"Stayed here for a few days.. The manager is very friendly and so are the staff.. Regards to the facilities and what you would expect from a hotel, not the best. When I booked it said cooked breakfast was included in the price but when we arrived the manager said it was just a continental breakfast which was just standard.. So we decided to go to Jennys cafe across the road which was lovely.. We returned back from a evening out and found water leaking from the ceiling luckily the water had just missed going into my shopping bags from Bicester which I would of been furious about.. The manager did move us straight away to the room upstairs but said that we wouldn't be able to have a shower as there was no hot water in there and the plumber would be coming to fix it the next day (but I think this was a lie as there was hot water) .. This meant that we had to go back down too our original room and shower in the morning which stank of damp because of the leak the previous night.. We hoped that we would be able to stay in the upstairs room but Manager said we could only stay in there for that one night and had to return back to our old room... They don't provide Toiletries which is unheard of in a Hotel as this should come a standard.. We had to ask the cleaner to change our sheets as we wanted clean ones because we were there for 3nights, the cleaner did change them but was a bit reluctant due to Covid19... The rooms are nice, spacious, traditional decor and the bed was comfortable.. Local to everything so a good location but definitely won't be staying here again"

Called in out of the rain and had the offer of 3.50pounds for a cake and a coffee. Nice place inside.

Nice relaxing pub with beer garden to the rear which is comfortable. Attractive old building modernised inside. Hotel and restaurant

Had the best beef Sunday roast here today. Food was delicious, service was amazing, friendly atmosphere and super easy to park at the back. Definitely recommend to come here for a great Sunday lunch! Everyone is super friendly.

Sunday lunch was awful, undercooked green beans, carrots, cauliflower cheese. Turkey so tough I could've resoled my shoes with it. Everything arrived cold including the gravy. One waitress running round like a headless chicken. Expensive and inedible. Sad View menu

Take no notice of the advertised menu. The hotel has been taken over and there is no fine dining only burgers or a steak with chips. Went there hoping to have a great meal like we had before it was taken over. Decided not to partake of menu and went elsewhere. Will not go there again.

Had a lovely meal on Sunday 1st March, visiting my son over the w/e, we all had the lamb shank and was lovely, the meat was cooked to perfection and had roast potatoes and a large serving of vegetables, cauliflower cheese, sliced carrots and cabbage and gravy, service was good too, was asked if meal was ok. Would recommend this hotel.

Michaela, House Manager is a grand lady, a star. Sorted us out, helped out, guided us to the benefits of visiting Bicester. Staff were great but she was exceptional. Lovely old hotel, we had Room1, apart from a hiccup with the shower it was excellent in the way of room size, cupboards for clothes, and, two large windows inviting in the light. View menu

Driving into the car park set the scene for the rest of our stay. Uncared for, poorly maintained, dirty. The rest of the hotel is the same. We were in room 2. The bathroom window would not close so a shower was out of the question even if there was hot water. The room desperately needs redecorating and painting. The bed was very comfortable and clean the only positive from our stay.

Great place to stay the manager Yvonne is lovely and friendly and very welcoming, as were the other staff, we stayed in one of the rooms for the night comfy bed had a lovely sleep as the bed was a king size so plenty of room and a big bathroom, only down side was room was too hot and the windows only open a little but then I quest that’s a safety reason, would definitely stay again but would book a lower floor as we were on the second floor and too many steps for me, breakfast was toast and cereal, but there were yogurts and fruit too as well as tea and coffee and you help yourself and there was plenty.

"Sadly not quite up to expectations. We were seated promptly on arrival and our order was taken quickly. The food that was served was of a good standard. However there were a few things throughout the meal that let the side down slightly. I ordered the bread and houmous for starter, when it arrived there was no houmous. When I questioned this I was told they didn't have any left, the waitress asked what I would like instead not a question I can answer with out being given a list of options! When we asked her to find out she came back from the kitchen saying there was no alternative, would I like some butter. Had I known all of this before ordering I would have chosen something other than bread and butter. Another member of our party who arrived after the initial group ordered a lime and soda to drink but was served what tasted like a lemonade instead, when this was questioned she was told it was the lime and soda she asked for, yet it tasted very different to the lime and soda ordered by another member of the group... When it came to dessert, it was asked if the sticky toffee pudding came with ice cream as it wasn't mentioned on the menu, we were told it did. However when the desserts arrived there was no ice cream, when we queried this we were each given a small ramekin containing one scoop of chocolate ice cream, a little bit of an odd combination with sticky toffee pudding and a shame not to have had it all on the same plate. Finally, as much as we love dogs, having them constantly run under the table around our feet wasn't ideal for a sunday lunch time. It's a shame the service and attention to detail wasn't quite up to scratch as the majority of the food could not be faulted at all and they catered well for the various dietary requirements of the group."

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
