"One review? Ha! Well here is two. I get why there is only one. This is a hidden gem. You have to be with locals to find it. But, if you are lucky enough to find this charming country pub, you are in store for the perfect English pub experience. This centuries old homestead still oozes that ancient feel. The dishes are not only classic English but also have exciting takes on Korean and Indian fare. I say stick with the local drafts on tap and the classic English dishes. My favorites were the pea and ham soup (If you add a dash of Worcestershire sauce to put it over the top) and the local sausage and mash is on another level. The gravy is to die for!"

Visited the Fountain Inn Ashurst and stayed one night in our camper. Great experience with beautiful staff and fantastic menu. The food was delicious and plentiful. Great location with the camper as large parking and quiet. Will definitely be back when you tour the Sussex region.

An absolute gem of a place. Gorgeous country pub with beautiful garden and incredible food. Despite being unexpectedly short staffed, we just had a wonderful meal here the staff were super busy but dealt with challenge with charm and efficiency. Well done team, we will definitely be back.

The historical Sussex is an absolute jewel of a fund. The surroundings are breathtaking. The service is amazing Lindsey is such a hospitable host. The menu ensures every taste and meat and fish is produced locally. I can no longer recommend this pub, you just have to try for yourself to believe it

Really friendly landlady and her staff. We went as a group and they looked after us very well. The bbq kitchen food was very nice and sensibly priced to the quality. The pub itself is very traditional and true to its period and the garden which wraps around it well looked after and inviting. Would definitely recommend.

I've been past here on a motorcycle countless times but on this occasion I stopped. What a lovely country pub it is. Huge well kept outside area, great food, great service, lovely coffe but don't go there late, they knock off at 9pm, which makes perfect sense out in the countryside. Will definitely be stopping here again.

This is a wonderful English country pub and the food and service are top notch. I enjoyed a pretty fantastic pheasant buns that made something else in a bungalow seem quite mundane and the price was excellent. This venue was a recommendation from some different friends, so we made a way to lunch in the area and I'm glad we did it. Definitely one for a return trip in summer to examine the garden!

Idyllic country pub with beautiful features, attentive service and a great selection of drinks food. Popped by to check it out and make an August booking and was pleasantly surprised to find this gem. Lindsay and staff made us feel very welcome. It features a mini beach, skittles, duck pond, numerous outdoor areas, love shack kitchen and live music Saturday and Sundays!!! Can't wait to come back!!!

Set in a beautiful village, this lovely old 16th Century pub has quite a substantial following and was Lord Oliviers' sort of local. As an Art club, we used it when out painting in the area. With friends and family, it offers the that lovely warm, cosy feeling on Winter days/nights. The Christmas Day menu/price works out at £60.00, could be seen as pricey but I've seen some at £85.00. Lunch and Dinner prices are around £11 £16 for Mains. Plenty of parking. If you coming from the West via A24, there is a lovely drive from The Old Barn nursery which brings you out nearly opposite The Fountain. Bit of winding lane though, so Vorsicht!!

"I booked the table well in advance by phone after a friend recommended it. I didn't use the website. we booked for 18.30 clock at the arrival had the restaurant occupied only a few other tables. service was slow but pleasant, so we didn't...mind very happy with the meal, not the best Thai food I've ever had, but definitiw not the worst. we decided not to have pudding, but order two more tees. we waited about 20mins or something without getting any tees. the restaurant was full this time. Finally we were told that the table was needed for another booking and that the website clearly specified tabs were booked only for 1 1/2 hours, so in the round please we could pay and go, very embarrassing! when I made the booking, I was not told that we had to release the table at 8 o'clock. When we arrived, we were not told that we had to release the table at 8 o'clock. it is all very good to say, customers it clearly explained this on the website, but that makes a very big and in our case mistakenly accept that the customer has visited the website. funny enough I have not put a problem with time limits on bookings, I would rather know about it to avoid any embarrassment. it would have taken only the waitress who took our tee order to point out that we were short on time, we would have paid and left intact with ours. as last note, if you set time limits on bookings, the service must be fast and efficient."
