"Update: March 2024 Nice welcome and the dining area is pleasant. The prompt service asking for our drinks order was good, but overall, service was just a bit too quick I understand that they want to move covers through, but if you're dining out for pleasure, it's nice to have thinking time and not dash through the process. The menu is extensive, but includes a lot of dishes that work well from frozen. Plenty of fish choices and a pub grub/Italian vibe so plenty of yummy things to choose from. The cheese burgers are good, not chewy, well seasoned and nice garnish. The lamb shank was generous and tasted great. The cod was somewhat over cooked, but still tasty. The beer selection here is now great if you like a session bitter Greene King IPA and Timothy Taylor makes a hard decision, but a nice problem to have. Sensible prices make it easy to return, no need to wait for a special occasion. Will definitely return sometime soon. Previously: Nice, good value food with a decent selection of beers. The fish pie and cottage pie are always very good."

Love the ambience and the food. Great service and great view of the Swans floating by on River Ouse that flows by tirelessly.

Came here with my son. Both had fish and chips. Food was good, fish could have had more batter though, but chips and sauces were very good. Children’s portion had lots of fries and fish but a small amount of peas. Service was excellent though, really polite and attentive.

Just read some of the more negative Reviews must be in a different universe. Went on Friday with a group. Service could not have been more friendly and helpful from start to finish. The Food 10/10, wide choice, everything cooked perfectly even to the standards of the most fussy within the group. Highly recommended, cannot wait to go back,

Lovely warm ambience on entering. Table ok but draughty so a little cold. All the staff we encountered were lovely and polite although they were ready to clear our table before we were ready to leave! Good menu choice however the meal was only cool to warm, never ideal. I like piping hot food so as nice as it was this was very disappointing. Reasonable value for money but HOT FOOD IS A MUST.

This was a catch up birthday lunch with a friend. We were left to enjoy our meal at our leisure whilst chatting. The food was well cooked and seasoned and delicious. The cost was average for pub food. It is a very extensive menu and I wonder how they'd cope if the restaurant was full and lots of different meals were ordered but ours were both excellent today. The place is nicely decorated and I had a beautiful glass for my brandy. I couldn't fault today after they transferred our food on to warm plates. Why oh why do places serve food on stone cold plates?

"This pub has a beautiful summer garden and we enjoyed watching the variety of wild birds that flittered around. Whoever maintains the garden does so with pride and with knowledge of how to create a wonderful space. The same pride and knowledge is not represented...in our experience of the food. It took over an hour to receive a burnt fish chips and a fish burger that was a tiny bit of cheap fish cake. The fish cake tasted unsurprisingly dreadful, more potato than fish, a frozen bought in effort and was returned uneaten. After the hour's wait the kitchen was closed so no alternative was offered. The fish chips were supposed to come with creamed peas, but instead came with plain frozen peas. The claimed home made tartare sauce was out of a jar. The batter was dark brown and bitter and clearly over cooked to the point of being burnt. The chips were equally over cooked and dry. In our view the chips were frozen not fresh. The chef needs to take a leaf out of the gardeners book and take some pride at what leaves their workplace, as we left hungry and bitterly disappointed. That food should never have left the kitchen in the state it was and is hugely disrespectful to the customer. The service was friendly but slow. We weren't offered an apology nor were we asked how the fish chips were, despite them clearly being picked at and mostly left. The pub wasn't busy with perhaps 4/5 tables occupied by the time we left. This pub can clearly do better judging by the over positive reviews. It manifestly failed for us, on our first visit as locals."
