"Went for Sunday lunch with my wife and her very elderly Aunty. Lovely quaint old country pub (so obviously, disabled access not great, but staff quick to help). Given a nice table in the conservatory, which was fine until a large family with two babies took the table next door, then we couldn't make Aunty hear anything we shouted at her....the landlady was very understanding and (even though they were very busy) found us a quieter table inside. Sunday roasts were very nice, I had the mixed roast dinner, roast beef was best, next chicken, next pork, last lamb (a bit chewy). Roast potatoes and veg excellent. Portions of mint sauce were pretty meagre, no cranberry sauce for the chicken, you have to pay extra for more gravy. Pudding were good, massive piece of sticky toffee pudding. Service very good, didn't get rushed to finish. Would come again."

Great pub great location and food and staff to match. Would highly recommend a visit here. The children’s roast was just enough after a weekend away!

We popped in for a quick drink on route to Glamping. Stunningly beautiful pub inside and out, with real character! Beautiful garden. Great service! Would like to go back for food another time!

We asked in the pub at VERY short notice if we could be accommodated to have a small wake in the pub. Although it was only 2 days away the landlady was happy to help us. She laid on a lovely buffet for us at...

Lovely historic pub with old stone walls and oak beams. Visited twice, once for a drink and then a few days later returned for a meal. The first time we sat in the large garden enjoying the sunshine but on our second visit for a...

Heard nothing but good things so I thought I’d try it. I was massively disappointed. I opted for the mixed roast at £25. What I got was not up to scratch. A slice each of 3 meats. 3 roast potatoes, some boiled/steamed green veg, stuffing...

Friendly atmosphere to begin with. After stating exactly how we wanted our steaks cooked .. they came to the table where mine was ‘rare’ to say the least! Specifically stating to have it ‘cremated’. It was taken away to be re-cooked and by the time...

"Firstly I would like to say that this restaurant has just been refurbished, and it didn’t feel like an Italian restaurant, more like a cafe at the beach somewhere! It felt very sparse and most Italian restaurants I e been to have proper tablecloths on the table but these were plastic and I noticed one table it was tapped up underneath, in my opinion it needs to be made more warmly and have more of a family feel. The food was really nice, although I would advise anyone to make sure they double check their order as I chose chicken in a sauce really nice which came with vegetables but I also asked for a separate portion of potatoes, when it arrived I just had chicken with a few cut up potatoes and a very very small garnish of salad ! I mentioned this to the waitress who had taken our order and she said I know but the chef had given you extra salad !! Sorry but salad is not vegetables , it clearly said on the menu it came with vegetables. Having said about the above issue, the meals we all had were nice and the staff gave us a very warm welcome and because of the blip they said we could have a free pudding…..not sure if we all did or it was just mine but I never see the bill as we were treated to this. To finish the evening off we were given a lovely limoncello shot. We would definitely go back. Thankyou for a lovely evening in your restaurant"

"Popped in for a late lunch with my wife and sat in the garden in the sunshine. Friendly bar staff. Both had the mussels starters which were ok and the bread was nice. My wife had the surf and turf main, priced at £40, which...surely would deliver at that price. Sadly not. The lobster was ok but the steak, cooked rare as requested, was grey, under seasoned and tasteless. She didn't finish it and didn't even bother asking for a doggy bag. She felt it was the worst steak she had ever eaten. I went for the chicken fajitas which arrived sizzling on a platter. The chicken was dry, massively under seasoned and the red peppers and onions weren't cooked properly. The salad I didn't even touch as it was so painfully boring to look at. My three tortillas were like cardboard and I ate just half of one and then gave up. Chips were only randomly cooked through so we both left most of those also. We gave feedback to the waitress when she cleared the table and went to pay. Whilst paying at the bar the licensee went behind the bar without acknowledging us in the slightest and told the lady taking our payment to take the fajitas off the bill. No apology; not even the time of day was paid to us. He even said to her tell them the fajitas have been taken off the bill'...why on earth he couldn't tell us directly is beyond me! It was rude beyond belief. We paid and left. Over the years we have been to many carvers, seafood evenings and meals out with family and friends at The Black Horse. I will never step through the door again and waste my money. I will do my utmost to make sure that anyone who asks why will learn the truth. What a dreadful experience!"
