A delightful mix of crispy fried seafood, including fish, shrimp, and calamari, served with fries and tartar sauce.

"POSITIVES The decor was clever, interesting, colourful well thought out. The service was efficient and food we chose was good with a broad menu. Extra touches like putting raspberries in the pink lemonade etc were a nice touch if not a tad expensive for a soft drink. NEGATIVES What let you down was maintenance cleanliness. The floor around bar was very sticky..infact we joked about how our boots stuck to the floor. The glass table infront of fire was filthy..glass needs lifting out to clean it. The light above our table, floor in restaurant, glasses cutlery were unclean. We sent a plate, 2 knives fork back. Suggest better quality tabs for dishwasher careful check before serving as waitress agreed they weren't clean. If you have cleaners they are missing the floors especially under chairs. Small changes and careful checks would help make it a 5 experience."

"great place and beautiful staff. we were a little disappointed that when we asked for dinner we closed the kitchen. that was about 10 o'clock when we said the kitchen was closed at 9 o'clock. since our booking was 8 o'clock, this was surprising that it was not said when we sat down. that said I would still recommend the place with the kaviat of "conscious of the kitchen times '."

"Five adults, including myself, dined at this restaurant for lunch. My cousin made a reservation online. Two of us started with soup, while others ordered dishes such as fish and chips (which had a foul smell and was sent back), burgers, salmon, and a creamy mushroom starter with salad and chips. We skipped dessert and enjoyed different types of coffee. Despite the fish issue, the food was delicious. The restaurant offers a nice view of a fast-flowing river. The staff, particularly a young man who is in a relationship with a girl from BHX University, was welcoming and friendly. We requested the disabled toilet to be opened, and there was no problem with our request. The only downside was the dim lighting above our table - brighter lighting would have been more cheerful. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and will likely return on our next visit to see family."

"A Sunday lunchtime visit when the restaurant was very busy. However out table was off to the side and relatively quiet. Service was quick and friendly, with staff being understanding about my preference for a starter as my main course. The food arrived in good time and was very good quality, fresh and tasty and well-presented. We chose tempura mushrooms, scallops and fishcakes, followed by some hearty mains, along with gin and tonics. We also selected toe mini pudding with coffee to finish, which is a favourite option for me. Highly recommended dining and a good idea to book well ahead."

"Popped in to the Ship Inn today for a bit of lunch as we are holidaying here. I ordered the hoisin duck salad and the chocolate bomb. I don't usually have salad but I do like hoisin duck so I thought I would give it...a go. It was made by Sean and it was the BEST salad I have ever tasted. I followed up with the chocolate bomb and my taste buds were once again put on overdrive however, you do need a very sweet tooth to be able to enjoy this as much as I did. If you are watching your weight, blood sugars or cholesterol, I would not recommended this dish but if not, go ahead and indulge it is well worth it. Sean is obviously an amazing chef as I never thought I would enjoy salad as anything more than a side dish but your duck salad is beyond superb. Thank you for a very yummy lunch."

"Spur of the moment visit as the weather was lovely this place has one of the best gardens. No seats available outside but we were told as soon as one came free they'd let us know. Within half an hour we were sat outside with a bottle of wine. The food service was excellent. I have to take the time to mention Gemma especially. She was very warm welcoming and couldn't do enough to make sure our visit was a good one. Highly recommend a visit if you haven't been"

"Took my wife with kids for her 50th birthday party after the place has been refurbished. My wife and I had starters and asked for our kids meals to come at the same time. Both kids ordered sausages and mash one asked for no gravy and the other asked could it be in a separate dish just in case she did not like it. The waiter assured us it came separate. Two meals came one had the gravy poured all over it, that is not served separate as asked for and confirmed by the waiter. So my daughter had to wait for the right meal to come. Allowing for the fact they were kids meal to serve only one sausage is ridiculously mean. The waiter later explained he made a mistake when taking the order so we accepted it as he was a nice guy. I had carrot and coriander soup. It was tasty and a fair portion. My wife had whipped goats cheese and it was an embarrassing portion. Absolutely tiny amount of goats cheese. We then waited circa 50 mins for our mains to come. I had the fig roast, which was very tasty but the sprouts weren’t cooked. My wife had the sea bass fillets which again was nice but the potatoes were not properly cooked. Deserts were nice and tasty. Overall okay but they must do much better. We never put quantity over quality but the portions were just too miserable, the service slow and the chef should not send out vegetables not cooked properly especially when you wait so long for your main course. Won’t rush back"

"After attending an afternoon show at the theatre on a Sunday near Christmas, we decided to have a meal at this restaurant. The atmosphere was quite lively with several groups of diners, making it somewhat noisy. I ordered the Sunday roast, but regretted my choice as the vegetables tasted old and had likely been sitting out for a while. The beef, however, was delicious. My friend opted for the salmon, which she enjoyed. Our desserts were satisfying. The staff were all friendly and attentive, although the service was slow. Overall, the experience was mixed."

"We always stop off at this Mizu when going south and have enjoyed the food. On this occasion not the case, I had the combo meal with rice and the meat was so tough and dry like it had been recooked it was just awful the green veg was very soggy. I politely told the lady waitress that the meat was dry and overcooked and she said well this is a new dish and walked off. I have had this dish before and it was never like this. The lady came over to take our payment for our meal and did not even apologize or offer our coffee and coke on the house, I didn't want to kick up a fuss but when a customer complains about the sub standard meal it should be addressed, so Mizu failed in customer service and in this case we will not be going back, mistakes with food happen but not bad customer service."

"I had a wonderful Mother's Day celebration at this restaurant with my mom and sisters. We were initially disappointed when we were seated in a dark and dingy corner and had to use our phone torches to read the menu. The flower on our table was also wilted. However, after speaking with a staff member, we were moved to a brighter table and the rest of the evening was fantastic. The food and service were excellent. We all opted for the special Mother's Day menu, which offered a great selection of dishes over three courses. We all chose the Sirloin of Beef Roast for our main course, which was served with a variety of delicious vegetables and a Yorkshire Pudding. The beef was perfectly cooked. The desserts were also amazing, with options like Apple and Damson Crumble, Lemon Posett, and Sticky Toffee Pudding, all of which were delightful. The staff were friendly, polite, and respectful, providing excellent service throughout the meal. A big thank you to the Pheasant Team for a memorable dining experience."

"I very rarely write negative reviews but these guys are just a complete shambles. Waited half an hour to be seated at a reserved table, surly and inefficient waiting staff with can’t-do attitudes. Highly recommend you avoid spending your time or money here..!"

"Th food and location are great. Free parking for customers if you register at the bar. Great choice available. I had the chicken salad and they were happy to swap the bacon for Goats cheese. The chocolate and peanut bomb was everything you could ask for in a dessert! The service was a bit slow as it took nearly 45 mins to get our mains but we were chatting. If I was in a rush it may have been a problem!"

"My blush wine was warm and my lamb grissly. I wanted to see if my daughter in law wanted to drink wine and said to server but he still got me a glass of wine which was what I originally asked for but then said I’d like to wait as may order a bottle. By the time I ordered a bottle, before my glass of wine turned up, I was told too late as it had been put through. I get he was young, maybe I should have made more of a stand. Wasn’t the end of the world but nonetheless, annoying. Would I rush back, no, would I recommend, maybe. I’ve had better but this experience soured previous ones."

"Stopped by here for lunch today. It was a beautiful sunny day so we chose a table outside at the front of the hotel. We placed our order at the bar; one steak sandwich, a flatbread wrap with Mediterranean vegetables and two IPA beers. The food quality was ok but the customer service was diabolical. Three young staff were serving customers seated outside and not one of them could raise a smile let alone engage in conversation. Our food was delivered but no cutlery. Our waiter said that cutlery would follow; we were not asked if we required any condiments so I asked for salt/ pepper, mayonnaise and ketchup. A young waitress came back to the table after several minutes and delivered the cutlery, salt/ pepper and mayonnaise but no ketchup. She placed all items in the centre of the table sweeping them off of the tray and saying ‘ here’s your cutlery!’ Quite frankly you would get better service in a back street cafe. I observed other customers being treated similarly. All tables were served with food first and cutlery second. What’s the point of delivering hot food if you cannot eat it straight away? That has to be the fault of management in not training staff to deliver the basic table set ups first ahead of food delivery. All in all a very disappointing experience."

"It was extremely busy had to wait for 40 minutes before getting seated even though we had booked. The waiter tried hard but kept forgetting our drinks getting them wrong I really don't know why they can't write it down! I had the lamb roast dinner it should of been called a lamb fat roast dinner as there was hardly any meat just fat, we also asked for gravey which was meant to be bottomless all we got was a dribble on the plate when we asked for more it never turned up. Then to top it off the waiter gave us the wrong bill we only realised when he had taken our money then practically accused us of changing the bill (not sure how on earth we could of done that) then as we owed extra money we paid using a card machine which broke 3 times, the waiter was then practically banging it on the side getting very angry. So we won't be going back."
"Attending Browns for a Christmas Dinner with my wife. Tldr: The food was fantastic, but the atmosphere was lacking and the live music timing was moved. We have attended Browns a few times before over the years for different events and decided for it as the Christmas date night for my wife and I. We specifically booked after 7 on a Sunday as we were told that live music would be played after that time and we wanted that ambience (we have been before when piano music was playing). When we got there we found that the live music had ended at 7, so we had booked later for no reason. Instead of the quiet and romantic evening we planned, the venue was very very bright, loud music was playing and although the staff were attentive we felt it lacking. The wine was very expensive for what it was (you expect a 40 quid bottle to be more than 1 year old and not a screw top, at least), and looked, smelled, and tasted like a 7 quid bottle from Tesco. The food was amazing, we had the festive menu and it was splendid. The portion sizes were good too. I would mark it 6/10 for the night we expected. But we may return if loud and bright is needed (like a friends night out meal for example) but definitely not a romantic time."

"The food at this restaurant, which used to be excellent, now seems average. The chips were soggy and lacking in flavor, while my husband's fried chicken was not actually fried. However, the stuffing was tasty, but there was very little of it. Due to understaffing, we had to repeatedly ask for the bill and eventually had to go to the bar to pay. It's disappointing that the quality of the restaurant has decreased. Additionally, our table reservation was not recorded."

"Our first visit but it won't be our last. The food was good but the fishcakes should have been served with fries or potatoes. Serving them with only salad is not sufficient or value for money. Isabella was excellent as were all the staff. The person who greeted us at the door was rather subdued towards our arrival and did not create the ideal first impression. I do not want to overplay this and no one should be reprimanded but a smile sends a powerful message."

"A real hidden/ unknown gem... as a gluten intolerant diner, I get so annoyed when we aren't catered for (half the stuff taken off the plate, but yet still charged the extortionate amount).... NOT here.. I've been a few times now and have thoroughly enjoyed each time. The manager is attentive, friendly and a real character! He takes time and effort to entertain the children, make sure they are catered for so the adults can enjoy their food. The service is great, the food is amazing and if you're a gluten free eater, you have to try this restaurant/ pub.. it's so random as it's literally on a roundabout between east grinstead and Crawley... but 100% worth the trip... id definitely book, though!! Enjoy x"
