"I visited this restaurant in March and again in mid-October, and both times I ordered the smoked haddock and potato chowder. It was my first experience with Scotland's Cullen skink, and I was thrilled by how simple and delicious it was—it really hit the spot, especially on that windy late winter day. The service in March was pleasant; we were part of a tour group, so the staff had their hands full (especially after a power outage when they had just regained electricity). However, in October, the service was not as great. We ordered a coffee that never arrived, although it still appeared on our bill (it was removed without any hassle). We also had trouble getting the attention of our waitress or anyone else when we needed assistance. But it wasn't a major issue, as they seemed quite busy. Overall, it was still a very tasty meal. If I ever return to Portree, I’ll definitely come back, though I might try something different. But the temptation of that chowder is strong..."

It was a busy place, so reservation is mandatory. I felt like sitting in a lobby, not in a restaurant, was’t cosy. The food was ok- we had steak and cod with smoked salmon. And a glass of nice Chile red wine. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

You should definitely make reservations, ideally a few days in advance, as it’s a small place and this applies to anywhere in Portree. The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the slow-cooked beef, while my husband had the salmon, and both dishes were gluten-free and incredibly tasty.

One of the few places that have a table for 5+ people. Easy to do a booking through Google as well and I definitely recommend doing that since the whole village is very busy. The service was very slow unfortunately. We had to ask for water at least 5 times and we even went to the bar to finally get some water. The menu had a lot of options for food and drinks. We shared all the burgers and we ended up liking only the one with the fried chicken. The brisket one had a mayo that was not of our liking and the one with beef was too dried out. The soups were tasty. Compared to other places this was ok if you compare the price with the quantity and quality of the food but not the best.
