"The Belvedere is let down by this Bistro. The service is diabolical. We ordered Coffee, a Pot of Tea and two applestrudels. The drinks arived after a long wait. Our strudels were more elusive than Harry Lime.We were treated to the sight of diners who had arrived later than we had tucking in to their meals. Querying this with the staff we were told "two minutes" This happened twice, and after a wait of one hour we admitted defeat and paid for our coffee and tea and departed never to return. We we not the only diners whose orders were very slow in arriving or failed to appear. They were all told "two minutes" We wasted a good hour there waiting for service and in my view we should have had the cost of the coffee and tea written off. To sum up - a shambolic and uncaring outfit who have no place in somewhere like the Belvedere. Go somewhere else,I suspect that the Hauptbahnhof nearby would have been a better bet for refreshment."

Fresh salad, juicy chicken and good fries. Simple but good. Staff is also great! A very pleasant surprise for a museum restaurant.

we ordered a cake and tea, the prices were ok, but the service was super rude, we asked for a second cup, because the water arrived on a separate piece which holds water for 4 cups, but the waiter told us in a very rude...manner that it's not possible We ordered chocolate cake which was ok

On a rainy day the inside cafe space wasn’t up to seating all the customers that were waiting. It was all a bit chaotic a pity as the tea and cakes were amongst the best we had. Tables were tiny and we had to...juggle our plates to get them on! Not the most relaxing experience at all. I imagine on a sunny day it’s much better.

The Belvedere experience really needs a full day, and what better place to take a rest than charming Menagerie Bistro situated right between the Lower and Upper palace. The menu is simple, yet delicious and varied – to mention one, the penne with white wine sauce and shrimps goes superbly with a glass of Prosecco. If the weather allows for it, sit outside to soak up the beauty of your royal surroundings. View menu

I was pleasantly surprised by this bistro, as restaurants in tourist attractions can be terrible. A good range of lunch dishes, mostly around 9 or 10 euros but ranging from 6 to 14 or so. The salad with warm chicken was quite good, very moist marinated chicken and a generous amount of it. The oven-baked gnocchi was also good. The room is nice, and the service was excellent. Try to get one of the tables overlooking the formal gardens.

After my visit of the Belvedere Palace and Surroundings, I decided to have a nice slice of Mozart Torte and a cup of cofee - Viennese Style! It was yummy and I relished every crumb of the cake! The cafe had opened their garden patio as well, so I sat out and enjoyed the luscious sunshine! The staff and waitresses were very pleasant and helpful and knew excellent English. I must come back here again and try the other main faire that's on the menu!

Since we were at the palace around noon, we had lunch in their café. They have outdoor seating too, but that was all full. Service was a tad slow but the room is nice. quite a hike to the restrooms however. Almost need a map since you need to go through several rooms of the palace and downstairs. This provided a view of some of the palace: empty rooms with boring art on the walls. The only alternative for food in the immediate area is a Greek restaurant right across the street from the Palace. We ate there another day when we were in this area. More variety of food and drinks, but also a three star rating, in our estimation. View menu

The place was full and the staff at the entrance counter did their best to ignore us. A group of people then came in and walked straight in front of us. We embarrassedly said to them that we had been waiting for some time but...they took no notice and ran to fetch a table when it became available. We then asked one of the waiters and he said that there was no line and that it was ok for them to sit. We were taken aback by his patronising attitude especially as he had witnessed us waiting for some time and the other people jumping the queue. The food came through surprisingly fast and was good overall, but the experience had been ruined already.

I was wary of all museum cafes in general but I was short of time and had to grab a quick bite. So I settled into this pretty high-ceilinged place with a view to the palace garden. The salmon with risotto was wholesome and delicious. The ingredients used were emphatically fresh. Even the humble snow peas mixed into the risotto shone - exuding a bright vegetal aroma as if they just came straight from the garden. The risotto rice was cooked to a perfect texture and consistency - it hit that elusive spot between tender viscosity and palate- pleasing chewiness. Just rice stewed in stock - but it was a gift that just kept giving. The cafe's weakness seems to be its desserts. The Esterhazy torte I...
