"It was very very cold but we knew we had to have a lunch in Marseille and the location was perfect. To start off I had a cafe au lair and my husband a beer. And originally we were going for something light but once we saw other patrons food come out let’s say we changed our mind. I had the mussels and my husband had a burger with the best bun he said he ever had. The mussels were the best I have had in a very long time and so plentiful. The photo is representative of about 2/3 as I forgot to take a photo to start. And then we had profiteroles which were pretty good considering they were stuffed with ice cream which was a surprise. But great ice cream! Would highly recommend as the staff also were fabulous"

Had a lovely lunch here. I had the Mussels and my husband had the seafood. Both meals were absolutely delicious.

Great moules frites made a la minute. Best this season :) Fun staff, nice location in the old harbor and petit train Marseille.

Very nice atmosphere and friendly service. Not cheap, wine list very overpriced. Food was delicious and portion sizes were great.

Nice fish soup, very friendly personnel, excellent (local) wine. Too bad they don't serve dinner: we probably would have gone again!

A few years after our last stop by, Au Doyen is still great and good, a good alchemy between relax but professional atmosphere. See you next time ;)

A nice little café in the old port of Marseille, with shaded outdoor seating looking out over the myriad of boats crammed into the port. Great for coffee/beer/soft drinks. Good service.

Bouillabaisse, fish soup, fisherman's stew, it doesn't matter what you call it but my wife wanted to understand the dish that turned Julia Child into a cook. Order it, and for goodness sake google how to eat it before digging in. It's a complex procedure, but worth it. The one we had here was more than enough food (neither of us finished) and plent yummy.

This restaurant is in the pavement. We went to enter from crossing the road. Immediately the manager started shouting in French about it being restaurant, not a passage and that we could not walk through it! Well it had an entrance/exit from the street. Great first impression. We had been looking for somewhere to have a snack but immediately turned round and walked away.

... and to go when you are looking for a good place to eat on the harbor front. The boss very involved made sure that our family of 5 was well seated and that our young son of 5 would enjoy his lunch. Both food and service were excellent and the price totally reasonable. We enjoyed particularly the seafood and the French fries which were amazing. We realized that there were many usual guests and some were very typical drinking their wine in the sun behind their shades. We had a great lunch!
