"On Wednesday my partner surprised me with a meal here and I can honestly say it is one of the best Italian restaurants that I have ever been too! Every single person from the front of house ladies, manager, bartender and waiters was lovely! We were impressed by their professionalism and the way they built a rapport with us. Our main waiter was Alisso, he was extremely attentive to our needs and had a brilliant customer service manner. He recommended dishes, regularly topped up our glasses and made sure we enjoyed every part of our meal and service. Me and partner both ordered bread and the fried squid, prawn and courgette starter . The seafood was fried to perfection! juicy yet crispy. The selection of bread was warm and came with a selection of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For our mains I had the salt baked seabass as recommended by Alisso and I can honestly say that It was amazing. The fish came with a server who carefully took the fish out of the salt, de skinned boned the fish. It truly was spectacular and the seabass was so succulent that it melted in my mouth. My partner had the harissa grilled chicken which was moist and juicy with nice mellow spicy kick. My partner didn 't have a dessert but I had the chocolate fondant. Once again, I could not fault the tastiness and presentation of the food. To top of our evening, my partner picked the restaurant as David Luiz and Willian own the restaurant, my partner is a die hard Arsenal fan. We actually met one of them and my partner managed to get a picture with Willian which made his night! All all this restaurant is amazing, from the location in Mayfair, the interior, ambience, staff and food. I have already recommended this restaurant to my friends, family and the consultants that I work with and I will continue to do so!"

"A fabulous building in a magnificent setting, so it is to be recommended to those interested in architecture, let down by the delivery. Staff were all well intentioned but would benefit from further training and a uniformly neat appearance. Our set Valentines meal should have had fizz and canapés beforehand but neither arrived. The waiter did not ask how we wanted the fillet steaks to be cooked when the order was taken, which was unusual but not a cause for alarm in a larger premises like this. A waiter brought the matched wine for the first and second course at the same time, which was seconds after the bread basket had just been offered, and could not say which glass was for which dish. Moments after the innocuous starter and subsequent sorbet had been whisked away another waiter delivered our steaks: one blue and the other rare not our preference at all, but we ate what we could and left the rest. Our only specific request when ordering the food was for one dessert to be substituted by cheese and for that to be placed on or beside our table immediately rather than removed from a chiller moments before serving. This was ignored despite repeated requests for it to happen and so the cheese proved to be tasteless. Overall the entire menu lacked imagination and the chef did not show skills that encouraged a return visit. We will monitor the menu for a change in the kitchen and return once the front of house staff have had an opportunity to gain a little more experience."

"I booked the Wellesley Hotel as I had read the reviews and thought it sounded ok and was a reasonable price. I didn’t want to spend £70 or more on a festive tea as I had done in the past, so £35 pp was a good price. We arrived early for our seating but the table wasn’t ready. No problem there as we were asked to sit in the bar and complimentary nibbles were brought out. We were called in after 15 minutes and were advised that the lunch service had gone over time. We were to be the only party in the room for a little while until 2 other guests arrived. The room was small but the tables were spaced adequately apart, so we weren’t sitting on top of one another. We ended up choosing the champagne tea at £50 per head. Drinks came out first followed by fresh strawberries as a starter. Next was a plate of sandwiches each and we were told by the wait staff we could ask for more at anytime, which we did. They were delicious especially the small tomato and mozzarella focaccia. An added touch was a small glass of mulled wine each. Scones and cakes were next and these were also very good. The cakes weren’t very Christmassy but that was fine. We asked for an extra plate of plain and fruit scones as they were pretty good and so was the jam and lemon butter accompanying them. The second serving also meant the plates of jam, cream etc were refreshed which was most welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea. We were not rushed, service was excellent and the room and table very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful and did a great job. Congratulations to them all (including the pianist). Having experienced quite a few afternoon teas in London, I would recommend The Wellesley."
