"I am giving this restaurant five stars just for being open for lunch! It's difficult to find places to eat on this island. The food was actually quite good. I enjoyed the steak pie and fish & chips. However, the chicken Tikka was overly salty and the naan bread was disappointing. The atmosphere is bright and bustling, resembling more of a community center than a restaurant. They had a good selection of desserts and a bar. The server was lovely."

Foods great, and good value, views out are great and staff are excellent. We went twice in two days, and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area

I had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. My visit was in the evening, and I enjoyed the simple yet deliciously prepared food with a warm and friendly atmosphere, overlooking the beautiful sea. I highly recommend trying the pakoras, as they were especially delicious. View menu

Lovely welcome at Port Mor Community Café for breakfast. Staff were excellent. Polite and really helpful (and patient) with all our accompanying grandchildren. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast. Just what was required to set us up for the day. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Islay.

We visited this restaurant twice during our stay. The first time, the food was exceptional. However, the second time, the food was just okay. The apple pie, which was microwaved, was dense, and the chicken burgers were overcooked and slightly tough. Despite this, the service was outstanding on both occasions.

Visited Port Mor for a lovely full cooked breakfast. In particular, the toast was excellently sliced into perfect triangles and was the perfect level of toastedness. The waiting staff were very friendly and made it clear to us the high standards of food at this establishment We returned for coffee later on and the staff were very sympathetic of our bus troubles View menu

Just out for a drive and stopped off for a spot of lunch. Ordered a chicken mayonnaise bloomer with salad and crisps at what I thought was a reasonable price of £5 until the plate arrived. 2 slices of white bread with chicken mayo and crisps.. This was not what I was expecting, a bloomer is thick country style loaf with a lovely crust not two slices of cheap white. Dissapointment personified!!

We thought it was just going to be burger and chips to please the kids, but it's far more! While the kids enjoyed their meal, we turned to the menu for the day and finally chose what were the best mussels in white wine for a long time plus wonderful crab claws. Great baking too (and of course bright blue bubble-gum icecream for the kids). Excellent service, lovely location. And a much-appreciated playpark too.

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"

"We booked this restaurant after reading the reviews while touring Scotland what a disappointment. When we arrived we were shown to a table straight behind the door and as it kept opening and shutting it blew a massive amount of cold air in. As both parents and staff allowed 2 young children to go in and out every few minutes it got a bit much. We were given the menu and told specials were on the board. No description or recommendation. Also they did not say the board also goes over the top of the fish on didplay. I had crab claws to start the mayonnaise was lovely and what I could get out of the claws was nice but I was given no instruments to get into the claws and they were not broken enough for them to just pull out. I ordered the turbut for main as did my husband it was a small fillet with the skin correctly removed but it was loaded with garlic butter sauce you couldn't taste the fish for the garlic. Also which was worse I don't know what they did to the top of it but it was yellow and like thin rubber. We had to peel it off it was not good. I didn't complain at the time because I am not used to having a fillet of turbut. When I have had it before my husband and I have shared a turbut presented whole at the table. I have only written this today after speaking to some friends who said i should put something on because there had to be something wrong for the top of the fish to be yellow and leathery. You might guess but I won't be going back."
