"We had the menu that included a small, tasty appetizer with tuna and avocado paste, a very tasty seaweed salad, tempura shrimps, a dish with sushi and nigiri (quite big portion and as dessert green tea ice cream and cheesecake. Everything was very tasty, the quantities were big and we were really full in the end. The menu was for 48 chf per person, very affordable considering the quantity and quality. The atmosphere was very nice, perfect for romantic dinners : I definitely recommend it!"

Hidden gem! The best sushi I’ve eaten in Switzerland and very affordable. Chef preparing your meal in front of you with quality fresh fish. Will definitely be back!

I came here on recommendation of an old friend. I have been on the lookout for a good sushi place in lausanne. Not so simple a quest as one might expect. This is good unpretentious Sushi at reasonable prices.

Been here many times and it great as usual. But just now I also discovered that it is very service oriented. I was in super hurry to catch the train ... and also super hungry. They served me shushi in 7 minutes! Thanks! Well done!

Besides being delicious the kitchen team has a passion to bring authentic Japanese cuisine to Lausanne. Excellent service ready to improvise to the level of details that leave customer wanting to come back soon. Better with friends.

I’ve been there at least 5 times in the past year or so. Sushis are getting worse and worse everytime, which is a bummer cause it was pretty good at the beginning. Last time they doubled up our reservation and we were asked to leave even though there was a table left. Seriously who runs a business this way?

It is the second time that we were in this restaurant in the heart of Lausanne which is nice but small. The Sushi is prepared right in front of your eyes, but also the other Japanese menus seem to be very good (have not tried anythig else so far but the sushi) The service is nice and friendly. If you want to go there it is avisable you reserve a table.

Well located, I always find this small sushi place to have amazing quality. Watching the sushi and sashimi get made at the bar is mesmerizing and the care that goes into each serve is amazing. Have visited at night and whilst great, I would recommend trying this at lunch as well as they have especially good value meals at this time. This isn’t one of those places we’re things are pre made and sit in a fridge for you to choose everything is made fresh to order

"Au Charbon is family managed restaurant, set in a pleasant and quiet part of Lausanne, easily reached on the bus, if like me, you are touring. The restaurant is ‘cosy’ and the owners have maximised the number of seats available, which sounds like me...spinning a cramped venue but it actually works out okay. We had sufficient room to relax and eat without imposing on our neighbouring tables, so the efficient spacing added to the atmosphere and the wine waiter added character. The restaurant has a traditional pizzeria menu with no surprises with the choice of pizza, steaks etc. All our choices were well presented, cooked exactly to request and delicious. Portion sizes were just right too On the down side, the table service was very slow, it took around an hour for the first course and one dish was wrong when it eventually arrived but we put that down to being busy. The lady serving was also a bit too presumptuous that the change from the bill would be her tip and she didn’t return the change, eventually coming back to confirm if this was so. In summary, I enjoyed my meal and time at Au Charbon, they seem to have earned their reputation from being consistent in serving nicely presented dishes that are cooked well. The higher end options are a bit on the pricey side if you are on holiday, especially when considering this is a pizzeria (a steak costing CHF). However most restaurants of this type in Lausanne are similarly priced and it is what it is."
