"My favorite sushi place in Cologne! The most authentic you will find around here. After coming back from Japan, this place makes me feel like I never left. Been to many sushi restaurants in Cologne but I’m not a fan of westernized sushi (too much rice, cream cheese??? so if you like authentic sushi, Kintaro is your spot! The prices are definitely on par with the quality so just with all things in life, you get what you pay for! Be sure to make a reservation because it’s usually pretty full. I have been going here for two years now and I can safely say I still look forward to my weekly visit to Kintaro. The owners are amazing people and do an amazing job at keeping this place going! tip: If you like raw fish be sure to try the Kimchi!"

I started going there in the 80ies. The sushi was fresh and reasonably priced. I love it. The staff is very friendly. The location isn't great. It is a little hidden.

Paid 20€ for 10 maki and 2 nigiri, 1 bag of soy and now wasabi. Sushi was average. I felt cheated. Usually for 20€ I can order 18-20 pieces. The owner told me that 5 pieces were uramaki and then brought me only small maki. Very, very disappointed.

Kintaro is not in a main street, it may not be the coolest Japanese restaurant but when we arrived without a booking, it was full, although we finally got a table for 5. If it was full on a Monday night, that means something. Food is very good, large variety of Japanese dishes, good service (a bit slow as they were completely full) and priced reasonably for Cologne. If you are nearby, it will not disappoint you.

Kintaro is a great restaurant. It has fantastic sushi and great service. Owned by a Japanese & German husband and wife, the food has always been great there even after 10 years. The chef is a Japanese guy, and that's why you get to have authentic Japanese food at this place. The quality of sushi and sashimi is absolutely fantastic. It's a bit expensive, but if you're going to have raw fish, you'd better choose a good place to eat!

Every year I exhibit in ISM Fair in Cologne Germany. I arrive on a Friday, set up on Saturday and start to Exhibit on Sunday. My first night in Cologne I am always go to my most favorite Japanese Restaurant Kİntaro. The fish, the meat, the vegetable tempura, the miso soup, sushi, sashimi, eal on rice are all so delicious. I eat a bit of all these in one go, starting with Japanese beer an continuing with Sauvignon Blanc. It is a family owned restaurant with Japanese husband chef, German wife as the manager of the restaurant and sometimes their daughter as an assistant. Great hard working people and great food. If you like Japanese food then this is your best choice in town. I can't wait to go...
