"From initial emails back and forth, to arriving on the day, we could not have asked for more. The team were prompt to respond and so friendly and helpful throughout. The team had even attached some pretty decorations to the ceiling, and we were able to arrive slightly earlier than the booked time to decorate further. The food was exceptional, a great range of freshly made sandwiches, cakes, scones with jam and cream alongside homemade coleslaw and salad. The drink choice was extensive and everyone was able to find something they enjoyed (with great comments about the hot chocolate and coffee in particular! The baby shower overran slightly but we were able to stay a little past closing time, which was really appreciated too. After only being to the cheeky bean a couple of times before for brunch and coffee, I will certainly be visiting more often and will continue to recommend this lovely business. A big thankyou again. "Unfortunately the Sunday menu has shrunk yet again only choice of beef or pork now if wanting a roast lunch, Food arrived in a timely manner but lukewarm. Terrible issue with flies not enjoyable having to keep swatting them away from Food and drinks. Service charge added to bill ...why , it should be customers choice to tip, not to be made to feel uncomfortable if you don't Want to. Tipping used to be because it was poorly paid, minimum wage changed that, I did ask if the servers got the tip and they do and the server said they work hard so deserve it, ummm they are being paid to work hard. Seems to have had a big change of staff, unfortunately put of going again."

"I thoroughly enjoyed our day spent at the spa and hotel but there were a couple of things that could have been improved with more staff training.Following a spa treatment, we went for lunch in the restaurant and the waitress whilst very charming, consistently forgot part of our order and had to keep returning to us to be reminded. She forgot to tell the kitchen we wanted chips, she forgot what sauce we had asked for so brought out two different types, and she forgot what drinks we had ordered. Might I suggest that a pad and pen would solve this problem? Our food also took a very long time to come out, meaning we had to order another round of drinks. The food once we got it was very nice and had we been offered dessert we probably would have had one. As it happened we drove round the corner to the designer outlet and had dessert there instead."

"This place was such a good find! My friend and I go away at this time of the year to explore various gardens and we picked to stay here as it was close to Wells. Having stayed in Wells once before, I remembered that the parking wasn't very easy so we decided to stay a short distance outside. Our hosts, Peter and Veryan, were the best I have ever come across in an establishment of this sort. They and their staff were so personable and did everything they could to make our stay so comfortable. Veryan was the breakfast chef and everything was cooked fresh to order and Olly was the restaurant chef. His guinea fowl risotto we had one night was out of this world (and we were keen to tell him so). A special mention should also go to Janey who was on hand every breakfast time. The pub also served as a small village shop and a drop off point for Evri parcels, all of which made it the hub of the community. Villagers would call in for their daily paper or milk and would stop for a coffee or even breakfast. I have never seen anythng quite like it so impressive. The place and the weather really have made this a memorable holiday for us! Thank you."

"Outstanding service!!! Wow what an incredible group of waiters/waitresses! We had a group evening meal of 14 people here on a Saturday night in Dec. It was a Xmas set menu which we preordered and that was all communicated and organised effectively prior to the evening. On the evening itself, the service provided was the best we’ve ever had and the whole group truly felt like we were the only table in the pub. The staff were so attentive to what was going on, when the best time was for the meals to come out, when people wanted drinks, when to bring out a birthday cake honestly no one had to ask for a single thing because they were just so on it. The food was amazing, filling and we were all served literally at the same time so no one was waiting for food because it all come together. Just amazing amazing amazing. If you are looking for a pub in Somerset to host a hassle free, tasty group meal I genuinely couldn’t recommend this pub more. We can’t wait to return. Thank you!!"
