"We were visiting relatives in the area and needed a nice pub for lunch where we could bring both of our dogs. I googled and found this. I called at 12pm when they opened and the lady that answered was so friendly and helpful. We went in at 2pm and she sat us at a great table in the corner which gave the dogs space to lay down comfortably and not be in the way. Such a dog friendly pub with the boys getting several treats each and a dog bowl, not to mention lots of cuddles!!!! The food came and we all had different things but we ate everything. The food was absolutely delicious and great value. My partner is Irish and he confirmed that this was the best Guinness he had had in 9 years of visiting this area!!!!! Cannot find fault with anything. The staff, the food, the atmosphere, the drinks and unbelievably dog friendly. I'm sorry I didn't get the lady's name who served us but it was the tall blonde lady, who was fantastic. The roaring fire was so inviting, we had to drag ourselves away. We will most definitely be back ."

Open mic night was fantastic. Also, I have had food in here lunchtime previous and they do fantastic pub food. Definitely worth a visit at some point if in the area. It was a little too crowded in the main bar for open mic for such a small area but other than that great pub. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We had the loaded fries. One of us had just the cheese topping and I had cheese sauce and bacon bits. Both were very tasty and a good portion size. The bacon was nicely cooked and crispy. The wait for food was quite long, but then they were busy. Shame the meat chilli con carne and cheese topping was withdrawn as that would've been my preference! A good visit! Food: 4 View menu

Always loved this pub and its history, however last night we called in and last orders was rung at 10:15. We were told to order in advance if we wanted another drink. Made to feel we had to drink up and leave once the spray bottle was nearing our table. I am all for being efficient but not at the detriment of the pleasure of punters. Need to ease up a bit. Price per person: £10–20
