"I first visited this restaurant in 2016 and I was a bit dissapointed because the menu was limmited and, on that occasion, the food was not cooked as I thought it should have been. Today I had something to celebrate and I decided to read the menu online to see if something changed because the atmosphere and decor was (and still is) authentic amazing, arranged in a fusion of Middle Eastern Morrocan style. The menu was different so I gave it another chance; and I am happy I did!!! The food is tasty, healthy and looks appetizing. Most of all they have variety so even a fussy person will find plenty of intriguing options to choose from. We will go back because there are still many more tempting dishes to try. It is also worth mentioning the staff were very friendly, courteous and eager to please. In conclusion, a little hidden gem, in the Exeter city centre, well worth seeking out. Thank you, Al Farid ! *Update: we went back today for a meal and it was fantastic! Richard went above beyond to make everything perfect. I called in a few hours before to ask if they can improvise a cake and when they brought the dessert one had a in it; they sang with us and they even bought a birthday card!! In business as in life little things weigh a lot so thank you, my darlings, for being so sweet and running this business in such an amazing way!"

A mesmerising experience. Beautiful decor throughout that’s reminiscent of the pages of Arabian Nights, excellent service and fantastic food full of flavour.

Great experience at Al-Farid, unique to travel several floors through tight stairways to get to the top floor. We enjoyed an all you can eat curated menu from the chef, this consists of different dishes served every 20 minutes. A real treat within Exeter

Great restaurant, went after a bodybuilding competition and it was exactly what we needed! Feasted away on incredible food and plenty of it! Staff accommodated us (group of 6) despite being fully booked, they found us an area which was lovely. Would highly recommend. View menu

I visited this restaurant for lunch with my family and it was a great choice. We opted for the set menu for 4 people, and the starters were so filling that they could have been a main course on their own. For the main course, we ordered the mixed shish and two tagines - one with lamb and one vegetarian. The meat was cooked perfectly, with the lamb literally falling off the bone. It felt like a lavish feast. To end the meal, we enjoyed a refreshing mint tea.

After a wonderful trip to Marrakesh, my family and I visited Al Farid Restaurants last month for dinner on a Friday with a group of four. We ordered the mix shish platter for two and six different mezze dishes, which were all delicious. The service we received was top notch, and we were impressed by the beautiful building and decor that reminded us of Marrakesh. As someone originally from the Middle East, I rarely find restaurants with food of this quality. A big thank you to the entire Al Farid team we highly recommend this restaurant.

Popped in after 8pm on a Saturday night on the off chance for a table of two. Obviously they were full but asked to take a seat and they would see what they could do. Ordered two bottles of Moroccan lager which was fab, far to drinkable and given menus to check out. Waited maybe 10 minutes then told they had a table for us. Chose dishes off the meze menu including fig and cheese parcels which were fab and one of the best houmous I have tasted. Great service in a fantastic atmosphere, would happily eat here again and again. Thank you guys View menu

Our waiter was so warm and friendly we unfortunately didn't manage to get his name. It seemed like a busy night when we visited, but service was still relatively quick. And the food was exquisite. We ordered a mezze platter with 6 dishes, each of which was spot on, grilled squid which was cooked to perfection, lamb tagine which melted in the mouth, and a round of lemonades which had a hint of rose water in them. There wasn't a single dish that I'd rate lower than an 8. Needless to say, I'd definitely go back. As an aside, their menu has several vegetarian and vegan options so it seems a good place for groups with diverse dietary needs.

Read the reviews and we decided to visit on very busy Saturday , luckly they had a cancellation and put on the waiting list. Resturant was very busy but service was so smooth. i found some reviews are very unkind and when i see how this independent resturant in such beautifull characterful building runs by very hard working staff ,who are none stop try to please the customers , i decided to give this resturant 10 out of 10, as i feel i absouley step to Marakesh. staff are friendly and knowledgeable who are care about the business, we order some tagine and a few mezze and they all cooked perfectly and serve very quick. Their kiss by rose cocktail must try. overal thank you to all alfarid team...

"Owner rude and arrogant! And you can’t trust them and they won’t make your order right by just saying too busy to make it right! I called in to make a booking but told no tables available but I could place an order for takeaway so I ordered two gluten free pizzas. I also asked what size are the gluten free pizza crust and was told 11”. I was told I would need to wait 1 hour 30 minutes and I agreed. I ordered the Gluten free 11 “ crust as advised for one Olive Tree and one Garlicky . When I arrived, I asked the person with the pizzas to confirm the gluten free pizzas. She looked a bit worried and said they were not gluten free. I asked the other girl if I would have to wait another 1.5 hrs and she said they would expedite my pizzas. The owner came over and said he had two vegan pizzas for 8:30 pm and I said that is not what I ordered. He said he was too busy to remake the pizzas. He said the girl that took the order said she didn’t remember gluten free was ordered. As a Celiac , those are the first words out of my mouth when I order any food and I also inquired the size of the gluten free crust and frequently they are pre-made and sealed and I was told they are 11”. He would not remake the pizzas as he said he has to trust his staff. So he implies the customer are lying and uses it as an excuse to not make it right. It doesn’t excuse not remaking the pizzas correctly as ordered gluten free as I was told a few minutes earlier. I assured him I ordered both pizzas gluten free and my wife came in and also confirmed as she heard me place the order on the phone. I realize this pizza must be well done and popular but not to remake the pizzas and imply me a liar and refusing to remake them is unprofessional. I find his behavior arrogant, rude and unprofessional and just because he went to Italy to learn how to make pizza doesn’t make him a good owner and manager. Hopefully, he won’t blow off this review but learn from it. Always make it right for your customers! And never insult your customers! It also suggest he doesn’t care about his customers because he is too busy. He walks away and just repeats he has to trust his employees. Poor excuse for not making the pizzas as ordered! Employees can make mistakes and as a Coeliac I will also double check as I did when I came to pick up the pizzas. I would advise Coeliacs to not try these pizzas as you can’t trust them to make them to your order. Peace be with you! Dietary restrictions You cannot trust this place to make your gluten free as ordered and they won’t remake it if they made it wrong and just say I have to trust my staff. Very Poor attitude from an owner and a bit arrogant! Customers don’t appear to be important and must be lying if they get an order wrong."
