"With stylish presentation, delicately flavours and silky sauces, Kouchin's menu includes poplar curry house favourites, but its their ‘Connoisseurs Choice’ of unique dishes which catch the eye. Kouchin's ‘Dom Phukt’ cooking tradition dates back to the days of they Moghuls but with addition of modern panache. I'd recommend Grilled Seabass Fillet with roasted pickling spices £12.95; Tawa Duck Breast marinated in garlic, ginger, mustard, coriander honey then grilled on a tawa. Served with stir fried rice, noodles a medium spiced sauce for £11.95, in soft cheese saffron with a crunchy crisped skin, but succulent pink flesh £12.95; or the Lobster In Goan Masala of coconut, star aniseed for £25.95."

Not lovers of spicy food and a vegetarian, we were really thrilled with the food here. We tried dishes we didn't eat before we cleared our plates! The staff was attentive and pleasant and it was excellent value money. Will definitely go back.

On Wednesday night visited and it was very quiet. They have special offers on Tuesday, which apparently attract more people. Food was nice, but not remarkable, would have done with a little more heat. We shared chicken tikka and onion bhaji to begin, not to the main thing, but peshwari naan was beautiful.

Kouchin has no airs and graces, simple decor and is not in the centre of the flesh pots of Europe but boy is it good ! The food was superb, the interaction with the owner/manager really made it for us. Great recommendations of what goes with what and also what not to have meant that the final blend was just what we wanted. Well done Kouchin

Kouchin is a small friendly restrauant off the main high street in Ashford. It is one of at least five in the town but it consistently serves good quality food placing it above many of the others. The staff are friendly and welcoming and very attentive. The menu is very comprehensive including the old favourites, plus specialities such as chicken cooked with whiskey. Unlike many restaurants it does not skimp on the quantity of meat especially in dishes using relatively expensive meat such as duck

The food and service was great. The staff very attentive and all the customers received a complementary drink on the house and red rose for all the ladies. There was a mistake on our bill which I pointed out to the waiter. The manager apologised and took £7 off as a guesture of good will. The meal and service was so good though that we insisted on paying the bill as it should have been and left our ususal 10% tip. This was our first visit to the restaurant but many of the diners appeared to be regulars. We will certainly be going back in the very near future.
