Very tasty. Big portions. We ordered salad with salmon with creme cheese and cheese dumplings. Dumplings were so tender, ideal composition of apple puree, whipped cream, not so much sugar. Perfect for late breakfast or tea time. Personnel was nice.

While the location is splendid with great views of the opera house, monuments and square the service ladies are rude and unhappy folks. Be careful when you pay by card: They try to talk you into generously rounding up the total to get their undeserved...tip.

Lovely atmosphere on the terrace, with a beautiful view of the church, opera, and palace. We came only for drinks and dessert and were not disappointed! Delicious cakes and lemonades. We had breakfast/brunch on a Sunday mainly because everything was packed and this place wasn’t too bad when we arrived. It did fill up! We all had crepes, two chicken and one berry, and all enjoyed them. The coffees were ok. The staff were friendly...for German wait staff, and the prices were reasonable, especially since we were in the main tourist area.

My hotel recommended this restaurant to us . I rang to make a booking for people at and spoke to a lady called Malon. She was rude, loud, abusive and vulgar in her response to me making a reservation and the question I...had asked her. “What is the address of the restaurant ?” She screamed at me why I didn’t know the address and was making a booking, and was abusive . I told her the restaurant was recommended but I didn’t know the address. Then she shouted at me and hung up. I was very upset by her response and no one should ever be treated like this when making an inquiry. Very poor customer service. Hugely disappointed!!

I stayed at the Westin Bellvue and couldn't get an early cup of coffee without purchasing a dollar breakfast, but after crossing the bridge over the Elbe I discovered the Shinkelwache cafe dead center in the midst of all he landmark attractions. I not...only got my Java fix but a Ham and Egg Breakfast to boot , The Ham and Eggs were only Euro and presented in the most attractive way with the ham sliced up and decorated with parsley.One would expect higher prices in a landmark building which is not only juxtaposed to the Opera but the only cafe in sight.The interior was delightfully decorated for Christmas.
