"We have driven past this pub for many years and finally went in for lunch. Kicking ourselves for not enjoying the gorgeous food here before! A proper gastro pub. Beautifully prepared food and friendly service. So good we have booked to go back. Loved the cod cheek pagodas for starter and was really good and didn't eat all of my husband's chicken, leek and ham pie. Gorgeous pastry and delicious mash. I had the lamb which was beautifully tender. Highly recommend. Found room for sticky toffee pudding as well"

Absolutely amazing place. Great selection of UK lagers. Our meal was freshly prepared (a nice open view of the kitchen) and beautifully cooked- with perfect service. We look forward to returning. Thank you

We had dinner here whilst staying at Whittlebury Park. The food was delicious, fresh and very generous portion. We were able to get a table last minute which we were very glad of. We had the Hake Chips, and the Chicken pie, both were lovely and served quickly. View menu

Just wanted to pass on my thanks and to say that I very much enjoyed my stay over the weekend. The room was airy and clean and the bed comfy, which was perfect and just what I wanted. I will be booking again for next year once I have the dates confirmed for the event I need to attend at Whittlebury hall.

The restaurant has quite literally the best food in the area. I stayed in the area for work and came back to The Fox and Hounds multiple times to try more from the menu. This is one to make a special trip for, and definitely visit if you are anywhere close! I’d give it 6 stars if possible. Great staff, fantastic food and good atmosphere. Don’t miss it.

"Booked this based on v good trip adviser reviews. Looking at website menu prices the expectation was that this pub is very definitely aimed at the posh end of things. If anything more high end than I wanted that weekend but they had availability where a couple of other pubs on my list didn 't so I went for it anyway and booked. Welcome in the bar was warm, first impression of the formica table and the rather cafeteria glasses plonked on it was rather unsettling but I told myself the food would more than make up for such a trivialities. The wait to order drinks and food was about right. It being a Sunday my Dad and I ordered roast lamb, and my daughter ordered whitebait. The wait for the food was long. The roasts arrived with huge Yorkshire puddings (will never understand that with lamb but not complaining which turned out to be rather crispy, the lamb thinly sliced and swimming in gravy was lovely and tender but was tepid! The vegetables were an uninspired boiled collective including cubes of swede that I haven 't seen or endured since school dinners. The whitebait were rather too large for my 10 year old daughter 's sensibilities but that 's our issue not the Folly 's they were nicely cooked in a spicey batter, but I was expecting the usual 1 2 inch long fish not the 3 inch ones that arrived and she tried to eat them but freaked out and finished off my by now cold lamb so I think I won that exchange ; I made it up to her with a pudding (2 different sorbets which took so long to arrive she had to leave half of it or risk 'brain freeze. ' In a final irony, you know how in some restaurants you are inundated by inquiries as to whether your food is ok? In this case if I had been asked I 'd have sent back the food in favour of something that was actually hot but no one asked, and as my dad is struggling with dementia I wasn 't going to call someone over and cause a scene. Ambience might be good at other times but don 't expect much on a Sunday lunchtime."

"honestly I don 't know whether to be particularly angry, or to pretend nothing is happening and be happy; I say this because the place is really very nice, the Tiger beer that I always drink is really very good, and the food is equally good, all the staff are logically kind and courteous, but unfortunately all this great wonder is lost in HUGE errors that could be resolved with extreme simplicity and with a minimum of professional criteria. First of all I would like to know how they can, after the customers have ordered at the counter, tell to them: don 't leave, wait for the drinks, being the only pub within a few kilometers, and having a good influx of customers and work, it’s easy to hire the little staff needed to serve at the tables, (having many tables available . Secondly, it is really shocking to have a good steak on the menu that is accompanied with good pepper sauce, and not even have a piece of bread to accompany it, I had to go to the off-licence opposite to buy a piece of bread to eat with the meat!!! ABSURD!!! Then again, how is it possible to accompany dishes with different products, (such as peas, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc. and not even add half gram of salt to complete the dish, the basic job of a chef is precisely that of knowing how to balance all the flavors of the ingredients that makes a dish!!! At the end there is the small detail that people have to eat on tables that being outside night and day are logically not clean to come into contact with plates and cutlery as well, SCANDALOUS!!!"
