"We have breakfast here most Sundays and have done so for over a year now, having tried pretty much everywhere else for breakfast near here and not found anything else that works for us. The breakfast is a self service buffet which we really like because we can have whatever we like without leaving any waste. The food is always fresh and we love the coffee. There is plenty enough selection and the all you can eat and unlimited coffee is excellent value. What’s more they open at 9am where most other places don’t start serving until 10am. We can be in and out in 30 mins which is handy if you are wanting to get on with your day or we can be more leisurely and chat and have far too much coffee! This is not a fancy breakfast, but it’s definitely the best value in the area and the staff work really hard to keep everything running and their customers happy. We have taken a few of our friends here and they have all been satisfied. Thanks to Rob the Manager and the rest of the team for all their hard work, we really appreciate it."

The carvery was good, generous portions of meat and lots of trimmings available. Chocolate brownie was delicious and a decent sized portion. Would have been 5 stars but they wouldn’t let my 17 year old niece have a mocktail which is ridiculous as they don’t contain a drop of alcohol….. View menu

A carvery is all about the potatoes, and the potatoes here are the best I’ve ever had at a carvery or any other restaurant. There are plenty of crispy, crunchy ones that are as fluffy as clouds in the middle. If they’re not to your liking there are others, just leave them ones for me. Staff are friendly and welcoming, highly recommended.

This has been getting progressively worse each time we have gone. Items not available on the menu, food orders delivered late (family received theirs bar one then comes 10 minutes later). Tables dirty with previous customers food still under table, toilets smell. Staff not dealing with customers who's kids are disruptive and throwing food. No longer going back there.

Sadly this was overall a disappointing lunch visit using a voucher I had been given as a Birthday gift. The quality of food served on cold plates was poor, the chips were like cotton wool the burger was overcooked. Not difficult to have got this sort of basic meal right. Both choices of white wine were not available in the wine fridges behind the bar so had to be brought up from the cellar store. No proper wine cooler for the table available either so the bottle was put in a small jug with a few lumps of ice not good enough so we asked for a glass of ice had to put chucks directly into our wine glasses. Very disappointed with everything. Have been here many times before but will think seriously about returning. When Stonehouse took over the pub a while ago they kept the same price from Monday to Sunday at 7.99 for the carvery. However, prices have now shot up to 11.99 on a Sunday. When we visited last Sunday not only did we discover that the prices had shot up (since June 2023) but there wasn't any choice of meat to speak of. As for the vegetables, these were very few and not at all like the choice previously. All in all a very disappointing experience. As for the staff (especially one) it was all a chore for them to be pleasant. A great shame...................

We have been going here for many years for carvery and only had to complain once about 3 years ago .always found value for money and good choice in Carvery.Wehave not been for about 12 months because we have a new dog who does not like to be left alone.Today we discovered that dogs are allowed in a dedicated area.We would have been there sooner if known. We have booked for 3 weeks time .Perhaps it should be advertised dog friendly as a lot of owners like to take dogs with them there are not enough of these places.I also liked the idea of registering your car as have been previously and could not get on car park due to some people not even going to pub .It was a pain to disabled people like my...

"The last time I visited this restaurant was 6 years ago, it WAS a real hidden gem. When I walked in this evening nothing had changed and I was hoping the food would be just as good as I remembered. Service was slow which surprised us as it was a Sunday night and pretty empty. We were given some olives while we ordered (the nicest part of the meal unfortunately). My boyfriend ordered the garlic focaccia with caramelised onion; the bits that had cheese and onion on were very tasty but this was only about 30% of the focaccia, the rest of the bread was over cooked and bland. I ordered bruschetta which was completely underwhelming. 4 small pre sliced bits of stale bread, some chopped up soft tomato and pesto with rocket in the centre. I could have made this at home. For mains I ordered what I always used to have, linguine alla marinara. The portion of pasta was decent, however I only counted 6 pieces of seafood and one large prawn on the top. The menu states it also comes with tomato’s which there were none of. The flavour tasted like buttery pasta with a hint of garlic, again completely underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti meatballs. A large portion but completely inedible as it was absolutely disgusting. The sauce tasted like pure tomato purée, so lumpy and stodgy and the meatballs were like nothing we had ever tasted, VILE. We decided to bring the rest of the portion home for my mum (a head chef) to try. We wanted to know what she thought the flavour was as we were confused as to how you can make a meatball taste so vulgar! She spat it out immediately saying it tasted like it had either been cooked in or made with rancid/old fat. The cherry on the top for us was when we asked for the bill. We were given the generic boiled sweets that come with it. 2 of the boiled sweets were in wrappers however there was a third that stuck them all together that was half chewed, out of it’s wrapper. The place was COVERED in cobwebs, decor completely outdated with many flashing lights, menu pages stuck together and stank, looked like they had many a drink spilt over them and not once changed. Don’t even get me started on the toilets! We cleaned our own cutlery it was so filthy and swapped side plates with an empty table next to us as ours had food still on them. Left feeling completely disappointed and are both now suffering with major trumps. Will not be returning again!"

"We had a voucher for a sparkling tea. Reassured by their website that pronounced their covid measurs were above government guidelines I allayed my 93 year olds Mums fear about going. We were able to sit outside which was of much covid reassurance to Mum...And all was well in this wonderful place which Mum pronounced to be 'the real macoy '...they even catered very impressively for my vegan diet...all was well until we paid in the reception lounge. Mum had thought we would not need to hand over our gift card as they had already got our details when we booked on the phone, but not so...she wore her mask, I was lulled into a false sense of security and destracted that Mums very poor hearing meant she had not heard and was about to walk out the door in her unstable on her feet way, as I handed the voucher over minus my mask to the unmasked young man. Mum observed no one in the lounge was wearing a mask, and the young man got very close to me. I do think this is indefensible. Today the government has changed their rules so today they would all have to be wearing their masks, but surely it 's good sense. On reflection I noted our two waitresses were walking pretty close to ' each other too. Most of the clientele seemed to be over 60...surely they have a duty of care. When i check trip advisor for much humbler eating places, alot have staff wearing masks before the government told them they must...WHY NOT HERE!? I did phone them today..I was told staff do get a temperature screen every day ...but that is only an indication. I was impressed they had hands free alcohol gel dispensers, they took our details, wiped our tables and others every hour and after someone has dined. Its a wonderful place which has let itself down."
