"Everyone who ordered the steak at this restaurant had a wonderful culinary experience. The steaks were perfectly cooked, beautiful, and plentiful in size. Plus, the prices were very reasonable. My friends also enjoyed delicious desserts such as Eaton Mess and rhubarb crumble. Thanks to Malcolm and his team, we had a wonderful evening."

What a wonderful evening. Such lovely friendly and efficient staff. But most importantly the food was delicious our particular highlight was the cod loin with tempura pork belly curried mussels, perfect for an autumnal evening.

after a trip to the coast he called a quick drink on his way home. very friendly staff and a nice selection of Cask-Ales. Currently not with food, but we were told that the food is served again at the beginning of the february 2022. we will then ask for a meal.

brilliant decor (I don't like old pubs modernized, but they did this very well! matt made us very welcome and also welcomed teddy with a tasty bite and a bowl of water. we had smoked Schellfisch kitchens and braided beef cake! presented both delicious and error-free! we're coming back! View menu

We eat here regularly and the foods fantastic, alway beautifully cooked. The pub caters for allergies and dietary requirements with such kindness. The staff are always fab, the food reliable, locally sourced, high quantity and scrumptious. The chefs have a great taste for seasonings too.

We stopped by for a quick drink on our way home after a trip to the coast. The staff were very friendly and they had a good variety of cask ales. Although they weren't serving food at the time, we were informed that they would start serving again at the start of February 2022. We look forward to returning for a meal then.

"We came here for evening meal on route to the North Yorkshire Railway Light Fantastic tour. Car parking was easy with a large carpark although bear in mind our satnav said the pub was up a no through road; in fact the pub was a little further along on the right. There is a wealth of outdoor seating available some of it sheltered should the weather be quite bad. Inside the pub is aesthetically very pleasing on the eye with a decent bar area, pool table off to the left; a large restaurant style seating area is off to the right. The staff were very welcoming showing us straight to our table, taking a drinks order and providing menus. We realised we hadn’t really left enough time to eat and make the railway tour; totally our fault. The wife had a quick word with the staff who put our food on a rush which was amazing of them. Sure enough food was served very quickly and we made the railway tour. The food itself was excellent quality, very tasty and decent portion sizes. The menu was varied and categorised nicely allowing for quick browsing. There were 2 options for vegetarians and a specials board as well. Free Wi-Fi was available with a password displayed at the bar. There is also a comfy sofa seating area just to the right of the bar. The pub is dog friendly which is a big plus for us. Based on this experience I would totally recommend a visit to this pub; I look forward to returning to try some of the other menu options. Food drinks: Great food"

"A group of us went on the Travel Zoo offer which was for the Taster menu. First impressions when we walked into the restaurant was this is an old pub room with a dirty fish tank, a dying fish at the bottom of the tank and mix match of tables. I tried to forget this and let the food do the talking. Ordered off the menu which to be honest I thought was a good idea, as we could try different dishes. The starter came which was ok, then the fish course which included a rubbery Cat fish with a funny taste, this was inedible. The main course then followed with Belly Pork and Chicken which was OK, the Venison which was very sinewy and un-edible. The Assiette of Deserts was not great, I even think they forgot to put sugar in the crumble, but the moose was very nice. The staff were not great, they just served you and were very slow at getting drinks, no excuse when we were the only people in the restaurant on a Friday night. I don’t understand the amazing comments from others, as we did not receive anything like their experience. Personally I think an empty restaurant on a Friday night shows the real picture. I have owned restaurants and hotels before, I suggest that they keep to the simple food like steaks and other bar food, as the taster menu was a good idea, but the food was not up scratch, the venue was poor and the staff were not great.Having looked at the website I see there are no images of the restaurant, I now understand why. The images of the food had no resemblance to the food or presentation we experienced and would say it’s misleading. I don’t like making these type of reviews as its people lively hoods, but I would strongly recommend that the owners improve things quickly or unfortunately they will become another pub casualty."
