"We were staying in their campsite behind the pub, but we had some drinks both nights of our stay in the pub. Kids play area in the beer garden, loads of parking and space inside the pub. Only issue we found was with the shower block. 3 Blocks all containing 1 shower in and 2 toilets in each. The problem is, people are able to lock the main door, so if you want to use the toilet, and someone has locked that door to have a shower, you are waiting a long time. For us, 20 minutes...3 people all showering for 20 minutes locking the main door, so we cannot use the basins or toilets. They need to remove the locks for the main doors to resolve this. The shower doors have their own locks, so I don't see why it is necessary to lock everyone else out. Happy to stay here again, but will bring the Porta Pottie."

We used the New Broom for my father in laws wake after the funeral. A buffet was laid on which was impressive, proper beef, ham, scotch eggs, quality quiche, fries, breaded chicken everyone commented. Really looked after us as well! Thank you

Highly recommend this place Traveled here after Alton towers and my partner and I were starving! We ordered the turkey, ham and leek pie and curry with a side of onion rings and it filled us right up. Big portions! The staff were all lovely, the music was great indie and not too loud. Will recommend this to everyone who comes to Alton Towers!

Spent three nights camping here with a group of friends using it as a base to explore the Peak District. The camping fields are flat and close to the toilet and showers which were very clean. The pub is very well set out with a good selection of beers and the food offered is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff were all attentive and friendly.

We were a party of 8 and celebrating an event. Most of us had steak and two had chicken. The service was delivered with a smile by a pleasant waitress and the helpings were good. Everything tasted great and we finished up with some kind of Sundae that I had never heard of. Altogether an excellent meal. This landlord is trying hard to please his customers.

Stayed for 0ne night on the adjoining pitchup advertised camping site, firstly I advise you to avoid at all costs, the toilets and showers are without locks on doors, the tap water smells of urine, we ate pizza at the pub that too was disgusting, there were maggots crawling on the floor and I’m sure I saw a rat leave the kitchen by a drain. I,ve heard that they have been visited recently by the local environmental health agency,

We have just camped at new broom for the weekend, the area for camping was within easy access of the pub, toilets and shower which where cleaned daily, the owners where lovely and always checking how it was going and asking if we needed anything very friendly as well as the staff within the pub, New broom is within a reasonable driving distance to alton towers and uttoxeter. We ate tea in the pub and breakfasts and bother meals where delicious. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in our motorhome on their site which was clean and had all the usual services. We were welcomed by the lovely owners and shown where everything was. We had dinner there and the food was excellent. We had the scampi and chips and peas and the chicken madras curry. The sticky toffee pudding and ice cream sundae were also good. The Guiness was excellent too. The staff were attentive and checked that our food was to our liking. The site is also really handy for families wanting to access Alton Towers

We booked hear to be close to Alton towers which is only 5 miles away. First impressions were good and we were on the top field. It was muddy but that’s camping and it did not ruin it for us all. Kids loved the park and loved the football nets. The pub is great. Food is fantastic and at a great price. The beer is so well looked after. Shower and toiled blocks are ok, could always be modified but they are always clean which is good. We have booked to return next year as we really like the place and the team who run it. Thanks for a lovely stay John

Booked a nights stay here via pitch up. Absolutely lovely, John the owner and his partner are super friendly and always making sure you’re OK, facilities are regularly cleaned and maintained to a good standard…. Kids and dogs are made really welcome and the whole environment was lovely and chilled. We had a great evening meal at the pub!! So much choice we had pizzas for the kids , mixed grill and chicken burger all went down a treat. Special mention for the home cooked chips… Next to a busy -ish road and we were offered ear plugs but we live on a similar road so it was actually soothing for us. We decided to stay for carvery too and John was more than happy for us to stay pitched up until w...

"Our room faced the front of the hotel, and while the village was quiet with only two pubs and a small corner store, it seemed to be a shortcut for heavy vehicles speeding downhill at night, with headlights constantly illuminating our room. We also found out that the hotel closes in the evening if it's not busy, and the front door may be locked as early as 10 PM, requiring a code for re-entry. The internet service was poor; even standing just outside the front door, I had no reception and couldn't call the emergency numbers posted there. It appears that the quality of the rooms varies significantly, with some having been upgraded while others are less desirable, including our own. When we questioned our bill because we didn't think the room was worth £140, we were told that since we had booked through Charming Escapes, we should take it up with them, as the hotel receives only a fraction of what we paid. This made us feel like second-class guests, especially since it seemed we were stuck in a low-quality room. The standard rate for a double room is £90, and if I were to rate our experience like on the TV show "Four in a Bed," I would say £50 a night would have been generous. Previous reviews also mentioned an issue with the door handle and the ability to lock the room, which had not been fixed. If you’re just looking for a place to dry off your hiking boots, this hotel might suffice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here again. It has a lot of potential, and thankfully, we had a wonderful evening at The Devonshire Arms just across the street—it felt like a whole different experience. It seems the staff at Charles Cotton have simply given up."
