Really smart, modern coffee shop. Lots of tables in a bright environment. The Roost artisan coffee is fresh and well made and the cakes are delicious. Try it if you're in the area.

Passing by and got drawn in by the massive scones. Excellent value with cream and jam at £3.25 for York city centre. Pleasant surroundings and friendly staff so will definitely pop back

Very nice fresh homemade cake , perfect coffee!! Both girls working here were very friendly, polite , keep Coronavirus safety, and fast service. I thought I was in my friends local coffee shop.

A new girl starter served us, was very professional and done well. Drinks where lovely, scone was really big and tasted good, cake very nice. Liked how it looked inside. Would go back for sure when next in York

I always ask if it’s ok just to have a drink, and yes it was. The lovely lady serving was very friendly, other people eating had amazing looking food, I just wish we’d have been hungry Will definitely return on future visits View menu

We visited for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon. The place was very busy but we got a table and we were served quickly. I had a sandwich from the specials board and the other half had a croque Madame which he tells me was delicious. We then had a generous piece of cheesecake each, which in hindsight we should have shared Loved the place so much that we nipped in for coffee a day later before heading home.

The nice looking place across the road was closing so stopped here instead looking for a cake and a drink. We ordered soft drinks which were nice enough, skipped the cake as they were predominantly mass produced-not particularly tasty looking, and there was only one vegan option for the vegan in the group. The cafe is nice enough but in need of some attention, lots of lights out, the table was sticky and the bathroom filthy. Wouldn’t come again.

Tried to eat here twice prior, finally managed on the third try. Had pretty big expectations, but they weren’t lived up to unfortunately. Their pumpkin spiced latte was lovely, however poached eggs on sourdough were cold, overcooked and just lacking in any flavour. Which when equating to a £10, just wasn’t really worth it. The Italian opposite Bottega is better I think for breakfast/lunch, with a really flavoursome poached eggs etc. Nice but wouldn’t return. View menu
