"This restaurant is absolutely fantastic with its location right on the canal. There are plenty of passing canal boats and excellent walking paths. It's only a 30 minute walk into town. Richard, the manager, is amazing, as are the two owners. The chef is truly talented and the breakfast is excellent. The prices are very reasonable and they are dog friendly. The toilets are open during business hours and there is fresh water available. It may not have electrical hookups, but it is very quiet and peaceful. I give it a perfect 10 out of 10 rating."

I loved the atmosphere and quirky layout of this local pub. Such a change from the ubiquitous high street chain pubs we see today.

It's a nice local pub, they're polite and civil. The regulars are welcoming and when requested they even agreed to put the match on! View menu

Went in for a quick drink, character pub, friendly family atmosphere. Sky sports, plenty of outdoor seating, so good in Summer. Close to Oxford canal.

What used to be a wonderful family pub has changed. It was loud with people shouting, arguing and swearing. Really bad atmosphere did not stay for a second drink.

I recently revisited your restaurant after a long time and I must say, it has hit rock bottom. The new owner was constantly scratching his bottom while wearing shorts, serving drinks and food. It felt more like a games pub than a family pub, with no cozy areas. I was told I could use the restaurant with my dog, but it was not very clean and the owner's hygiene was questionable. There was a lot of bad language in the skittles rooms and bar, and the snug room was only for pool. I would not return or recommend this pub. View menu

We booked here for our annual family get-together between xmas and new year and had a lovely meal. There were 11 of us in total. Some ordered from the main menu while myself and others had the Xmas 2 course dinner, and it was fab. Couldn't fault it. Proper home cooked dinner and very satisfying. Huge credit to the chef! The lady who looked after us (Neave? was great. She went above and beyond with her service, which was outstanding and is a credit to the place. We will most certainly book here again for the next one!

We stopped at the Barley Mow whilst on a Canal Boat Holiday, the welcome we got when we arrived was very polite and friendly, we had booked a table before arriving as we had heard it could be busy, once we ordered the food didn’t take long to arrive and everyone in the party really enjoyed their food, all in all a very enjoyable atmosphere and very friendly crowd in the pub, I would HIGHLY recommend anyone to come and stop and get something to eat and have a drink here, I will definitely be returning in the future, Thankyou very much Richard.

"Visited this place for the first time last night and have to say the service was really really poor from the second we walked through the door. Our table was booked for 7.45pm we didn’t get seated till 8.20pm and when the young girl seated us there was no apologies for waiting and she came across very blunt..the soup starter was lovely but the bread was a let down it was like cake and the bread with that brown sauce on ruins the bread it tasted pretty nasty,my friend liked the bread but said that the sauce ruined it. The bread to me just wasn’t very nice I make home made bread myself and this was pretty poor it tasted nothing like homemade bread. For the main I had a medium rare steak the steak was very raw inside you may aswell have just gave me a cow mooing and only the sides had been touched it was cold in the middle!! and warm on the outside (I ate it as I was so hungry I had been working all day and came straight home dressed and out again) but it had not been cooked properly to how I like it, I felt funny after eating the steak. The service was really poor one lad said to us “have you finished with that” nearly everybody spoke so lazy there was no professionalism. There was only one person who stood out as I overheard him serve another table and he was very welcoming and professional he was wearing all black and was also working on the bar he had dark blond ish hair and spoke gentle,I hope your paying him well because his manners etc is impeccable and he was very polite to us when he served us upstairs at the bar."
