"Visiting relations in the county and forced out on a cold and miserable night. Thank goodness I was persuaded as would have been very miffed to have missed this place. For Mr Fussy (Me) I could not find fault and to be confronted with three...of my favourite pub welcomes I could not have been happier. Logs burning in the grate, good local hand pulled ales and smiling ladies behind the bar. Wonderful. Oh yes, the food...spot on for Mr (ultra) Fussy. Always like to see a specials board and a choice of a few rather than reams. Great NOT to see the inveitable so called Hunters chicken on the menu. Always sounds like a pre made bought in dish to me? A true free house, well done all."

Great standard of food. Would recommend the prawn risotto. Friendly and efficient staff. Previously visited last year and remembered to do so again as we were in the area.

Great food, great service and was impressed with their social distancing policy. They had a tracing procedure in place and hand sanitizer available throughout. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely food good variety to choose from. Friendly staff who take their time to make sure everything is right. Lovely atmosphere and plenty space to move from dining area to cosy seats elsewhere.

Went here for lunch. As always service with a smile and always happy to oblige. An excellent pint of real ale and all at reasonable prices. It’s a popular venue at weekends for both lunch and dinner so don’t just turn up and expect a...table without booking 3 or more days in advance.

beautiful colorful plants at the entrance of this pub lies slightly east of northallerton on the bullamoor road in a very pleasant location we had a combination of Sunday dinner and the sizzling vegetables followed by the orange cake and the apple zimt crumb. all meals were very beautifully presented and very tasty highly recommended

meals were delicious. the personal was charming. excellent COVID arrangements. only the problem was that other people stealing from my amazing steak with caramelized wobble and Stilton glaze. but all the main things were beautiful and the desserts were superb of honeycomb cakes and orange cakes. especially well received. all 100% thanks!

"We arrived here for a 2 night stay for a wedding (Fri sat night). PROS: Lynsey the manageress she 100% makes it so fabulous. Lovely, welcoming, looked after us brilliantly. Due to some staff shortages, she was doing what seemed like 10 jobs at once! We ate on one of the nights food was delicious! Great service tasty food. Breakfast was also spot on set us up brilliantly for the day ahead on the Saturday! The Willow room which we stayed in was fab ideal size, lovely cosy too! The whole 2 night stay was extremely reasonably priced the place itself has a great feel about it like a big cosy house! CONS: If you like total darkness, take an eye mask for sleeping as the rooms can get really bright from the early hours. Also, depending on the room, it’s on quite a busy road so can be quite nosy it would be worth having earplugs if you like a quiet surrounding. Due to staffing, the bar doesn’t stay open that late, so be mindful of this, they will however put drinks in your room if you can’t make it back in time for the bar closing. Taxis there are no local taxis, so arranging transport to the wedding we were attending was a nightmare which we didn’t account for! Luckily after 6 different phone calls, we managed to get sorted. The only gripe I had was the confusion over the bill if you decide to charge things to your room, the bills aren’t itemised so it’s difficult to keep track of what has been charged. There was some confusion on checkout over what we should shouldn’t have been charged for, so definitely choose to pay for any extras outright to avoid any confusion or uncertainty before check out. Other than that, it was one of the nicest, most personal stays we’ve had out in a long long time. This was mainly down to the Manageress Lynsey who is fabulous at her job really does make it feel like home makes you feel super welcomed relaxed. Thank you lynsey for really making a stay a one to remember."
