"We have stayed at the Kimberley hotel several times but I was not as impressed this time with the food. Our booking deal included a 2 course meal on the first night. My husband chose battered cod and I had the filleted fish. The battered fish was served lying on top of the chips which had been arranged in a row. He found the batter quite oily/greasy which he did not eat but consequently that had left the chips underneath soggy. My fish was nicely cooked. I was also upset to see that several of the courses had a supplement and therefore not offered in the choices unless an extra cost was incurred which further limited the already limited menu. The wine was also very pricey. I felt the £49 for 2 people sounded a good deal which included a bottle of house wine although the house wine was not advertised as an option to purchase. We chose not to eat in the restaurant on the second night"

"We were recommended to look at the Langton for a small family and friends lunch to celebrate our wedding and we weren't disappointed. We met with the staff to discuss what we were looking for and they couldn't of been more helpful nothing was too much trouble. The venue itself is stylish and well laid out there was an annex area off the restaurant which accommodated our party perfectly and provided a well laid out, private area. The menu choices were varied and excellent our guests provided us with their selections and we provided the Langton with a pre order 7 days before the lunch. There was a variety of selections but all the food was of very high quality, came out piping hot and at the same time. They were very helpful with the arrangements setting up our tables with flowers and place settings. On the day, the staff were warm and welcoming we received excellent, efficient and friendly service from all of them. The food itself was amazing and all our guests commented on the high standard and how much they enjoyed it. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Langton 10 /10 for us!"

"Food was excellent despite not having the tofu in the vegan breakfast, however the restaurant did everything they could to accommodate our dietary requirements. The service was first class attentive but not overbearing, and the early morning ambiance was ideal. A thoroughly enjoyable experience"

"was taken here and treated by very old and good friends and was looking forward to reading the menu online. But it is not even disappointed to cover it. had to start portobello mushrooms. several slimy, overcooked and black pieces of mushrooms served on undercooked light white sliced brot. next, the sticky chicken was a glazed little chicken breast with sweet chilli sauce from a bottle. accompanied by ordinary chips and shattered in boiling, and that was it? all meal times regardless of content was shot in tacky and I expected the half that the chocolate brownie pea shoots have on it. espresso was served in a cappuccino cup. two round empty glasses were not removed from the table, although the remaining blank was empty and we literally woven our poor in the air to win the attention of the only employee. suddenly overpriced and rests on old laurels. okay for a drink, but to be perfectly honest and without exaggeration they would better go to a decent fish and chip shop."

"And there were things to love: the decor and ambiance, the very friendly staff and the innovative menu…but I didn’t love the food. The menu was a combination of Asian and Middle Eastern inspired food. I wasn’t familiar with many of the ingredients, but the waiter did a wonderful job of explaining them. He recommended the Mercimek Kofte when I explained that I prefer whole food ingredients to something more processed. It looked good but I found it just average. There wasn’t a lot of flavor. My son ordered the Katsu hot dog with fries, and my husband ordered the BBQ Chicken burger with chips. My husband said his was good but nothing spectacular. My son, who’s 11 but eats like an adult, didn’t finish his because it was “weird.” I suspect our high expectations got the best of us."

"Haven’t been to The Gate for a meal for a while but have used the bar area a couple of times this year and the ambience and wine list are good. I wanted a light lunch so chose the vegetarian flatbread. It took almost 45 minutes to arrive and what was served was terrible, dry and over cooked. There was only about a tablespoon of topping- aubergine, onion and miso- spread in the middle of the overly crisp bread. No one came to ask if the meal was ok. My daughter thought her salad was average. All very disapppinting. It took a further 10 minutes to attract anyone’s attention to get the bill as the waitress was busy chatting to customers . I won’t be in a hurry to return to the restaurant."

"Waited over 90 mins for food. Pub busy but not manic. People were leaving having waited for their dinner. Obviously the kitchen staff had lost it as manageress spent a lot of time helping out. Noticed a lot of meals being returned. When ours arrived two of them were nice whilst the other two were not good. Both were roasts and the veg was not cooked. The parsnips could not be cut, they were rock hard. The man on the next table left but did say that previously he had no complaints at all. We will go again because it cannot be that bad all the time judging by the numbers there. Thank you for the discount which was not asked for."

"Unsure of timings due to a meeting in Gloucester so turned up at 1.25pm for lunch. Waitress Heather was charming and we decided to eat in due to the hot weather outside and were pleased to find inside airconditioned . She warned us that there might be a wait due to a lot of people eating both outside and inside but we didn’t feel we had to wait longer than normal for our two course set lunch. The only thing we had to wait for was our drinks. I felt so sorry for the bartender who was rushed off his feet on his own (the queue for the bar was out of the door). We felt that the pub management should have put someone else on as well knowing the weather was set to be a very warm week and more people than usual would turn up, especially at the Barnt Green Inn, where the outside seating is lovely and spacious. Heather kindly went and poured the drinks for us herself even though she was extremely busy too. Our food was delicious. We both had the fish cakes with salad (prepared by chef Izzy) and a cold pudding and it was all superb. A lovely visit and we’ll be back."

"Went here with family. The servers were awful they seemed poorly trained and didnt know what was going on. Actually, we were practically laughed at when we asked at the front if we could do a walk-in. The food was okay. Had the roast dinner and it seemed slightly fancy with a lot of little nice touches; however, the vegetarian option was not tasty at all and needs work. Given 3 stars because the outside of the pub is really well maintained and sitting next to the river in the sun was amazing."

"I visited the pub in the evening of 13/06/22. I myself, sisters and elders enjoy coming here, as the foods and drinks are of good taste and great taste. our visit on Monday was great when kelly, alice, jack and jim recognized me and sisters who are regular visitors. jim greeted us at the door and was very welcoming and lead is to our table. from then on it was a seamless night for my family and the service of kelly was efficient as the appetizers, net and my two freky puddings were error-free. Many thanks to the chefs in this night, as I loved the lamb especially, especially by a person who never really goes for the lamb option (picture below). Thank you. cromwell team for a fun and relaxing night for my family."

"The setting and waitresses were very nice and friendly and covid restrictions were respected. The menu was very large, and there was a separate vegan menu, with 4 main dishes and 3 puddings. Unfortunately the only vegan starter is olives and they are unable to provide chips or fries as they’re cooked in the same place as non-vegan things (yet are somehow vegetarian). The mains were delicious, but very small! Particularly the roasted cauliflower wedge which was 1/3rd of a cauliflower on about a tablespoon of hummus with some salad leaves. I can’t fault the taste, but after just that and no starter I was still very hungry. The desserts were much bigger and very nice. They had a chocolate billionaires bar and a polenta cake on the vegan menu, but there was also crumble with custard on the main menu. Updated from previous review on 2021-06-04"

"For our first night stay in Lymington we were recommended this pub. It is situated right on the Quay side with views accross the water. Unfortunately when we went the outdoor section was shut. Both of us have food intolerances. Choices were limited but they have a good way of checking by way of an Ipad app referencing thier menu. Reasonably priced at around £25 a head including drinks."

"I only live down the road from The Anchor and I’ve been many times over the years but I do feel unfortunately it is becoming overpriced I had the burger at £16.95 which for what I received is simply too much and nothing special, there is a specialist burger restaurant in Heswall charging £3 less than this and is far better .The shame is as a business owner myself I feel I would prefer to go more regularly and not feel iam being overcharged but you will not be seeing me often because of your pricing, this opinion of mine is felt quite generally by friends and colleagues and for a Saturday night at 7-30 it felt very quiet .What a shame ."

"I was there on Friday night, it was busy, but after 7:30 a.m. it was quieter. we sat closer to the back of the restaurant where a beautiful evening light came in. the personal was friendly, though, when my friend arrived, she was not allowed to come through even though we were already there. the host insisted that she was waiting for her to come back. that was delicious. good menu. great drinks menu also. I had the black-belled Bao beer, which was beautiful and fluffy. the sauce was sweet and sticky, but not too sick. then I had the seabrane, which was a very generous part and delicious. the chorizo could have been a bit stronger, but still enjoyed it. I had a mini desert, brownie and latte. gooey and chocolate. a beautiful end to the evening. the service was a little slow, but they think it was up to how busy they were, because we were not in a hurry, we have nothing to do with it."

The food and menu were thoughtful and tasteful we shared the surf and turf with lobster and steak, as well as a cheese board for dessert it was all delicious. It was our first time visiting and we will definitely be coming back."

"While the service started off a bit slow, the roast dinners at this restaurant were outstanding. Our server, who we believe started her shift at 1pm, was exceptional and very attentive. Unfortunately, we didn't catch her name, but we were seated near the private door by the wine display at table 5. This young lady is truly an asset to your team. Overall rating: Food 5, Service 4, Atmosphere 5."

"I 'm greedy. I say this now so that you 'll understand my small disappointment at today 's meal. We popped in to the Prince Of Wales for a Sunday lunch as we 've eaten there on quite a few occasions and always had a really nice time. We were seated immediately and checked out the menu, paying particular attention to the 'roast ' section. I was a little indecisive so it was great to see an option to have a 'trio ' of meats with extra trimmings. It cost 2 quid more than a normal roast, but unfortunately was much smaller, meaning I had to finish off my Mother-in-law 's roast beef! I told you, I 'm greedy. I did however have a delicious chocolate brownie with caramel ice cream for dessert, so I rolled out of there content. I 'd go back again for sure, but I 'd probably order something else."

"It was my mums first time in the UK so brought her to Oxford for a nice day out, and of course I wanted her to try some proper traditional Sunday roast. So glad we came to Red Lion. The food was delicious and the portions are huge as seen in the picture. I got the chorizo pasta and that was amazing as well. Really good service and food. Would definitely recommend "
