"We booked for an anniversary meal. We were seated straight away snd waited 20 minutes to order drinks. Another 15 minutes a waitress came over, we thought to take our order. No it was for the kitchen is backed up now and we can't take any more orders. We asked for the manager he was basically not interested and that we could come back another day to have a free meal on the house. But we booked and are paying for our meal, not interested in a free meal. The owner then came out and said the same thing and have free drinks and we will try and get you some food. I'm sorry but if you have booked a table for a meal you should have it. People arrived after us and were given menus. The most shocking thing is that we have been here several times and it has been busy and its never been like this even on a sumners day. Do not book with this restaurant it doesn't give you a guaranteed meal. Shocking absolutely shocking."

"As a long term customer of the Cinnamon Tree, I can't recommend it enough. It simply ticks all the boxes. I've tried many other Indian restaurants and takeaways over the years, in a misguided hope of finding one that beats Cinnamon Tree but it's a fools' errand, there are none. Food is always incredible and if you want a dish tweaked to your liking, they will always accommodate. Staff are just brilliant, always super friendly with great service and they go out of their way to make kids feel welcome. Ample ree parking around the back of the building so always easy to find a spot. My one tiny criticism is that they do not sell alcohol, you need to take your own. They previously sold alcohol, pre-pandemic but never brought it back and I don't know why. But that's a minor niggle and doesn't really detract from what is otherwise a fantastic dining experience, end to end. Vegetarian options: Nearly all dishes are available as vegetarian options. Kid-friendliness: They really make a fuss of kids and give them chocolates, chat with them, it's lovely to see. Parking: Ample free parking at rear of premises. "My family and I decided to try this restaurant for a change since we hadn't been in a couple of years. We were definitely not disappointed! The greeting was warm and friendly, and our drinks arrived quickly as we looked over the new menu. There were plenty of options for both light bites and main courses, including a good selection for vegetarians. I ordered a delicious goats cheese on toast with egg, pesto, pine nuts, and watercress, which was full of flavor. My mom went for the traditional ham, egg, and chips, which was a generous portion. For dessert, we treated ourselves to a baileys brulee and a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, both made on site and incredibly tasty. The cheesecake was the lightest and most delicious I've had in a long time. We were informed that the pub had recently changed ownership, and we will definitely be returning. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable. The food was very good quality and reasonably priced - definitely worth a visit. Thank you."

"Surprised to find a cafe of this sort in Mortimer. Has the feel of a classic transport cafe or an urban, people’s cafe. But it looked my kind of place, so I made a point of trying breakfast there before a walk. A biggish cafe inside, but I sat outside at a table. Numerous different combinations of a fried breakfast on offer. I chose one with scrambled eggs and--a rare delight these days--fried bread. Also a big tomato nicely charred from the grill, good bacon, a large portion of mushrooms, baked beans, etc. Just what I needed to fuel my hike over to Silchester and beyond. Came up quickly, served hot. They had at least 6 staff on, so this is a serious cafe. The staff were outstanding. One lady chatted to me in a friendly manner, and it seemed natural, not going through the motions. Made my day. One lad came out to see if I was being served. I was; but that he had the awareness to notice me out front and check was impressive. Like everything about Mortimer Cafe, he was on the ball. For a weekday, this cafe was pretty busy. To me that shows it must’ve earned a good reputation."
