"Newcastle Village Hotel, you can’t REALLY expect to deliver a shoddy cash-grabbing experience like the party of 09/12/2017 and not be called out on it. £30.00 for a turkey dinner? Maybe, for a quality Norfolk bird with ALL the trimmings cooked to perfection; absolutely NOT for this spew. In fact the difference between what it said on the menu and what was served up is so brazen that one can almost admire the cheek of it. The “Proscuitto Wrapped Turkey Breast” was not wrapped in ANYTHING: it was just cheap-tasting turkey breast, like cash and carry stuff. Likewise the “pigs in blankets” HAD NO BLANKETS: They were just cocktail sausages, and not quality ones but the type that contain trotters, ears and lips. The stuffing made Paxo taste like the work of a culinary master by comparison, and the only things I’ve EVER tasted that were soggier than the roast potatoes were the roast parsnips in the next tray along. I can’t comment on the sprouts or carrots as I don’t like either: it would have been nice to have had a greater choice. When the hotel emailed us the menu weeks earlier it asked about any dietary needs, so we advised that one of our party had a gluten intolerance. If he expected a bespoke meal he was sadly mistaken: on the night he was just told not to eat the sausages or the stuffing. Two and a half hours later, following complaints, the man who seemed to be in charge offered to knock up some gluten-free pasta. It was way too late by then. To be fair this has been my experience of Christmas parties over the years: the food is invariably overpriced and substandard yet enough people are persuaded to cough up in advance to make them highly lucrative ventures. It’s a cynical business, and the Village Hotel is down there with the worst of them. Oh yeah, and my cracker contained this tiny little spinning top."

Staff very friendly and keen to help which warranted at decent tip. Food was nice but the choice was limited. Portion size was decent for the average appetite.

Lovely new refurbished restaurant, excellent friendly and helpful staff, in particular Katie and Charleen, helping cater for our food intolerances. Highly recommended.

Buca restaurant is located with the Village Hotel and I must say how impressed I was by great service and the food, everything was very tasty and you can have 3 course meal for £15. View menu

I don't usually eat here when I stay as it is quite expensive for what it is. We had the mushroom risotto and the chicken salad. Some of the chicken in the salad wasn't cooked properly and the risotto was a littl gluey. Don't think I'll be eating here next time.

My partner and I are staying overnight at The Village Hotel as a little minimoon and had a 2 course meal included within the restaurant. The staff were outstanding as was the food. The chef even rustled up a dessert especially for my partner so that I have to eat mine alone. We were also given complimentary drinks. We would definitely come back. Massive thanks to Laura (our waitress) and Michael (the chef).

this restaurant has been turned into a horrible tacky sports bar. Keep well away, We often ate there or in the bar area. Over the last few months they have knocked walls through and made it into a American style tacky bar/resturant if you could call it that. Locals who often went there are all complaining at the change and how it has been spoilt. The tacky sports bar now attracts the wrong people unfortunately. View menu

The place is always empty and that's for a very good reason: it's overpriced. As an example, a main with a side plus a dessert cost me £25.50. And I didn't go for the most expensive options! The food is not bad, but the options are very limited. I had to eat there during a whole week and I got tired of it. I ordered pasta dishes in three different occasions and they pretty much had the same taste. I only tried one of the starters and it was very good. The three sides I tried were very bland. But the deserts were tasty. Moreover, there are almost no options for vegetarians which is quite surprising at this age and in this country. A positive thing are the waiters, which are very young people...
