"My son and I went for an evening bike ride in search of ice cream for his birthday dessert. It was already 9:45pm, and it was by chance that we wandered into La Caleche and was very warmly greeted by its owner and assured that they had dozens of choices of ice cream for us to enjoy! We had a lovely evening there and he even made sure that they lit a candle and put it in his ice cream and very happily sang him a solo Bon Anniversaire that we will never forget! The inside of the restaurant is incredibly old. It was originally the old stables and horseshoe repair barn for the countryside shop owners in the 17th century, when the area was pasture. They still have the original beams and stone fireplace inside. It was a little on the pricey side for two scoops of ice cream- $13 per person! Thats the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. But the couples eating outside clearly enjoyed their food and their menu looked good. Bon Appetit!"

If you want an authentic, good place for French food this is definitely the place to go. One of Parisians most loved insider tips.

Stumbled across this place as a happy accident after a lovely early evening wander around the 6th arrondissement of Paris...Straightforward menu to choose from - very delicious and fresh food! Perfect way to soak up some real Parisian atmosphere on a small quiet side street in a place oozing with charm - thanks for the warm welcome!

Food very tasty. 3 course meal for around 27€. Not too badly priced keeping in mind its near the tourist attractions. Convenient and close by to the Louvre. Restaurant was in a quiet road away from the chaos of the Museum. Menus not in english but its was not a problem as the Host/ owner was very friendly and very helpful and spoke english! First time visit to Paris, all the way from South Africa.

We went to la Caleche as a family and we all love it. Affordable place for real food. The roasted chicken was tasty, a real chicken, not from intensive farming, the french fried were real too! not from a plastic frozen bag.The beef was tender and tasty. We can't comment on the dessert because we were so full, no more place! the owner was very kind and attentive to our needs. For sure we will come back.

We came across this restaurant for lunch last week while staying at a hotel in an adjacent street. Having done so, we returned for dinner the two following nights. The hospitable owner was very pleasant and happy to deal with two tourists who wished to practise their schoolchild French. The food and wine, while not inexpensive, were excellent as was the ambience. Definitely to be recommended. We will be back.

Wife and I happened across this bistro between The Louvre and Norte Dame. It was one the best meals we had while in Paris. The owner went out of his way to describe the 3 course lunch and wine pairing which was in a word excellent. A salad followed by sautéed sole served with a sauce, vegetables and dessert. This small restaurant serves amazingly good food for a reasonable price. Next time we are in town we will go there again.

We just happened on this tiny (6 tables) restaurant and how fortunate we were! The menu is simple but with wonderful choices. I had Salmon tartare and my friend a beef in Brown sauce. our starter was a dish with mushrooms sauteed to perfection. Desert choices included a chocolate mousse and tiramisu. The meal was generous, perfectly prepared and of moderate cost in a charming atmosphere with a host (owner?) Who treated us like friends and was exceptionally welcoming. I can't recommend highly enough!

My last night in Paris (March 18, 2016) was spent having a wonderful dinner at this bistro located down the block from my hotel (Hotel d'Orsay). The owner was so gracious and kind, explaining the beautiful menu and making excellent recommendations. The food was amazing, the restaurant itself charming and cozy, and the wine list and recommendation was truly delightful. I was able to sit and enjoy my food/drink and was treated to an after-dinner drink by the owner. An overall wonderful experience not to be missed.

We stumbled upon this tiny gem on our walk home from a day of touring the city. Philip could not have welcomed us more warmly as we settled in with spirits before our meal. Other diners included local couples and a family with a young child and her grandfather and two very comfortable dogs. The owner welcomed all with the same graciousness shown to us. My daughter enjoyed her fish soup and steak tartare as I devoured my escargot making sure the sauce was absorbed in the wonderful crusty bread. My sole meunière was delightful and served whole just as I enjoy it. Philip ensured we were attended to and offered suggestions for tomorrow's touring to several out of the way places and another resta...
