"My wife and I decided to have a Sunday roast at The Angel a couple of weeks ago after spotting a table outside. We’d also been recommended the pub by a well-respected Suffolk foodie on Instagram. At £18.95, it was definitely on the pricey side...for a roast, and unfortunately my roast beef wasn’t hot when it came out. This was swiftly rectified, albeit with a couple of minutes in the oven and another helping of piping hot gravy poured over the top, to the extent it was virtually swimming. Fortunately I like gravy, and this gravy was excellent. The beef was also tender and delicious, and a generous portion which you’d expect for the price. The vegetables were fantastic too, but two roast potatoes felt quite stingy. The Angel is a lovely pub full of character, but I don’t imagine we’ll be visiting for a another roast anytime soon when you can get as good a roast elsewhere for less."

Nicely situated hotel with nearby parking. Friendly check in, and very clean room. Comfortable bed, powerful shower, good linens and towels. Very good for food in the bar and restaurant.

Another amazing beef roast .. never disappointed, great value, excellent service. Ross front of house organises everyone well. Not rushed even as a solo diner on a table for four. Do not hesitate to eat here.

Really nice place with friendly staff. The main course was good but we all agreed the dessert was a disappointment. The Bakewell Tart was under cooked and way too small. Would recommend a visit but I’m not sure if I would order a dessert if...I went again.

Have visited Angel for many years and had good experiences. Unfortunately this wasn’t one of them. Indifferent service overpriced food . Quality good but think they are trying to be exclusive but have ended up overblown and expensive. Place was almost empty so not surprised....If you want a great meal go to the Greyhound in the high street.

Stopped here for lunch on the way back from a long weekend away in Dunwich. Food was amazing, the big open fire was going and warmed us all through! I had the fish and chips which was top notch, FiL had the venison pie, which...he said was excellent, my partner and the MiL both had sandwiches with fries, these were also excellent! The landlord was a nice chap and the staff were really efficient and polite! Just need to loom for a few excuses to keep coming back!

we had two nights here and ate both nights in the restaurant. the food was excellent. fresh, beautifully presented and cheap. the service was also very attentive, but not in her face. daisy, our waitress was a star. the choice. food was also a good amount options meat, fish, vegetarian. the restaurant was part of the bar, but in a separate side of the room, so bare sounds did not penetrate. we had drinks in the bar in front of the hand and the local color was so funny. a great place.

for Sunday dinner at the angels. I had a nice starter of garnel and cancer and my wife chose the baked braut. that followed with the beef and roast the pan meerrot laugh with garnelen and sanphire. both dishes were absolutely excellent. the beef was beautifully cooked with beautiful bratkartoffels and a huge Yorkshire doll. a dish of mixed vegetables was cooked to perfection. we made two great puddings. the meal was washed with a pint of nethergate gold beer and a glass sauvignon white wine, followed by a glass merlot. highly recommended.
