"Lovely location, and good weather enabled everyone to sit outside on the sunny terrace. The staff were friendly and welcoming and provided good service, but the food was disappointing. Some sandwiches were dry, tasted as though they'd been made the day before. The waiter replaced it promptly with another dry sandwich. The desserts were small taster size portions (which was fine) but did not appear freshly made. The cream tea part of the menu was nice, but again a very small scone. The gluten free option was preferred over the regular afternoon tea by our group."

"We have stayed at the Kimberley hotel several times but I was not as impressed this time with the food. Our booking deal included a 2 course meal on the first night. My husband chose battered cod and I had the filleted fish. The battered fish was served lying on top of the chips which had been arranged in a row. He found the batter quite oily/greasy which he did not eat but consequently that had left the chips underneath soggy. My fish was nicely cooked. I was also upset to see that several of the courses had a supplement and therefore not offered in the choices unless an extra cost was incurred which further limited the already limited menu. The wine was also very pricey. I felt the £49 for 2 people sounded a good deal which included a bottle of house wine although the house wine was not advertised as an option to purchase. We chose not to eat in the restaurant on the second night"

"I visited this place with some friends for a couple of beers, looking to get away from the noisy pubs in Highworth. The bar area had a nice, laid-back atmosphere with people chatting and laughing, which added to the ambiance without overpowering our own conversation. The staff were friendly and promptly cleared our empty glasses. The owner was also present and took the time to speak to us, ensuring we were well taken care of, which was a nice gesture. Although I did not stay overnight, if the rooms are as good as the rest of the hotel, I would expect them to be clean and tidy."

"Unfortunately, we were seated at a table in the lobby, which resulted in a chilly draft every time the door opened for staff or other diners. While this was not the most comfortable location, I assume the restaurant was trying to accommodate as many customers as possible while following social distancing guidelines. I was disappointed by the lack of Covid awareness at the restaurant. We were not prompted to sanitize our hands at any point, despite the NHS app check-in being conveniently located right next to our table. Throughout our two-hour visit (service was quite slow), not a single staff member mentioned the app or encouraged customers to use it. It is important to remember that the pandemic is still ongoing and safety measures like sanitizing and contact tracing should be a priority. I would like to thank the waiter with the colorful waistcoat who served us for including a thoughtful "happy birthday" message on my friend's dessert slate. It was a special touch that was appreciated."

"Haven’t visited this (our local Toby) for a while but took advantage of the £6 voucher offer. Was pleasantly greeted on arrival and the front of house manager acknowledged our request for a quieter table (which had been specified on the booking). Even though it was really busy, she was very considerate and did her best to accommodate the request. She also asked about any allergies which is often sadly lacking (my daughter has a peanut allergy) and my daughter was subsequently given the tablet listing all the menu ingredients for checking. Escorted to our table and delighted to find that Jackie was our waitress…whom we’ve had the pleasure of being looked after by before. Always attentive, proactive, cheery and professional…she epitomises good customer service and always ensures that all are looked after (without being pushy) in a timely way. She also advised us a free meal promotion raffle…our ticket number being 990. We all had the carvery and were served by a polite and friendly chef who whilst the plates were ‘normal’ size, provided decent portions of meat. The quality of the food was excellent and piping hot (I burnt my mouth on a roast spud). It was certainly the best quality food we’d had here since previous visits. We were offered desserts by Jackie but on this occasion were too stuffed to give them a go! All in all, a really satisfying visit and we wouldn’t hesitate to visit again or recommend to others looking for a decent value meal of excellent quality. Keep it up Toby Carvery Almondsbury!"

"On arriving at the Toby Carvery I booked in through the registration system, as I was prompted to do so by the duty waiter who was seating personnel. On completion of the meal, I paid my dues and drove home. Approximately 10 days later, I got a PCN fine through the post, stating I was illegally parked in the Toby Carvery car park during the period of my meal. Euro Car Parks who is representing Toby Carvery were requesting a minimum payment of £60 if paid within the set time, or a £100 if I was to appeal or to go over the limited time in which to pay. I had pre booked my table for the times specified on the PCN fine notification, and I am right in saying, the car park is for Toby Carvery customers, of which I was according to the timings on the PCN notice fine. I had a reservation issued by Toby Carvery, and I am now facing a fine for parking in their car park, talk about taking your money and then shooting you! Furthermore, I am a registered 70% disabled war veteran, who hold s a blue badge, so parked accordingly. As you can appreciate, my walking ability isn't great, and greatly reduces my movement capability, and so therefore, can only walk from the car to the restaurant, hence why I parked in the car park, and that said, why are innocent people who are supporting the Toby Carvery chain being penalised for attending their booked table, and paying a fine similar to the charge for the meal, how is that right? It's not right, it's absolutely absurd and ridiculous, and I am shocked that Toby Carvery are supporting such actions, especially when it involves unfortunate disabled people like me. I must admit, I enjoyed all the times I spent at Toby Carvery, but since this stupid system/ action, I will no longer be visiting the restaurant anymore the whole setup with Euro Car Parks is a sham, and if they want to destroy their business, by penalising innocent people, then carry on."

What arrives was a very sorrowful thin granary sandwich with what looked liked ready made chive and cheese mush. Then to be told the QR code was wrong for this pub and they guessed , did it have Camden so offered Peroni. My wife had fish fingers on Brioche with chips in included at £10.95 far more value than the miserable wrong sandwich that was supplied at £8.45 plus fries at £3.95. The more I write the more angrier I find myself. The staff apologised that it was the system. As one has already paid via the QR code, you have already paid your money before seeing the food. Absolute miserable, far better value down the road at the riverside cafe in Bensons, much better place and food value excellent. This is an outrageous ripoff for this sandwich. I should also add that the Bill you are invoiced by Email doesn’t add up. It’s beyond me no matter how I interpret the vat on drinks and food which were both matched as 20%. Avoid there are far better value places. Maybe if my dissatisfaction at the time that I shared with the waiters was not so care freely ignored and unaddressed I could have been placated. "We often come here for Sunday carvery which is very good so thought we would try an evening meal for my Mum's birthday. I am afraid the overall service let down the whole experience. When we arrived, instead of being taken to our table by the waitress, she just pointed and said you are at that table over there. After being to a busy bar area to get our drinks we found out that the 2 waitress standing around did not take orders so we had to go back to the busy bar again and wait to give our food orders. When the food came it was very good, especially my seafood platter. Everyone thought the food was good except for my Mum who had gone for one of the specials. It was so poor especially for being a special. She had one tiny piece of fish with no sauce, 4-5 very small new potato's, a few carrots and a few bits of broccoli. All the veg was hard and there was not enough to satisfy even a person with the smallest appetite. We told the waitress about the hard veg but she just said oh right and there was no apology. When we spoke to the chap at the bar and said why don't the waitress take the orders he said he liked people to come to the bar so the staff could meet them. We all felt this was a lame reason and probably did not trust the teenage waitresses to take the orders. It is a real shame as the place is lovely and the food generally is pretty good but is missing a professional touch. We said we would not return for an evening meal but just stick to the Sunday Carvery."

"Here is an example of a dining room punching well above its weight and with charges to match £55 for 3 course meal . The basic food choice on the menu is good and varied 3 meats, 2 fish and a couple of vegetarian dishes but the subtext reveals it is to be doctored with other incongruous ingredients by a clever chef perhaps to justify its boast of fine dining to the highest standard or its 2 rosettes. English good quality food, well prepared should not need to be embellished or enhanced . Service was slow. Delivered almost entirely by a young waitress who could only manage one speed, a Caesar salad took over an hour to serve. She had not been taught table service and admitted knowing nothing of wine. Earlier promise by Ray or Roy to host our experience evaporated, he was seen only fleetingly. Had he been more in evidence things might have been better. And, to add to the dismal experience 12.5% was added to the bill for service? Breakfast was good and nicely presented except that the fruit salad on the menu was absent. Although the ingredients were all there on the buffet, it seems no-one had been bothered to prepare it. So, if you go here to eat, I wish you a better experience. I shall not return."

"My 91 year old mother has been a regular customer to this carvery for several years. She particularly likes this restaurant as she visits with family, which is a real treat for her and can choose manageable portions to suit her poor appetite. As she eats less than a child’s portion, I have often asked staff if she can have a child’s portion this request is always denied by staff. It sickens me to see other customers, both adults their children piling their plates high with obscenely amounts of food, then return for even more! I find it grossly unfair that she is always charged full price, despite the fact it’s clear to see she is elderly frail. As far as I’m concerned, she’s paying to support the cost of someone else’s gluttony."

"A pub with exceptional service from the moment you walk in you're treated with respect and helpful advice. The staff, even though the majority are very young are very polite and helpful. The quality of the food is excellent and at very competitive prices. Staff were all well intentioned but would benefit from further training and a uniformly neat appearance. Our set Valentines meal should have had fizz and canapés beforehand but neither arrived. The waiter did not ask how we wanted the fillet steaks to be cooked when the order was taken, which was unusual but not a cause for alarm in a larger premises like this. A waiter brought the matched wine for the first and second course at the same time, which was seconds after the bread basket had just been offered, and could not say which glass was for which dish. Moments after the innocuous starter and subsequent sorbet had been whisked away another waiter delivered our steaks: one blue and the other rare not our preference at all, but we ate what we could and left the rest. Our only specific request when ordering the food was for one dessert to be substituted by cheese and for that to be placed on or beside our table immediately rather than removed from a chiller moments before serving. This was ignored despite repeated requests for it to happen and so the cheese proved to be tasteless. Overall the entire menu lacked imagination and the chef did not show skills that encouraged a return visit. We will monitor the menu for a change in the kitchen and return once the front of house staff have had an opportunity to gain a little more experience."

"What a fantastic Sunday roast. I went with my family as we all love a roast but this was so much more. Firstly, we were greeted with a wonderful welcome from the staff. We then ordered our choice of roast which was beef or chicken and since I couldn't make up my mind what to have we were offered to have both, which we did and it was cooked beautifully, in addition the vegetables were many which consisted of: cabbage, swede, spinach, carrots, cauliflower, roasted parsnips and roast potatoes with the best gravy and as a lovely surprise, crispy roasted parsnip shavings on top of a plump Yorkshire pudding absolutely divine, best roast we have had in years and would highly recommend."
