"Booked this restaurant well in advance and received your confirmation. Strangely, we received no call from them to confirm the booking. We turned up as booked but there was no one there. We waited but still no staff. I then spotted a girl doing some paperwork behind the bar. I went to go to speak to her but she picked everything up and went away. I though she was going to get someone to see to us but no.. Eventually we left. This is the first time we have ever had such an experience and the management at Sir Richard should be ashamed of themselves. Fortunately a lovely Italian just down the road found us a table."

Absolutely terrible. The food was so revolting that I couldn't even take a bite.

The food is ok, but the noise from the adjoining cocktail bar destroys any atmosphere. It also attracts loud hen parties. View menu

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch at an affordable price. The service was excellent as well. Highly recommend and we'll definitely be returning!

Upon arriving, we were a bit taken aback by the football playing on multiple screens in the bar. However, once the game ended just a few minutes later, the atmosphere transformed and Sir Thomas became a charming restaurant. The food was delicious, well-prepared, and reasonably priced. I opted for the Sea Bream, which was expertly cooked, while my partner enjoyed the Rib Eye steak with hand-cut chips, which was fantastic. View menu

I had a fantastic two-course Sunday lunch at this restaurant, which was great value for money. I would have given it five stars if they hadn't run out of mint sauce for the roast lamb. They also forgot to charge us for a bottle of wine, which we owned up to and paid for. The roast was delicious and perfect for those with big appetites. It was a bit quiet for a Sunday, but I imagine it's very busy at other times. I would definitely return to this restaurant.

Lovely meal at the St John restaurant in the Sir Thomas Street Hotel. Despite being a bank holiday the restaurant was quiet, so we had a window booth (very comfortable and the Spring specials menu was very very good value (less that £15 for 3 courses! most of the table had this though I opted for the a la carte menu with a variance of cottage pie I had never imagined, but had to admit was beautifully presented plated and tasted absolutely divine. I will definately return here!!
