"We ordered Roast Turkey for lunch. I thought 'how lovely '...they have added Gammon meat also...until my friends commented there was no gammon and this was raw Turkey!! I 'm not sure the waiter realised how serious this was...and we never saw the chef to explain. We did however receive refunds x 2 for the Turkey but that is not the point! I don 't cook much but even I could do Turkey and I pretty much know that it is white when cooked...not red!! It was really hard to cut because it was raw, despite me having eaten some and not realising until my friends mentioned! The service was not great despite the place not being full and I would definitely not go there again. Sorry Crown Inn...really bad service and food hence the 1 star which is generous)"

Although very friendly staff. A very long wait for food. Arrived, some food over cooked. My curry had a long hair in, which I almost swallowed!. On telling waitress, who was very apologetic, nothing was resolved! Was not a nice experience!!

Fantastic experience. We had the calamari, nachos, trio of butchers sausages and the homemade burger we were so impressed! Amazing value for money, lovely menu and selection of drinks, and the service (thank you Mia! was so friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

Sating at Sandyball and wanted to pop into town to catch some of the boxing day football. After much confusion about changing the games to the game we wanted, we settled down with some nice cold beer and enjoyed the atmosphere. Gutted it was closing early as we would have been happy to stay and catch another game.

Slipped in for a pint after a dog walk. Football was on about six screens in the pub that's fine. Beer was just what was required. KIds playing pool in main body of the pub were a bit sweary, but I can cope with that (as long as they're not swearing at me). Fitted the bill just fine for a short, sharp eye brightener. Thanks

Honestly will not be returning, was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a local pub. The pints were poured terribly I also saw roughly 3 rats run straight from next to the kitchen then down the side of the building, the staff there are not inviting at all didn’t make me feel welcome at all. I definitely do NOT recommend, go to the ship next door it’s much nicer

Fantastic Sunday lunch for £12 each. Food was very tasty with a great selection of veg, including roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips, green beans and tender stem broccoli, and cauliflower cheese. Massive Yorkshire too! Amber was behind the busy bar working so hard, an extremely friendly and professional member of staff, a real credit to the pub. Will definitely return next time we visit the New Forest.

Recieved a free lesson in how not to customer service.... No welcome No acknowledgement of our existence whilst we were waiting at the bar No notification of a prolonged wait due to a barrel needing to be changed for the previous customer No niceties No respect for the 'first come first served ' system employed countrywide by pubs (to the best of my knowledge) seems if you 're a local, you will get served first (big respect to the customer involved here, they deferred their advantage, thanks) No chance I 'm ever going here again No way I 'll get that hour spent here back Would suggest you go to The Ship, they seem to actually like customers coming in.

Stopped off for a bite to eat and the woman behind the bar was very friendly and took orders for two ciabatta sandwiches. There was another couple there but apart from that no one. Took half an hour to bring out a roast beef ciabatta and was told that the other was just coming. This was another 10 minutes and was just a cheese and ham sandwich. The hard cooking cheese that was grated and falling out. The bread seemed to be a standard CO OP loaf. When I pointed out this wasn’t what I ordered the person just stared at the menu board for answers. Then said they would sort out a refund. No sorry. No can I change that, although I don’t have time to wait again. Won’t be going back here.

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
