"We settled at a cozy table, and they took the time to explain the extensive menu in detail, attending to our every need. We started with the Turkish carrots, which were absolutely sublime, followed by a special hake dish and a hearty cannon. Everything was delicious, served with chips, potatoes, and various vegetables—cooked to perfection! For dessert, we had honey ice cream, which was incredibly tasty and a generous portion. Overall, it was a fantastic meal in a beautiful setting, complemented by perfect hosts. We only wish we had more time to try other dishes! I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you for a wonderful evening!"

This charming little pub may be simple, but the food is truly outstanding—everything is homemade, and the portions are very generous. I couldn't find anything to criticize; it's clear that the landlord and landlady take great pride in their establishment. Absolutely fantastic! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

This is a treasure of a place I almost don't want to tell you! Clearly, the landlord(s) are devoted to offering excellent food, beautifully done, great value and service. We were in Barnstaple for sad reasons, but our meal here, on the evening of a sad day was just perfect. Highly recommend. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The New Inn is our top choice for dining in the Barnstaple area. The food is outstanding, expertly prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Justin and Julia are wonderful hosts, ensuring that customers feel both welcomed and thoroughly cared for. The choux bun dessert is a must-try, but be sure to save room for it and plan a nice long walk for the following day! Food rating: 5.

We had a fantastic dining experience from the moment we arrived. Justin greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home. The wine and beer selection was impressive, and he took the time to explain the handwritten menu in detail. Everything is homemade, making it hard to choose from all the delicious options. The dessert menu was just as delightful; my husband loved the sticky toffee apple crumble. I enjoyed a refreshing lemon posset paired with a buttery homemade shortbread biscuit. We only wish we lived closer, as this would definitely be our go-to place for dining. Parking is available at the back of the Inn.

"If you find yourself anywhere remotely near Barnstaple and are looking for a place where you will be welcomed with open arms and fed amazing home cooked food at a great price then step into the cosy interior of The Castle Inn at Landkey where Creighton, Carly, Darren and the team will ensure that you leave with a full tummy and a smile on your face! We had the pleasure of eating Sunday lunch there today and I only wish I’d thought to take a photo of our fabulous plates of food before we devoured every mouthful. Succulent 27 hour cooked roast beef that melted in the mouth (yes, the other reviewers really don’t exaggerate about how fabulous this is! was accompanied by yummy roasties plus one of the biggest Yorkshire puds we’d ever seen all served with a tasty gravy and a lovely bowl of freshly prepared parsnips, carrots, broccoli, red cabbage and peas. Don’t hesitate to visit if you need gluten free, vegetarian or have an allergy nothing was too much trouble and the staff will guide you through what you can have. The delicious vegetarian tart was accompanied by all the trimmings and a separate veggie gravy which was also eaten with relish. All of the above was washed down with a friendly chat with Creighton who personally stopped by to check we were enjoying our meal and to see if there was anything else we needed to enhance our dining experience…there wasn’t but it was great to know that any requests would be welcomed and accommodated immediately. We will definitely visit again next time we are in the area and we only have 2 regrets: firstly, we were too full to have one of the fantastic sounding desserts and secondly, that we only discovered this lovely gem of a place on the last day of our holiday! See you soon and thanks for a lovely experience. Jan and Ian"

"have been for a few clicks and gather them away recently. the prices are still reasonable, but the quality of food, although good, is a bit short of the standard backside when they won national prices. the chips could be more careful with something. between brushed and fryed (removal of eyes and rest shell) and the dough can be understated at a occasion and soggy the side, still a beautiful meal. the real problem that must be addressed is the fact that the customers are still kept outside to order and wait for their food that is in the dry but no fish and chips for me when it rains this is the reason why this is not a 2 star evaluation. We should live with covid now, not run away. Despite this approach, no employees wear ppe, and there are no signs for regular hand cleaning that makes cross-contamination possible. added that the restaurant is not packed with any proof of social need, this is surely just an attempt to see something to do. it is certainly confusing. my advice is to click and collect, as eating is ready for the right time and is always beautiful and hot. if the problems with the problem of streuung and access were not present, this would have got 4 stars if the chips had been up to the old standard, it would have been 5. Finally, the workers are amazing and do a great work in view of the additional and my view after unnecessary additional pressure, they are expected to be under"
