"Called in here one lunchtime when I found my usual Bloxham pub of choice, the Elephant Castle, absolutely chock-a-block. A pleasant enough venue, it has been tastefully refurbished but, for me, it lacks the character and the buzz of a traditional pub that you...get in the affore mentioned Elephant'. The food is grade about that at the Elephant' and priced accordingly, although it is still reasonable value for what it is. I thoroughly enjoyed the Roasted Belly of Pork which came with mustard mash, some very nice red cabbage, carrots and sugar-snap peas. Curiously there is a Theakstons sign on the pub and also an interesting Theaksons lamp to the rear but none of that Yorkshire brewery's ales on sale. There are four handpumps, not all in use all the time, but ales seem to come exclusively from the Martons stable. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The village stream flows adjacent to the pub."

They serve large Portuguese coffees (Delta) and beers (Super Bock) with amazing service. Additionally, there are some Portuguese products available at the restaurant.

The joiners arims is typical of an Engish country pub, with a good atmosphere, a lovely choice of ales and beers, and good food on offer. The staff seemed friendly, and it was a nice spot to refresh after a long day!

friendly Portuguese pub, with Portuguese and British beer as well as a small selection of Portuguese diners from the kitchen. great place to catch the European football. some people could be put off from the outside, but not judge a book of his cover. View menu

As regular diners over many years we see the standard of cooking rise and fall a little as staff change. Currently the newish team is really on the ball. The Sunday lunch was excellent in every ingredient and was a lovely fair priced meal. The...staff, as always, were lovely.

I visited for an early evening dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety on offer. I ordered their Steak Ale pie which was absolutely delicious and definitely a hearty meal to fulfil my hungry appetite. The waitress Dawn was delightful and upon...clearing my empty plate offered me a choice of deserts, highly recommending the Eton Mess Sundae which was equally as delicious. I’m home for a nap know and will most definitely be returning. Stars.

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
