"I have visited this restaurant before and loved it. This time, I went with friends for breakfast. The staff was lovely and the food was also delicious. However, when it came time to pay, we all wanted to pay individually and none of us wanted to pay the service charge, which is apparently discretionary. The first two of us paid for our individual food, but the third payment included the total bill, including the service charge. Even though we expressed that we did not want to pay the service charge, we were told it couldn't be removed at that stage and should have been mentioned at the beginning of the payment process. It was a bit confusing to us why it couldn't be removed, but we ended up paying it anyway. In the end, we each individually reimbursed our friend who had paid the total service charge for all of us."

Brilliant. First visit here today. Staff couldn’t have done any more to accommodate us&the food was so good. Will definitely be back.

Walked out. Took far too long after we were seated to bother to take an order. Sat for a good 20 mins, staff gave no attention. Wouldn't recommend. Involuntary 10% service charge must be for eye contact

I dropped in for a quick brunch between trains this morning. The cafe has friendly staff and a great menu. I had cappuccino and a croissant. The coffee was rather disappointing but the croissant was fresh and the jam good quality. Would visit again but choose tea next time.

The cakes at this restaurant were underwhelming, with one being overly sweet and the other lacking in sweetness. The chai tea was too watery for my liking. However, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere of the place was pleasant and comfortable. Overall, I was disappointed with the cakes and drinks. View menu

This cozy café is well-known for their fresh cakes and drinks. If you're staying at Edinburgh Backpackers, you can enjoy a bonus 15% off. The quality of the food is generally good and we visited the café three times during our two-day stay in Edinburgh. The new staff were in training but still did a great job. The only downside was that the hot food took a bit longer than anticipated to be served.

I went to this restaurant for brunch and ordered a breakfast sandwich with sausage, eggs, and bacon. It was tasty, but a bit dry and not worth the price. My partner ordered eggs benedict, which was a small portion and tasty, but not exceptional. I was surprised to see this restaurant ranked so high on Tripadvisor. They did have delicious-looking carrot cake, although I didn't get a chance to try it.

A proper Scottish breakfast served with potato scone and haggis! Good quality ingredients, well cooked, and the beans served separately in a small ramekin. The butter wasn’t straight out the fridge either! At last, a cafe that understands a cooked breakfast! Well done! Nice staff and good coffee too. With it located just up the steps from Waverly Train Station, it’s perfect for early arrivals in the city. View menu

We had a great dining experience at this restaurant. We dined there for breakfast one day and returned for lunch before leaving town. The guys ordered the Big Belter and I had the Eggs Benedict for breakfast. The lunch was equally delicious, but the standout dish was the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Despite the restaurant and patio being busy, we discovered they had a downstairs area with no wait.

This restaurant serves an amazing brunch! It is one of the best brunches I have had in a long time. The food and coffee were excellent, the staff were extremely friendly, and despite being a large group, they were able to accommodate us all at one table. They even printed out receipts for everyone, as some wanted to create scrapbooks of our trip. The music was great, and the prices were reasonable. I highly recommend this place if you are in Edinburgh and looking for a delicious brunch.
