"we decided to visit the five arrows for lunch after we enjoyed an excellent afternoon, but we have remained disappointed. the foods were averaged for the total price compared to others operated in the region. the service was sometimes very slow. while we enjoy a cozy lunch, we felt the waiting time for teller between the main course and dessert to come out, and especially for the bill was exaggerated (the first question for the bill was forgotten, so we had to ask again what the entire waiting time was about 30 minutes.) contempt to details about dinge like after spuns with our coffee frame in asking and not going with a spoon. all those we were supposed to have preferred from the manager on the one hand. I believe they expect a certain standard to be met when they are dining here and unfortunately today it really is short for us. we also feel that all the things were considered and given the waiting times experienced that in this case the 10% service fee on a table for two was unfortunately not completely justified, but we paid regardless of that it came to an experience. it's a real shame when we waited a series of weeks to come for us and it just didn't fulfill our expectations."

Visited with my family for a birthday lunch, before visiting Waddesdon light walk. All of the food was excellent quality. The staff were all friendly and efficient, thoroughly recommend this restaurant I will definitely be happy to return. Positioned just outside Waddesdon Manor so in...ideal position if you don’t want to eat there.

we chose the five arrows for our high time in the april this year, and one of the reasons (not only the incredible setting) was for eating! We were earlier in the year too high-time tasting meal and it was incredible! every meal we tried. was beautifully presented and the taste fits. it made it so difficult to choose our options. not only eating incredible, the service is also great! the team is fantastic and so personal and makes the visit in the restaurant even more unforgettable.

All drinks were good, starter of filet pork and scotch egg was amazing , both had sirloin of beef seasonal veg , and roast potatoes.. (some potatoes tasted as if they were pre cooked so a bit tough . cheesecake was lovely , cheese and...biscuits good.. all the staff were very attentive and friendly and we were seated in a lovely little romantic booth.. atmosphere was welcoming. Our meal wasn’t perfect but the experience and staff would definitely encourage us to return.. hope to see you all soon.

Fantastic experience as always. Sandy at the bar was so welcoming, offering lots of samples of wine do we could decide what bottle to order. Staff all so helpful and attentive. Made to feel really special. Food was superb and the panna cotta was to...die for! Wow I literally scraped the plate clean, and as it was our anniversary we had a chocolate chard with happy anniversary on it which was a lovely touch. Prices are very reasonable, on a par with a lot of pubs, but you wouldn’t get food like this at a normal pub!!! Highly recommend,

It was all lovely tasty food, friendly service but rather inexperienced) elegant Christmas decorations and welcome open fires. However, our meal was spoilt by a child on a neighbouring table whose parents allowed him to sprawl on the floor and race toy cars back.. forth. I feared the waitresses might step on a car go flying. If a child isn't mature enough to sit at a table quietly, perhaps watching something on an ipad if entertainment is required, then they should not be there. I wished the management had stepped in with a quiet word.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch here with the family. Top notch food and service a rare combination. Superb cheese soufflé, shame the chicken liver parfait wasn’t on. Absolutely gorgeous rare roast beef and roast pork. Sea bream and muscles superb but the chorizo...in the chicken pie put a lot of people off that option. Suggest chicken and tarragon instead? sticky toffee pud great, well put together cheese plate. Excellent chap organising front of house friendly and fun in just three right proportions. All other staff were also great. Well done the management for recruiting and training. We will definitely be coming back!

"after we read the reviews we booked here when we went to waddesdon manor. pub wasn't open so we let ourselves in the back door. there is no direct access from the rooms to the inner of the pubs. we were a night, room 4 needs. a head part and a chair, and a dust, although a comfortable bed. low deck in the bathroom and quirky uneven floor plates. room 5 a single, very low deck suitable only for a child. red window frame, cracked glass, dirty difficult to pull blind, nosiey rayer that kept my friend awake all night. small bathroom, loo squeezed in by shower. the room is so small that it is recommended to open a window to cook the boiler to stop the smoke alarm off, or as recommended by the owner to put the boiler on the landing!. my friend had no sleep all night and was ice cold when she had to turn off the radiator. housekeeper told us owners knew about windows / rooms for weeks, but nothing had done to fix the problem. the menu is inspired withchellin with plastered cabbage, picked walnuts, meerrettich, white beans, which are included on the menu and partly written in French. it doesn't sell because there is no description. featherstone bavette .local bred pork chop boiled pink. bark marinated what I felt as hard. unfortunatley not for us. my last job worked as restaurant manager in a 5-star hotel knightsbridge and I fought to choose from the menu. the owners were fast, both rooms and bills to remove, thank you. the breakfast was excellent, although a pot tee, instead of a cup, a menu, and some ohrengrau tee might have been nice. we found the choice of very dark green walls and deck too dark. as a very old inn, has simply not done justice."

"Booked for a 70th Birthday last year and was so impressed i booked again for it this year. I write this review based on both visits to be fair to the place as they had some 'issues ' this time. Apparently they had some sort of flood so their pumps were out and only had one ale out of a on-the-bar barrel and fizzy drinks from a bottle. As only one of us was drinking alcohol and was happy with the ale, that was ok, but the other drinks were flat and warm. Previous visit though was 100%, no issues so will assume normally would be ok and we just had bad luck. The food was excellent both visits with the exception of the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce with the chicken supreme, they were really tough and i had to leave them. My only other comment on the food is that the menu hasn 't changed in that year and is maybe a little limited. The service was good. Both times there was just one person out the front, but as it 's a hotel, he was also the receptionist. Both times we visited for a 19:00 table we were the only ones in the restaurant, but the guy frequently had to leave for 10-15 minutes to deal with things in the hotel so we had to wait for ordering more drink. I dread to think how it would have been had more people been in the restaurant. The guy this time was new to the job so was a bit slow, but the previous time there was no waiting despite the man being alone. The whole building is 13th century with bits built on over the last 4-500 years. Yes, there 's a bit of scaffolding holding up a beam in the bar area, but apart from that it 's really amazing how well it 's all lasted. Last year the receptionist gave as a 'guided tour ' and was able to explain exactly what was what and from when. It 's a really interesting place, sadly we had forgotten most of it and this time the guy didn 't know quite so much, but after 4 weeks in the job, he had clearly been taught a lot. Overall, it 's maybe a little over-priced, but i 'll be back next year..."
