"Turned away during service hours as a member of staff had gone down with flu and gone home. I work in hospitality myself and never heard of such a thing.. learn to manage your customers expectations if there is likely to be slow service, etc. so they can make the decision themselves whether to stay or leave. Really disappointed, drove a long way as we like the food here but probably won't risk it again in future."

Stopped in for dinner. Excellent service. Children's menu had great variety and even has starters. They advocate local produce and it really shows in the food, thoroughly enjoyable meal. Even the children's fish fingers were better quality than any we've seen before. Best gammon steak I've ever had. Recommend without hesitation. Service: 5 Location: 5

"Upon arrival we were shown to our room which was very pleasant. The snug was very snug which seemed more of a meeting point for gossiping staff behind the bar and their friends. The meal was nice enough albeit almost thrown onto the table in a rush, the service was appalling. Very slow, our bottle of wine sat on the bar for ages with no sign of staff aware of it, eventually we took it ourselves. We asked for a port twice to go with our cheese but finished the cheese before the staff even got their act together to take the bottle from the shelf (we cancelled the port). We were not approached again for coffee or anything else, we left the restaurant and retired to our room. The staff seemed to be drifting around in the three separate restaurant rooms with no clear idea of who was doing what. The management was very poor. I wouldn’t say they were under staffed just poorly managed. The bedroom was very noisy from the bar downstairs, scraping tables and chairs in the afternoon through to late evening. We made a coffee in the room to find there wasn’t any sugar and no means of getting any unless we dressed ourselves again the go to the bar. Breakfast was poor, very dry toast, sloppy undercooked boiled egg and the garden breakfast which claimed to have halloumi cheese was substituted with a rather nasty looking black pudding. All in all a very disappointing visit and an expensive one at that."

"Our daughter bought us a voucher for afternoon Tea which we were very much looking forward to. We chose to go to the Aylsham venue rather than Norwich so that we could enjoy a visit to the town both before and after the event. Our time was booked for 12.00noon. We were shown to our table, everything was explained and we were invited to look at the beautiful selection of cakes, scones, teas and coffees available. The choice of sandwiches and various bread options..... So far so good. The place was busy but not crowded. My wife and I were really enjoying our food in a quaint little place..... However one of the waitresses said three times to us that they could provide boxes for anything we wanted to take home if we couldnt manage to eat it straight away.....! It got to 1.20 pm and we were just about to start to eat the final tier of what looked like delicious cake when the same waitress came to our table and said..... The next people were here and could we please consider finishing up to vacate the table ! At no time were we told that there was a time limit ,never mind a 90 minute time limit to enjoy our otherwise lovely afternoon tea. I have since checked out the website and to my knowledge there is nothing on there to say that the clock is being watched and a fast food mentality is enforced upon customers. I make a point of writing this review as a warning to others so that they can get a starting and leaving time agreed before the drive over 40 miles as we did to visit this place."
