"Myself and my family have been to the pizza cafè on various occasions over the past 5 to 10 years. I remember going with my parents from a young age on a Saturday or Sunday as a treat and in my adulthood visiting a few times. Each time I’ve gone sadly the character and standards of the place have continued to decline. The food is average although the prices are still rising, and the service can be quite poor. The pizzas used to be a lot tastier (and bigger), it all seemed fresher, served with a smile and fairly quickly… however on my last visit after being seated me and my partner waited a good 15minutes to be asked which drinks we’d like to order in which case we had already decided what we wanted to eat and quickly ordered not knowing how much longer we’d have to wait for someone to come and take our order again. Then nearly 45mins to an hour later our food arrived! We almost walked out at one point. It wasn’t particularly busy this night either. We had slow service, the food was not worth the price, and we also seemed to be waiting a lot because of a seemingly new staff member not knowing what to do and keeping asking for advice or simply handing it over to someone else which unfortunately I think is what happened to us. I appreciate people have to learn but there should have been a better system in place for someone to help out rather than cause a disruption on a Friday night which could have been a lot busier and caused more delay. I would probably go here again but my expectations are tainted unfortunately."

"Over the course of three nights (yes, we went back twice more because it was that good!), we tried various dishes. The pies were exceptional—some of the best I’ve had in years. They were generously filled, and the pastry was simply remarkable. The sides of perfect mash and peas were deliciously enhanced by crispy onion bits. The burgers sampled by others were praised for being moist and flavorful. I also enjoyed an excellent bass dish, and the curry I ordered on our second night was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. It was hearty, packing in a lot of meat rather than being overloaded with sauce, and I loved the chili-infused rice. Oh, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen poppadoms that big! My husband raved about the hunter's chicken too. The fact that we decided to order our favorite dishes again speaks volumes. Now, onto dessert! We tried the roulade, sticky toffee pudding, and rocky road on our first night, and everything was delightful. However, after seeing the rocky road, we all indulged in that for the next two nights. It was a clever presentation in a jar, with a lovely crumbly base and delicious cheesecake. The highlight was the fun of hunting for the Maltesers inside—lots of laughter ensued as we all exclaimed, “Where’s mine?” Had we stayed longer, we would have loved to explore more of the menu or perhaps enjoy those amazing pies once more. We hope to return to the area someday, and without a doubt, the Bell Inn will be our first stop. Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome, excellent service, and fantastic food!"
