"Firstly I'd like to say this is not a negative review of the food as it's always delicious and today's experience will not put us off but hopefully management will see this and maybe make some changes. We arrived later than normal today 3:20pm. But we only wanted coffee and a piece of cake so knew we'd still be in time as it's open till 5pm. My husband suggested I went and got a table while he waited to collect the coffee's as I am disabled.(visible by my walking stick) I went to an area near the double doors into the plants, a young lady said she was sorry but the area was closed for cleaning. So walked down to the bottom where you can look out at the golf and climbing but all the tables had reserved on them. A young man who worked there walked past so I asked if I could sit there as I'd already been told we couldn't sit at the top end but he said no the area had been cleaned for tomorrow. I did say it's silly as it's not closed yet and 3 lady's were mopping in front of customers still eating and I just needed somewhere we could sit and he suggested an area next to the dog friendly seats which is rather not or outside!!! We went outside and realised we should have complained more as it was cold and very blowy but we didn't feel welcome to sit inside. I work in a deli so I know how manic the last hour is. But we always make sure customers who arrive late receive the same experience, is this something that could be looked at? I'll leave it with you."

Absolutely appalling service. Waited nearly an hr for food. It wasn't even good value for money. Didn't even have an apology either. Rude and awful service.

Went for the afternoon tea. Really enjoyed the food and we were excellently looked after by the staff too. Ended up very full so brought two of the scones home with us

Hadn't been here for a long time and was really impressed, it was very busy but there is an enormous choice of goods over a large area, we ate in the restaurant, good choice and fair prices, the staff were friendly, and helpful, definitely recommend

Hi,was going to visit today with my friend,to have pancakes,as it’s Pancake Day,I presumed the Tamworth Planters would be doing the same loaded pancakes as the Bretby Planters? But no,no pancakes at all being served today,so we had to go to the Bretby Planters instead. Hopefully next year? As I love your garden centre the restaurant.

Have been coming to planters for years now, great to see there’s some gluten free wrapped options in the restaurant. Just what has happened to the prices. £3 for a pot of tea? We usually have 2 lots of drinks while we are here for the day but not any more. We don’t buy any meals here as don’t feel they are priced well. Occasionally we might have a cake. £6 for 2 teabags and some hot water is just too much.

My friend and I shared a cheese sandwich, then had a cake each. The sandwich was only buttered on one side of bread, the quality of cheese used was abysmal, more like grated tasteless plastic, wet salad on plate made bread and crisps slightly soggy. At the price you pay for a cheese sandwich you would think the quality of the cheese would show that. My friends lemon meringue was lovely, my carrot cake was very dry. This restaurant used to be the place to go for very decent food, what has happened ?? On the website it says they source the best ingredients, I don't think that is true anymore View menu

My daughter booked afternoon tea for my birthday, we arrived a little early but we're seated straight away at our reserved table and brought hot drinks immediately. When the stand arrived I was very impressed and quite surprised at the amount of food. The finger sandwiches were lovely especially the chicken breast. The scones were warm and scrummy, and the cakes looked good, we bought them homa as we were well and truly full. The waitress was lovely and attentive and brought us all refills of our tea and coffee. All in all a fantastic afternoon and great value, you will not go hungry or thirsty.

We often come here and always enjoy the experience browsing afterwards in the garden centre. The staff are generally friendly and helpful. Having read a recent comment about staff cleaning an area well before closing time, we have experienced the same thing. It was quite off putting to be so close to us still eating and drinking and was quite some time before the cafe was due to close. A further observation we have is that on each occasion we've visited the cafe recently we have had to ask for clean cups as each one has not been cleaned well enough. On the last visit the milk jug could have done with a clean, too as it looked like it hadn't been washed inside between uses. We were surprised...

"Wow, what an amazing place for gluten-free food! This fish and chip shop is incredible, with exceptional customer service. My friend and I took our children to Drayton Manor last Saturday, and ended up staying later than planned. On our way home, we needed to find something to eat for both the kids and us, but since we are both gluten-free (coeliac), we knew it would be a challenge. I decided to search before leaving the park and found Oceans in Tamworth. It was only 8 minutes away and on the way to Nottingham, so we decided to give it a try. Despite getting a bit lost, we eventually found Oceans in a small shopping area and parked our car. When I asked if they still made gluten-free food, I was surprised by the owner's enthusiastic response. He was incredibly helpful and showed us their wide range of gluten-free options, as they had been making gluten-free food for 18 years. He provided me with a menu that included not only fish and chips, but also other delicious items like gravy, onion rings, lemon pepper fish, etc. He also showed me how they keep all gluten-free ingredients separate and clearly marked in the kitchen. While waiting for our order to be freshly cooked, he even gave us a sample of chips and gravy to try. The food was incredibly delicious, and it was the first time I had enjoyed fish and chips in 10 years! He also treated us to a taste of the delicious lemon pepper cod. As coeliacs, my friend and I also received a free bottle of gluten-free chip vinegar. I ordered a large cod and chips with gravy (which was so good that I wished I had just ordered that instead), and got a child's portion for my son."
