"Never had a bad meal here, the menu is full of choice even for a fussy eater like me, and the food is always fantastic! I've also stayed over several times and all of the rooms are beautiful. The staff are great, always friendly and smiling and can't do enough to help you. Bar staff are well trained (great gin and tonics! and the wine list is very impressive and reasonably priced. As for the car park scheme, I've visited several times and struggled to park due to people abandoning their cars to go for walks in the area so I actually think it's a great idea. Not only is it completely understandable that the owners don't want to offer free parking for non-customers, it ensures parking is always available for paying guests. I'd much rather spend 30 seconds providing my car registration at the bar, with a drink in my hand, than 5 minutes driving round looking for a space because of non-customers taking advantage of a free car park! And as there are signs EVERYWHERE I don't understand how anyone can complain, to me it just shows the owners were quick to spot an issue with the car park and have addressed it quickly and easily! Keep up the good work guys and Happy New Year!"

#1 Emma our waitress/server was amazing! She was genuine and personable. I work and manage the Guest Services department at a hotel and Emma is outstanding. The dishes came out in a timely manner. The food was excellent. All staff that we interacted with were great also.

My little girl and I had lunch on Sunday, and it was amazing as always. There was nothing to complain about. I've been here a few times, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal or experience. The staff is always very friendly and professional. The young people working there are fantastic! Absolutely outstanding! The room was perfect, comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and happy. The food was absolutely delicious in the evening and the breakfast was too. There was even a complimentary beer. I can't recommend it enough. We'll definitely be staying again.

Didn't stay here, only had dinner and beers in the restaurant... The eating area was really nice kind of like a round yurt. They also have outdoor seating, but mostly just for the pub area. Food and service was excellent... a bit slow, but when asked they said they didn't have their kitchen fully staffed yet. Made sense, given the pandemic. For starters, the warm wild mushroom salad, button mushroom rarebit, and scotch egg were all really tasty. For mains, I had Mr Taylor’s Sausages Colcannon Mash... the best!

Great food, and fantastic service, stayed over the weekend with friends, first class home made food, was not brave enough to try “the pie”....sounded amazing!, mussels were great, as was the lunch time snack of sausage roll and breads, sorry loaf! Staff could not be more helpful, from bar staff to restaurant , shout out to young lady who looked after us for dinner, and lady (who was running the job ; at breakfast, nothing to much trouble. Matt the owner/manager had the job nailed!, would recommend, well done team Devonshire View menu

We visited this restaurant several times during our stay at the Chatsworth caravan site, and the fact that they welcome our three dogs is a huge plus. The staff are always helpful, friendly, and cheerful. We've never been disappointed in the food. Based on our positive experiences at the Devonshire, I decided to book a night there for my partner's birthday. Once again, we received friendly, cheerful, and attentive service. Thank you! In response to some of the negative feedback I've seen: did those guests address their concerns with the staff at the time? Did they give the staff the chance to resolve their issues? Probably not. So on behalf of my partner, our beloved dogs, and myself, we ext...

Excellent food and friendly staff. We ate twice at the Devonshire Arms, both times the food was great. We had a bit of a wait for our main courses but so what? We just chatted and had another drink while we waited. I'd rather have to wait a short while and the food be as good as it was than be served poor food quickly. The puddings are the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Whoever you have making your puddings they are worth their weight in gold. I am so used to puddings being taken from the freezer and microwaved so they are volcanically hot that it was a wonderful surprise to have puddings that had been created in house and were the perfect temperature to eat. They were also delicious....

"The Goats Cheese Tart starter and Rack of Lamb main were both very good. The chips part of the Cod and Chips was good but the Cod certainly wasn’t. The batter was thin and soggy and the fish itself was wet and lacked flavour. The solitary waitress coped brilliantly but was very busy so it was not easy to attract her attention to complain. Had I done so I would presumably have been offered a replacement fish which would no doubt have been the same, or perhaps a different meal which would have meant a long wait judging by how long we had waited for our initial order and me eating on my own while my partner would have had to sit watching me, having long finished her meal. I therefore lumped my way through it, I was hungry after all, that's why we where there. When the waitress came to clear the plates I told her of my dissatisfaction with the fish and drew her attention to the pile of soggy batter and fish I had left on the plate. She said she would inform the chef. She brought the bill without comment so I asked her whether she had informed the Chef and asked what his response had been. She said he had said sorry. I said that if he was sorry why was there no adjustment to the bill? She said she would go back and ask him. She returned to inform me that he said that as I had eaten it I had to pay for it. What an attitude, what poor PR. Our first and last visit to Charlies. Note. I couldn't bring myself to tip the waitress under the circumstances which was unfortunate because she was working very hard and unsupported and it wasn't her fault. Perhaps Chef, or Charlie, you would have the decency to dip into your own pocket and give her the £7 she didn't get from me thanks to your poor attitude."
