"After spending the early part of the day wandering all over Paris by foot, a welcoming outdoor café in a great location was just what we needed! The location was ideal as other reviewers have noted...so close to the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay. We had a friendly, helpful waitress who took our order but then never made us feel rushed the entire time we sat there enjoying our lunch and drinks. I had a delicious assortment of tapas which could have easily been shared...while my husband picked a little here and there, I confess to eating most of it myself and enjoyed every morsel. Cheeses, bread, pates, meats, a little bit of everything made for a very tasty plate. Our table happened to be outside but at the corner so yes, quite a bit of traffic and foot traffic going by but it wasn't noisy and made for a great people watching opportunity. We were there for the Sunday ride in of the Tour de France so after watching the cyclists ride in, we once again returned to La Fregate this time just for a quick sparking water, a beer and visit to the rest rooms! I wish we could have enjoyed more of the menu items and got a real taste of their French cuisine but I know despite the fact that there are cafes on every corner, this is one place I will definitely return to if we make it back to Paris!"

The service is great, the princess too, but the food is so medium. Not bad but it's medium for Paris!!

Very nice bistro. Friendly service. Good menu at good prices. Their "boards" e.g. Pate are a meal in itself. Good for people watching too. Open late.

What a beautiful café! As my family trooped along the Seine, La Frégate was a major site for sore eyes as we were in dire need of refreshment. We had a lovely lunch here and would highly recommend a visit. View menu

We had the set lunch menu 17 euro for a main/dessert/drink. It was a lovely fish stew, and tiramisu. The children had the chocolate mousse which was amazing. It was good value and the waiters spoke good English.

We had walked down from the Sacre Coeur and just crossed over the Seine and were in dire need of refreshment and to rest our weary feet.As it was a lovely day we sat outside and though it was very noisy with the traffic the food and service and view of the Louvre made up for this. We had the best Croque-monsieur's ever washed down with a really nice glass of wine.

Two friends and I stopped here for dinner on a Saturday night. No reservations needed and generally few tables occupied on the restaurant side, should have been a clue to sit on the bar side and order from that menu. Food was average (French onion soup, mixed salad). If I could do it over again, I would have headed for a better option several blocks south, toward Saint Germain des Pres. View menu

If you are looking for a typical French bistro, just out of a movie depicting Paris at its best, this is a right place to go. On the left bank of Seine, just across from the Louvre, furnished exactly as it was on the turn of the siècle it offers a real taste of French lunch culture. It is also frequented by the locals, which is always a good sign that the food is good. We opted for traditional stuff - French onion soup (excellent choice for a nasty rainy day), tournedos in red wine, REAL French fries and salad. A very solid meal, good service, a bit expensive - however, a view to the Louvre comes with a price. We would definitively go back there once we are back in Paris.

Perhaps the location is too obvious that your wonder if it will be as good as the cafe presents itself...but this is a VERY good cafe brasserie in a prime location...Left Bank with views of the Louvre and the pedestrians and traffic passing by from your outdoor table. Was not expecting much, but was very suprised: the service was excellent and professional, the food really good including fresh produce, the wine perfect (and on my second visit the afternoon glass of champagne!). If you are visiting the area and need a break, read the menu to see if it appeals to you - how can it not with such a variety. Then sit inside or out. Local crowd, too. Both my visits cool November days sat outside un...
