"Over the course of three nights (yes, we went back twice more because it was that good!), we tried various dishes. The pies were exceptional—some of the best I’ve had in years. They were generously filled, and the pastry was simply remarkable. The sides of perfect mash and peas were deliciously enhanced by crispy onion bits. The burgers sampled by others were praised for being moist and flavorful.
I also enjoyed an excellent bass dish, and the curry I ordered on our second night was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. It was hearty, packing in a lot of meat rather than being overloaded with sauce, and I loved the chili-infused rice. Oh, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen poppadoms that big! My husband raved about the hunter's chicken too. The fact that we decided to order our favorite dishes again speaks volumes.
Now, onto dessert! We tried the roulade, sticky toffee pudding, and rocky road on our first night, and everything was delightful. However, after seeing the rocky road, we all indulged in that for the next two nights. It was a clever presentation in a jar, with a lovely crumbly base and delicious cheesecake. The highlight was the fun of hunting for the Maltesers inside—lots of laughter ensued as we all exclaimed, “Where’s mine?”
Had we stayed longer, we would have loved to explore more of the menu or perhaps enjoy those amazing pies once more. We hope to return to the area someday, and without a doubt, the Bell Inn will be our first stop. Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome, excellent service, and fantastic food!"
