"As a group of three couples with a yong child, we were all excited to visit Cafe Rhubarb, the reviews were good, as was the cafe’s location in Crieff. Unfortunately from the moment we walked through the door our experience was poor and only got worse. The staff were all quite rude and the atmosphere was unwelcoming. We very quickly felt like an inconvenience. The menu looked great, a bit on the pricey side, but we were happy to pay more based on the foot being of good value. Unfortunately, the food that was served did not reflect the quality, the price or the reviews. We ordered pancakes with banana for our wee one, it arrived with a long hair which later was made clear to have come from the chef who came out without a hairnet. The salmon bagel arrived in an undesirable brown colour, the £7 two slices of french toast were both burnt, and we had to remind the waiting staff of drinks that were not delivered. We also had to ask for cutlery, salt and sauces after the food had been delivered. We were happy to leave the salmon without a replacement meal. The chef made loud comments about the salmon, which could be heard from the kitchen. It was made unpleasantly clear that she (the chef) was unpleased that our party didn’t wish to eat a the salmon. The cafe itself has an evident condensation issues. As all the windows, mirrors and even the toilet walls/mirrors and floors were soaked in condensation. The humidity was quite uncomfortable and did not make for the nicest environment to enjoy a meal. My partner being a National customer experience trainer, tried speaking with the server about removing the salmon from the bill. We were met with a very rude and defensive chef and server, who were very loudly and rudely defensive. This created a very uncomfortable atmosphere for my group and undoubtedly for the the rest of the cafe. Some of the food served was lovely and quite enjoyable, so we really hope that the cafe consider their approach when dealing with customer service in the future. We hope they address issues with health and safety like the condensation and the lack of a hairnet from their chef."

My family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Wonderful food, great friendly service, fantastic atmosphere in family run cafe. Couldn’t fault it and will certainly be back.

This little cafe beats all others for service, quality, selection and price. Can strongly recommend their bacon brie and cranberry paninis. Everything so fresh dont walk past!!

Service was abysmal, our waiter was rude, arrogant and extremely stand off-ish. Attitude of kitchen was vile. Food came with a hair on it and the rest looked like a dogs dinner. Avoid like the plague. View menu

The food and pastries at this restaurant are incredible, and I would argue that they serve the best coffee in town. It's the only place in Crieff where I enjoy my coffee without sugar. Laura and Martin are extremely friendly and welcoming, making you feel like you're visiting family.

Very dog friendly. Parking can be tricky and hardly cheap. Pleasant decor. Not very large. The menu has the range of dishes you would expect and plenty of home baking is on display. Prices were fine and the portion size decent. Staff were very chatty and attentive. The toilets and the area next to them needs a complete renovation!

This morning we went to this restaurant for breakfast with our son. Even though it was busy, Martin quickly greeted us and seated us as soon as possible. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. We also bought some cakes to-go, and they were delicious. We will definitely be visiting this place whenever we are in Crieff. Highly recommend it. View menu

I went to this cafe for lunch today. It's a charming little place with unique decor that I really enjoyed. The staff, who I think are the owners, were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and I also picked up a piece of cake to go, which was equally tasty. They even welcomed my dog and gave him a treat. It's clear that this cafe is a favorite among locals, as it seemed like almost everyone who came in was a regular.

Picked this place based on good reviews and could not have been more disappointed. Cold reception from the minute we walked in the door, almost as if us being there was an inconvenience. Once seated we then waited for an extended period of time to even be acknowledged again for food and drinks order. The owner was rude and borderline dismissive while taking our order, after another wait the food arrived and my daughters pancake was laced with blonde hair, one of the poached eggs was like a rubber bullet and the smoked salmon looked past its best. The other owner reared her head from the kitchen only to match the rudeness we had already experienced. Super disappointing end to a family weekend...

"We visited to see the Beatrix Potter Exhibition with family who were visiting and spent a lovely hour going around the exhibition, however our nice time was rudely interrupted by the elderly lady working in the cafe with dyed black curly hair. We have one child with serious allergies, so instead of one child feeling left out and risking cross exposure, we packed safe snacks for all the kids going anywhere with allergies is an absolute nightmare, so we always do this. Most places are trained and appreciative of how hard it is to eat out with allergens and happy to make reasonable adjustments for this. All four adults ate from the cafe. When part of our order was delivered, we were told “this isn’t a picnic area, you can’t eat your own food, you wouldn’t take food in to McDonald’s” (whilst looking at the 2 year old eating her snacks) when I responded yes I actually would, we have a child with allergies, she asked if it was serious allergies to which I said yes and she scoffed and left, no apology, nothing. I must add that whether the children would be eating or not, they would still have to sit at the table and take up the same amount of space. Would the children also be prevented from sitting because they didn’t buy from the cafe? Still waiting on my food order twenty minutes later and having already finished my coffee and frustrated at the wait, I asked for a refund as we now felt hurried to leave because of how upset she was at the children eating snacks at the table without purchasing them in their cafe. I got the refund for my missing meal and we left without going to the shop or seeing the other art, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. We spent just shy of £100 in the place and to be spoken to like that was horrible. The elderly employee with dyed black hair really needs some training on customer service and manners. The way she looked at us as we left was awful, we will not be returning. This place is not welcoming of children or those with allergies I dread to think how they would react to someone who is tube fed, probably told to eat outside just avoid."
