"We went for a meal in the restaurant area at 6pm last night to check out this pub which is under new ownership. We ordered our food and drinks and waited. After 5 minutes the waitress returned to say that neither of our choices were available so could we choose again. We asked if everything else was available and were told yes apart from one pie flavour. We quickly reordered different meals and thought that was done. Over the next 45 minutes we saw other tables order and wait for their meals and watch one diner return his whole meal calling it ‘inedible’. After 45 minutes the manageress arrived at our table to inform us that they didn’t have any chicken wings after all…..so could I choose again. We strongly suspect the last portion of chicken wings were given to a diner in the bar area when they should have been on our order. Whatever the case, we walked out and told the manageress it was totally unacceptable….to which she seemed indifferent, no apologies at all for the awful service just a shrug of her shoulders. If the new owners are trying to impress they are making one almighty mess of it. Avoid this place……you have been warned!! 1 star is purely for the free parking!!!"

"I visited the farm shop today for a few items, it's a nice place stocked with all sorts of delicious produce and a proper butchers. Some things were a little expensive but you expect that from a farm shop. After shopping I really wanted a coffee and a quick bite to eat as it was approaching approaching the lady on reception she seemed to look me up and down and even though I could see lots of empty seating I was informed they where full. I think I was turned down because I had walking attire on and hadn't shaved....certainly that's what the look I was given felt like.I shan't go back to either the shop or restaurant and looking at the Incredibly high ratio of average, terrible and poor reviews they might not be there soon shockingly high. Seems management are not fit for task and have a very short sighted view of customers. The covid statement is acting like an apology for this poor customer regard. Its a shame as it seems one or a few people are going to cost a lot of people their livelihoods."

"We visited this lovely place on Monday evening. My wife, sister, brother-in-law and father. The service was friendly and welcoming. The male and female waiter and waitress were so courteous and did their best to make us feel welcome. The food was fantastic. We had a seafood menu choice and could fault nothing. The food was delicious. My wife has a Mauritian restaurant in Reading and as a restauranteur she and I would thoroughly recommend this wonderful establishment. We will return when next in Cornwall. A big thank you to all the staff"

"I overheard two members of staff insulting me and my adult children, I complained, the deputy manager Claire, she was extremely unprofessional. She sneered at my complaint, told me I am a liar and as this is happening I was surrounded by her staff. Feeling very very overwhelmed and intimidated by the staff surrounding me I walked back to my table. I sat with the manager (her boss) Liam. He was very nice and polite. He apologised for the behaviour. I explained I was complaining to the head office about the behaviour (which I did). One week later I have an email asking me not to return to the premises as per Liam's discretion. He sat with me, apologised and we cleared away our plates and went out merry way. I've had this information like I'm an aggressive criminal. Well I've asked for the CCTV and I will go further with this. I will not be intimidated by an individual to then call me a liar. If you complain you are barred? I'm a professional individual, who lives locally and this is a disgrace. I don't drink, I was having lunch. All this over beans!"

"My mother and I went to this restaurant for Christmas dinner and the service we received from a waiter named Luke was exceptional. My mother has a severe fruit allergy and they handled it perfectly, without any hesitation or inconvenience, and even made some dishes from scratch specifically for her. The setting was wonderful, the table was beautifully dressed, and the portions of food were huge. The price to performance ratio was excellent as well. Now, we make it a tradition to come here every Christmas without fail."
