"no frightened ales just guinness or newcastle brown ale. no lammbrat left so my wife and I beef roast dinner ordered. the only veg that was served with the meat was baptized and red cabbage. roast potatoes big yorkshire pudding. When I asked at the end of the meal, if everything was due to the waitress that cleared our teller, in order, I expressed my unfortunateness with the lack of sweetness with the waitress that she would take it with the kitchen, but she never came back. when I paid in cash, the man did not ask me how our meals were paid in full, which was the best part and was not good. as a shame as I like this pub very much when we had eaten the last time there, I had a sandwich in the worth of bark served with a Brat dinner. at this opportunity I gave them the advantage of the doubt, but now I don't think we'll come back, as I think if they're short food in the kitchen, instead of telling them that they try to palm them with tiny portions or just put burrows and red cabbage on their teller and then load the full price and if they complain (as I did) but they sympathize with them. a shame."

the staff was very friendly and the food was exceptional. it's about the hospitality. they would recommend to those with runners as it is a great place to stop for a sandwich. in any case, I want to come back when I'm the next in the opposite.

Really friendly forest pub. Great log fires in the winter with amazing garden for the summer. The food is good with daily specials, burger is fabulous. Lovely friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Pets and children also welcome. Ideal to visit and combine with a...forest walk or cycle ride.

Lovely pub with a friendly couple running it. Fantastic pub food and a very warm welcome with excellent service. Wadworth on cask. If I had one suggestion would be to have more cask ales on but I respect that demand might not be enough,...and I would far rather one cask ale in good condition than three in variable condition.

a group of us completed a walk in the opposite and held on the crown frontrup for lunch. what a sound! the personal was so inviting for us and the two dogs with us. we had a nice big table in the bar and. the dogs were offered tasty while we selected from the menu. most of us have ordered the burger, wow! what a wonderful, generous part and amazing chips. I would highly recommend and happy back.

Haven't been there for a long time so we decided a long walk was needed. Crown Stirrup is great place for walkers as direct forest access. Staff very welcoming and didn't mind muddy boots or dog. Had the pie and it was the best I...have had in a pub ever. Full of filling pastry excellent. Did compliment the staff .... it was home made. Sea Bass was also well cooked and presented. Sticky toffee pudding was also excellent. Was it expensive....... a little bit so is everywhere now. Would I go back? DEFINITELY

The Crown Stirrup is our local pub, which sadly because of previous reviews with old management/owners, we didn't frequent. However we heard it had changed ownership and with family staying who wanted to be able to walk rather than drive, we chose this venue. From...the minute we walked in the door, there was a warm and friendly welcome from the staff and a warm open fire. The food, of which we had three courses, was superb. The staff were attentive but not overly so and we weren't rushed at all having time to rest between courses. Will definitely be back very soon. Thank you.

A spur of the moment decision took us to this wonderful pub nestled in the New Forest. We've been mNy times before in the summer and it's been amazing. Last night was no exception. The welcome was warm and friendly both the hosts and the...environment. It was good to see lots of other people enjoying themselves too. There's a good range of local drinks as well as old favorites and the menu. Although compact offers a range of delights from wjitebait to spicey chicken as starters and onto seabass, lamb and the Stirrup Burger as a main. There's also some great desserts including then obligitory Brownie and ice cream as well as a alcohol fueled special. The food service was great and the hosts e...

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
