"The staff were all wonderful and the setting was pleasant, but we were let down by the food. Unfortunately, no one came by to check on us, so we couldn't voice our concerns at the time. It could be that the dishes we chose just weren't the best options—for example, the sea bass was served with a completely beige plate that could have used some color, while the sirloin was small, thin, overly tenderized, and dry even though we ordered it medium rare. The accompanying wedges and roasted root vegetables were undercooked. On the other hand, the pies at the next table did look appetizing, although we overheard some comments about them having too much pastry. This was quite noticeable since our tables were too close together, making it hard to ignore their conversation. While the staff were friendly, they weren't very attentive; no one offered to refill our wine glasses despite them being empty. I'll likely return to try their excellent range of toasties and maybe a pie, but I won't be coming back when I'm in the mood for a good steak."

A little dishonest to piggy back off reviews from the olive tree. The establishment changed hands October 2023 so bare that in mind when looking at reviews. Service: Dine in View menu

The food here is fantastic, and the team is wonderful! For parking, I suggest using the Frankwell car park. It's spacious, usually not crowded, and just a short stroll away. For families, the kids' menu is excellent, and the staff are very accommodating with children. I dined in for dinner, and the price per person ranged from £10 to £20. View menu

Our recent visit to BEVANS Neighbourhood Kitchen and Bar was absolutely fantastic. We chose to dine in one of the pods in the rear garden, which provided a picturesque atmosphere, beautifully lit and comfortably warmed by an infrared heater. This location is particularly convenient if you plan to attend a performance at the Severn Theatre. We were also impressed by their consideration of showtimes; if you're going to the theatre, just inform them, and they'll make sure you finish your meal on time. The food was excellent, offering great value for money. Overall, our experience at BEVANS was a delight, and we highly recommend it as a charming spot for a pre-theatre meal.

We were fans of the Olive Tree and we are even bigger fans of its new image as Bevans. Stopped off for a quick bit of lunch and were only planning on having a main, however the starters were so intriguing we had to go for them too. Food was all terrific, the pie was absolutely top notch. Honestly couldn't fault it, even the mushy peas were old school, soaked overnight type that you just don't see any more. We stopped off a second time for a few pints, parked up in the window to watch the world go by. We didn't eat on the second occasion but did nose at what others were having. Some brilliant smells, golden brown pies, crispy looking fish and chips etc Really looking forward to my next visit

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
