think your name was) Tia for being so welcoming and friendly. My stay was almost perfect, but... If I had to offer any constructive criticisms at all, it would be to keep an eye on the consistency of the presentation of the meals coming out of the kitchen, but that's it.. Everything else was fantastic!! The Buthay Inn deserves all the praise that it gets, and me saying that I would stay there again should speak volumes. 4 out of 5. I left there happy."

"After the refurb this place has totally changed for the better. The whole vibe inside is much nicer, the smoking area is 1000x, and week to week the atmosphere is top notch. Jake, the kitchen manager handles food like nobodies business, absolute bees knees. Zak, on the bar, pours the finest Guinness known to man. And Sophia’s is not too shabby either. 10/10, would recommend, always got the footy on. A lovely Euros was had at the horseshoe!"

"My family and I visited the Bowl Inn last Saturday (2nd December) as a meeting point to exchange Christmas gifts. We live in Cornwall and my sister's family lives near Manchester. The food was delicious, and the server who took our order was friendly. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow. It seemed like the pub may have been understaffed, which made it difficult to keep up with everything. Our main dishes took a long time to arrive, and we were not checked on or offered more drinks while waiting. My mom had to go to the bar to order another round of drinks. Some of us wanted desserts, but since our empty plates were left on the table for a while, we decided against it due to the slow service. While the food itself was good, the overall service could have been improved with more check-ins during our wait for the food."

"We visited 1439 Cocktail bar for a gin tasting evening in September. The evening cost £10 per person and involved tasting 4 gins and making a gin cocktail. The bar is only small so has a limited number of people it can fit in (around 15 -20) so it is a very popular night and tickets sell out fast. The staff at the bar explained each of the gins, how they are flavoured and some facts about them. The girl presenting didn’t seem very confident and was reading very quickly off cue cards about each gin rather than being engaging, however we spoke to her throughout the night and she was very friendly did have a lot of knowledge about gin it’s a shame she wasn’t able to share it as effectively during the ‘presentation’. She told us which tonic each gin would be paired with and the garnish we should include. It was nice to try all the different types of gin and the different flavours made by the mixture of botanicals. Before the event I didn’t think I liked gin however through this I found it was the tonics I didn’t like therefore I substituted these tonics for lemonade. The cocktail we made was with Gin, Martini rosso, Cranberry juice, sugar water and a raspberry. We were told that it should have more than one raspberry but they didn’t have enough, which I felt was poor planning as the pack they were showing they came out of was from Tesco so they could have easily bought a second one. We were shown how to mix the cocktail and the measures of everything then left to our own devices while the staff circulated to check everyone was ok. To finish the night we were given a goody bag which was a bottle of tonic, some stirrers and a packet of thyme crisps. The event lasted 2 hours (7-9pm) and overall was great fun and I’d definitely recommend looking out for when they hold their next date. I know we will be!"

"Our son has worked here and was keen to share this place. We thought it was buzzing, alongside the river we ate outside after walking the dog. It was however disappointing.. possibly because it was so busy. We were advised to order via the app.....but this did not work snd after 35 minutes we still did not have any drinks. Although the friendly chap at the station pointed out water on tap. Eventually we worked out the system which was to queue and order manually! Sadly the food arrived Luke warm, although I suspect this will be because it is someway to the kitchen. Covers on the plates may help? Food was very average for above average priced roast dinner. Staff all very friendly and coped well under the circumstances."

"Ordered toasted sandwiches and coffee. Requested the cafetière hoping for two cups rather than an Americano. At the counter the server smiled politely and took order but the other member of staff making coffee looked they wanted to be anywhere else but there. Drank first...cup of coffee a bit bitter but thought it was just the brand of coffee but decided to open up cafetière and found the plunger was filthy. These needs cleaning on each use to prevent old coffee grinds hanging around affecting taste of next brew. As we were leaving member of staff cleared table so I pointed it out. She just said it’s stained. So my comments were dismissed on the spot. Disappointing response. ‘Turns out, coffee leaves behind quite a bit of oily residue on the plunger screen and inside the pot. Hot water alone will not get rid of it, and after time those oils can turn rancid and affect the taste of your coffee’ from I need coffee.com"

"The food I ordered was probably the worst meal I’ve ever eaten. Avenue was too busy and we were hungry so as the menu showed t still did brunch foods at mill house including avocado I thought we’d try it as it was almost empty so we’d be served fast . What a mistake! Every drink I ordered from cocktail menu wasn’t available so I just had a bespoke Buck’s Fizz. Shoutout to waitress who couldn’t help situation. The food took ages and as there was no hollandaise I tried the hot sauce as was only other one recommended , combined with the egg, bacon, cheap cheese and avocado on an undercooked crumpet it was the worst £4.49 I’ve ever spent. The staff ate lovely but food was gross and menu is bonkers!"

"Waiting staff were brilliant and couldn’t have been more apologetic. However they are fighting a losing battle as ‘just eat’ is obviously king as the kitchen NEVER Stopped the entire 2 1/2 hours we were there. The customers IN the restaurant were waiting an age for food and drinks but you can’t fault the staff the company wants revenue and they certainly had a big take away trade. That’s great until walk in customers get peed off waiting and don’t go there but to the other outlets nearby. The staff get the brunt of the Instore customers waiting 50 mins for a pizza really is shocking.when it came one was excellent the other average we only got ours as we complained. The manageress was excellent and couldn’t have been more apologetic but she needs a separate kitchen for takeaway orders or if it carries on the place will shut anyway! Great staff shame as they won’t get tips as everyone’s naffed off!!"

"So disappointing. We love PE pizzas but this was not a good experience. Internet drove me crazy once again and I couldn’t access their app and rewards offered which was one of reasons worth going there for. Ended up paying for things that would normally have been free. Standing outside in the rain for access was not fun! Mixed salad didn’t appear so I cancelled it. Not much cheese on the pizzas and partner said his was one of the worst ones he’d had. It was removed from the bill. Mine was quite dry and over baked. Coffee machine not working, never has been when we’ve been there! Wouldn’t go there on early Friday evening again, too busy… unfortunately probably never again. Staff helpful and kind but distracted as busy."

"Carluccio’s excellent legacy is being sorely undermined by this slapdash branch in Cribbs Causeway. We arrived at around 11.30am last Saturday morning and waited in a cue which several people eventually left) whilst the well meaning waitresses cleaned and reset the empty tables making sure that the didn’t make eye contact with anyone waiting in the cue to be served. Then the extremely unhelpful manager eventually came over after putting the palm of his hand up to the waiting cue in a “ do not enter “ gesture and said get this) “ Yes ?” to which I replied “ A table for two please “ “For what , because we’ve finished breakfast and we don’t start lunch until 12” he replied. As it was now 11.45 I said “ how about we come in for a couple of flat whites and when 12 o’clock comes around we will order some lunch.” He said nothing and showed us to a table. The lunch was pathetic, a couple of bruschettas with a tiny scattering of lettuce and one tomato cut in half. I had to ask for olive oil. On the up side the waiting staff, who spent most of their time all gathered around a serving station, were charming… all of them were really nice , however this once favourite eating spot was let down by surly management and very average food."

"The majority of our food was ok, we were disappointed that there were no steaks available, .but did understand why. Our waitress was pleasant, however, when we ordered dessert I don't think that the chef got the order because we waited over 30 mins before I enquired about it (there weren't many people dinning at this point and they had started to clear up) when they brought out our desserts my crumble and custard was cold and I complained and was told it would only take a few mins to heat up, I refused as I dont like the fact that I was going to be paying for a reheated dessert. While we were waiting for our bill, we could hear our waitress getting a verbal battering by who I presume was the manager, I don't think it was very professional of him to swear at her several times and especially in front of customers either. They were standing a matter of feet away from us. We were glad to get out of there, Its a shame as it was a celebration meal as it was our 25th Wedding anniversary."

"Unfortunately it's a bad review. I booked a table for five 2 weeks prior (table booked for Sunday 5th November 4pm), unfortunately on arrival we were told that the kitchen was slightly behind and our table wasn't ready for us. No big problem, lucky the two people sat on our table were very pleasant and moved so we could have our table (thank you). We sat down looked at the menu, then went to order on the app. The app was telling us that there wasn't any roast dinners left, or burgers. We asked member of staff and they said that this was correct. It would have been nice to have been told when we turned up that they had ran out of the main thing we'd gone there for, rather than moving two people to another table, seating us, then us getting up and walking out 5 minutes later. Overall pretty poor. The staff were polite and I understand it's not their fault and these things happen but surely management must foresee Sundays being busy for roast dinners?"

"The carvery well we're should I start. On arrival we went up to look at the food it was all dried out carrots were going black in places bubble n squeak was hard as rock cabbage was crisp n burnt the peas were brown mash was also dried out we had to Tel the chef to change it all which she did not like the supervisor also told her to change it which she started to do so we paid for the carvery then went up to get it she started to serve us then we realised the meet was all dried up to do. Said wed v the cut after the first. Wow she started being very rude so we said we would get are money back so went to til got refund and was told Amy is always like this towards customers. On leaving the premises we were. Follow out by supervisor and she apologised. Profusely to us but it was to late for that. I'm absolutely disgusted with this place even the carpets were filthy which I noticed on the way out food hygiene. Needs to be assessed at this place so I am not going to give it any stars as it's awful I would even let my dog eat there after witnessing this good luck to you if you do decide to eat here and make sure you got plenty of andrex tissue paper that's all I can say"

"I typically don't write reviews, but I had to make an exception for this restaurant. The food was fantastic, and the vegan cheese actually tasted like real cheese! Even my non-vegan friends preferred the vegan pizza over the other options. The service was exceptional, particularly thanks to our server Mia Saunders. She made sure we had everything we needed and assisted us with ordering since the online menu was a bit tricky to navigate. Mia was attentive and very kind, checking in on us frequently. I would definitely return to this restaurant again without hesitation."

"I had a delicious breakfast with my daughter yesterday. I substituted mushrooms for tomatoes, as I don't like tomatoes. My daughter is very picky with her food, so she asked for extra sausage and hash browns. Our waitress, Emily, was extremely helpful and polite. We were very happy with the service we received and will definitely be coming back again."
