We have been here several times and keep coming back. You choose your fish and they cook it up and serve it with potatoes and a small salad. It’s always perfectly done. Rustic, authentic food. Thumbs up

If you get past the not so open Hamburg comment before they realized my lady spoke Turkish, the super oily fish, potatoes and vegetables maybe worth one star. As long as it is not winter and you sit inside with almost no space and ventilation,...leaving you smelling fishy for the remainder of your evening

Absolutely amazing. Choose your own cut of fresh fish from the cooler, selection changes daily, simply grilled or in their specialty cream sauce. Could not have been better, low priced and high quality, large servings. We had two dinners in Hamburg and both were there...by unanimous decision. Family owned and a caring place. One selects fish from the case and it is grilled and served with potatoes and a small salad. It was really warm out, and we waited a bit to finally get a table outside under the awning. But the tables and benches are so close...together that it was impossible for any breeze to penetrate and the gentleman sitting behind me was half on his bench and half on mine. We had a whole grilled scholle flounder variety, and a combination plate. I thought the grilled squid tintenfisch and potatoes were very good, but didn’t find the other fish to my liking. We were attracted by the large number of people looking for a seat outside this fish restaurant. We took it as a sign that the meals were good here. You order from the display of fresh fish inside and it is brought out to you...when cooked. Grab some drinks from the fridge inside as you order. Seating is sought after and you need to share the tables. This is casual, fast, cheap eating. The meals looked fantastic. I thought the fish was served with banana chips but they were delicious golden potato slices. It was not easy for me to order as I dont speak German and the menu is on a board inside. I was happy with my calamari, fried potato and salad and a rhubarb flavoured soft drink

Schabi's is a tiny spot that you would miss if you didn't know about it. It was one of my friend's favorite spots when he lived in Hamburg so we had to make this stop. The fish is on display and brought in daily ...once it's gone they are done. Freshness, simplicity great taste made to order is how I would describe what they are doing at Schabis We all ordered the shrimp with sauce Gambas aus der Pfanne. You get a salad with the entree. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the sauce with a little spicy kick was more like a rich, creamy soup that went nicely with the fresh bread. The potatoes on the side were very tasty also. It was a sunny but cool almost spring day and eating that fabulous...

Auch wenn es fast nur ein Strassenverkauf mit ein paar wenigen Tischen und Bänken vor der Tür auf dem Gehweg, mitten im Szene-Viertel Sternschanze, ist, ist es für mich immer die erste Wahl (zusammen mit "Fisch und So" in Altona) für frischen Fisch in Hamburg. Die Auswahl hängt über dem Grill an der Wand (wie in einer Würstelbude) oder erfragt man einfach beim überaus freundlichen Personal vor der Kühlauslage. Es gibt das, was (noch) da ist, auf der heissen Grillplatte ohne jegliches ChiChi frisch gebraten. Die Getränke nimmt man sich selbst aus dem Kühlschrank und gezahlt wird vor dem Gehen! !!!!
