"I’ve been 3 times now within the past couple of months; once with my friend and twice with my partner. First time I had prawn cocktail and hunter’s chicken. Due to a food intolerance to chillis/peppers, I asked the waitress if they could check whether...the bbq sauce had chillis in. This was no problem. It did have chillis in so the waitress said they’d be able to do another sauce, and so I settled on a garlic sauce instead. I was genuinely surprised at how far they went, after I’m often left feeling like an inconvenience to ask about ingredients in sauces etc but they couldn’t have been more accommodating and willing to help (especially after they said they could do another sauce as I contemplated having it plain) The second time I had a Sunday carvery and oh my god, it was the best carvery I’d ever had! Everything was perfect! Didn’t have dessert as went to an ice cream parlour after but felt disappointed as they looked good! My most recent visit was just yesterday. And I had gammon, chips and peas with a side order of onion rings. It was all divine once again! The pineapple was grilled fresh pineapple, not the tinned rings you usually get with gammon and it was two large chunks so didn’t have to ration the pineapple/gammon ratio! Onion rings were amazing but it was all too much they’re definitely a sharing portion! Would be nice if they had an onion ring side for one option as I hate food waste managed a dessert and had a white chocolate and raspberry roulade with vanilla ice cream. Was tempted by a sponge pudding but felt it would be too heavy. Was pleased with my option though. Price wise, I would say it’s about average price for a pub meal. The gammon was £11.95 I think, similar price for the hunter’s chicken, and my partners fish and chips were £14.95 but the fish portion is huge so well worth it! I think the last bill was about £50 for the two mains, onion rings, two desserts and three drinks. I’m looking forward to coming back for the carvery around my birthday (end of April)"

Just been for carvery and it was the best I’ve had in a long time. All food fresh and the beef is excellent, meaty gravy too. Staff are friendly and polite and I will definitely return soon. Excellent! View menu

a very pleasant experience. the kitchen is proud of what they produce. very delicious food and a varied menu. All four of us chose another main course and we were all delighted with our choice. Although it was very busy on a Friday night, the service was excellent. we will certainly return.

The food at this restaurant is delicious and the woman who manages the bar is charming and adorable. There is a good variety of vegetarian, meat, and fish dishes to choose from. The beer garden by the river is a great addition, especially during the summer, and is definitely worth the journey for a relaxing experience.

This restaurant is located in a great area and offers a diverse menu to cater to all preferences. We enjoyed starting the meal with baked Camembert accompanied by a selection of bread. I chose the duck breast for my main course, while my husband opted for the steak pie. The portions were generous and we also had drinks, including beer and wine. Our total bill came to £70. "Awful meal and even worse service. A place where the customer is always wrong! Cold food, undercooked naan breads (which were not eaten), tomato sauce rather than Indian curry with no spice or tasty, and a shortage of meat for a dish being charged at £14-16 per curry (without any extras). When this was brought to the attention of the lady front of house, she wanted to argue that the food wasn’t cold and the two naan bread were cooked. Shouting at us in front of her other paying customers. However neither naan bread had even a slice out of them, may as well have been raw dough. When you can see your fingerprint in the naan, you know it’s undercooked. She said that’s how they come. However we have eaten there a few times before so this wasn’t the case! No service, or at best slow service from start to end. And nobody came to check how our food was, (now I guess we know why) so my partner went to say something. We visited here after having a nice meal the last time but after the disgusting way the staff spoke to us, the terrible food and total lack of service, means that we will never come back. Never been spoken to like this from someone who is supposed to be employed for customer service, or at least supposed to try and make the customer happy. Being locals, she will lose out on the next 30 years of being our chosen local Indian and would rather go to Mumbai Lounge. Make sure you go somewhere else other than this place! Horrendous food and horrible service. Don’t visit Bengal Spice."
