"For modern Indian cuisine in Cardiff, Mint and Mustard has firmly established itself at the top of the bill. I heard so many people raving on about this place before I got around to trying it, as it 's had loads of reviews and media attention. Chef Anand George has had massive success since setting up business in Cardiff in 2007. In 2008 he won both the House of Commons Tiffin Cup and the South Asian Chef of the Year. In 2009, Mint and Mustard became the first Indian restaurant to be named 'Best Indian Restaurant ' and 'Best Restaurant in South Wales ' at the South Wales Echo Food and Drink Awards. With expectations high, the place could easily have been a disappointment but the food was divine and the service was excellent. I had the veggie Bombay Chat for starters, which is full of interesting flavours, and the delicious Allepy fish curry for main course, which is flavoured with coconut milk, ginger and mango. They also serve up some really interesting desserts, something which most Indian restaurants are hopeless at, so it 's worth leaving some room for something sweet. One choice is an exotic, delicate Rose Petal Crème Brulee, and another is a Tandoori pineapple with saffron and fennel. Mint and Mustard deserves every bit of its fine reputation and now its neighbouring sister restaurant, Chai Street, also offers a cheaper, more informal daytime Indian eatery where you can enjoy authentic breakfasts and lunches."

My first trip here a couple years ago blew me away with the flavors and service, but recently my boyfriend and I took another trip and while the food was still good, it lacked the same amazing quality and taste as the first time. Definitely worth a visit to try them out, may just be our take on it! View menu

I went with a group of friends to this restaurant the other day, thanks to all the lovely reviews on Yelp, and can honestly say that this was one of the most memorable and fantastic meals that I've ever tasted. I really don't quite no what to say to get across the spectacular nature of this place. So I'll just keep the review short and urge you to go along yourself! Go! Now! Delicious and special in so many ways!

This place is amazing! I have to say that its the best curry I've had from any restaurant so far. We had the taster menu and every single item we tasted was superb and cooked to perfection! I was particularly impressed with the scallop starter, the lamb curry and selection of the most tasty naan breads. I highly.recommend this restaurant and will.definitely be eating here again. If.there is one criticism to be made, I would have preferred to end the meal with a little chocolate, rather than the strange aniseed flavoured granules.that came with the bill.

I saw this place mentioned in one of those rubbish magazines First Great Western have on their trains earlier this month. Their review was so good I had to go. Before that I hadn't heard about it at all, despite it having won the best indian of 2009 and the best welsh restaurant of 2009 award. I've never seen so many beautiful sounding fish dishes on a Indian menu and well everything sounded amazing, but since most of it was unfamiliar to me I did ask our waiter about how hot the dishes were ect because I was determined to try something new. The only thing I was disappointed about was finishing my meal. We went in the week and it was busy so I'd recommend booking, and also a couple of tables... View menu

This place is heaven! I think that Mint and Mustard is my favourite Indian restaurant in Cardiff... it's certainly up there in the top three! If it weren't for the fact that there are some other amazing Indian restaurants in Cardiff that employ the same visionary and innovative methods that Mint and Mustard have become known for, then they would be a clear winner! It's stiff competition, but Mint and Mustard are definitely neck and neck for the top slot! What inclines me to choose this restaurant and not the others is that I love the people that work here. They are so genuinely friendly and eager to please, (but not in an obsequious way), that it's really easy to relax and enjoy yourself her...

Go here. Forget the greasy gruel that marks most curry houses this is cuisine, my friend, and a healthier one at that with oil used sparingly, wherever possible. Last year, Restaurant Magazine's National Restaurant Awards named Mint Mustard as one of the UK's top 100 restaurants and was one of just two Indian restaurants on the list. And you can see why. Even as a carnivore, I found the vegetarian tasting menu (my boyfriend is a veggie, which pretty much makes me one, too) to be a hearty alternative to the chicken korais I normally scoop into my pie hole. A word of advice, though if you're like me and hate yoghurt, then avoid the Bombay chaat, a Scotch egg looking delicacy that is filled wit...
